josh is worried

thinks management might blow the team up.

"Howard still believes these Mavericks are destined to win a title together, but confesses to a level of unease about the possibility of his bosses blowing up Dirk Nowitzki's supporting cast should they look like they're losing ground on the contenders.

"It's in the back of your mind," Howard confessed Monday night in a private moment at Madison Square Garden.

I think it has too be on their minds...
But really I dont see anything happening.  Kidd is too old and we really dont have anything that interests the nets it seems like.  Unless they want terry, but then were does that leave Harris with kidd?  And I dont even think terry + van horns old contract + junk (I dont even know what will or wont work for that trade) will do it for them.  If it were a passer that they needed... why the HELL did they not go after webber more so than they did?  As old and as banged up as he is... if he were with us now, he might just be the best passer on the team right now... although the team has improved somewhat, I dont see his court vision going away with age.  And he could have a bigger impact than herpes has had.

But like that article said... no talks have happened between the two teams... supposedly.  IF anything were to ever happen, I see the mavs hanging on to dirk and josh no matter what (unless its kobe).

I think if anything should happen, that maybe we go after a better two guard and maybe let JET, jones and whoever else go for a ALL AROUND good starting 2.  Or pick up a good 3 for those guys and have josh start at the two.  Why not?  Why we just have defensive 2 scrubs on this team, just bc d whistle got babied by the refs with every touch that a mavs player made on him 2 years ago, seems like an over reaction too me.  JET is a good 2, but is too small.  Stack hasnt found his shot in what seems like months.  Jones, george, hassel??  Give me a break.  The 2 is the weakest and deepest spot on the team  Bottom line is that what we have doesnt seem to be working... which is why avery has had 3-4 different guys start there so far this year.

kidd
If the nets trade Kidd, they'll want Harris and Diop back.  A Kidd and Krstic for Stack, Terry, Harris, Terry, and Diop works.  It doesn't really work for Dallas however.  It'd be tough, if not impossible, to get a trade that works for both teams so you'd have to go with a multi-team deal and those even more complicated to work out.

all previous years aside
judging from the way kobe has been playing with his teamates this year, i've been really thinking about a dirk/kobe possibility. (i know, some of you will brand me as blasphemous.)

lakers have always said they wouldn't let kobe come to dallas without dirk, and kobe always said he's not coming to dallas if dirk isn't here. however, kobe was interested in the bulls because he liked the idea of playing next to luol deng.  this far into the season, it seems pretty obvious who has been the better player this year : josh howard or luol deng.  a kobe/howard combo would be pretty crazy...

AK-47
Why not package jet, van horns contract and co. for AK??  He wants out right??  Terry isnt exactly a sloan type of guy, but getting rid of that contract of AK's has to be intriguing to say the least for the jazz.  Then you move j5 to the 2 and for once we have a solid starting 5 were avery doesnt have to rotate in 6 different players at the starting two spot during the season bc of a lack of consistency.

Ak to me plays hard when he wants too.  He has been better this year, but I think him going to a new team would really spark his play (IE garnett to the celtics, mcgrady to the magic, carter to NJ)  I dont know though, sounds like the GM in NJ wants too much for kidd, so I doubt we go there.  But why not this deal?

I think it's a good idea
fwiw.

Dallas is good enough to take the title this year
Lets see what we have here; a underachieving team with stars. An MVP and two twenty a game players plus solid bench guys who hopefully will get in gear when it really counts. This is what the Spurs had last year and the Mavs were hyped during the entire season. They didn't have anything left for the play offs. I thought this was how we wanted them to be playing this season?
