The whale killers big write up...

Always good to see some young up and comers with-in the ranks. Man, between harris, howard, and now pops... we seem to have a young wave of talent ready to take over for the stackhouses and terry's of our world. seems that pops is strutting his stuff on a national level these daze....

Thanks for that article
You're right -- the Mavs, unlike the Spurs, have a great base of young and rising talent.  The Mavs' window will not be closing anytime soon!  Also, don't forget Mo Ager -- once he learns to be patient I can see him becoming a Finley/Stackhouse type player.

I dunno...
Mo Ager may be a bust. The Cuban-era has not faired well drafting sg's (I consider howard a 3), does anyone remember courtney alexander or the next "great one" Mladen Sekularac?

However, we're not doing so poorly with these undrafted rookies.... daniels, whale-killer, and barea (who one could argue has played even better in the d-league)

Courtney Alexander
Man I was excited about him. It didn't take as much back then.

Can't call Ager a bust though. It's way too early and there's no telling what he'd be doing if he was getting minutes on a bad team. And secondly, he was the 28th pick. 50% of players drafted in the final quarter of the first round are out of the league within five years. So that's the fair standard to hold Ager to.

bust
Well, if bust means "a player with high expectations who didn't pan out" then Ager won't be one. He might come around, but saying that he might do better on a worse team seems moot as it's common on this blog's front page to see" "In d-league, mo ager put up 11 points on 4-13 shooting".

My point about our sg's was tongue-in-cheek. We haven't made too many bad personal decisions, and it's okay if we miss in the draft every now and then, especially in such a weak draft. Is there anyone drafted after ager that the mavericks would be better off having?
