View of What's To Come in the MVP Vote?

The three "experts" (where's Kelly Dwyer?) at SI.com have announced their picks for MVP. Two out of three have Nash.

Jack McCallum:
I tried to think of a reason not to vote Nash both because he has won the last two and because Nowitzki has had a great season with a great team. But at the end of the day, I just can't see anyone as valuable to his team as Nash is to Phoenix. He is not only the on-court QB but also the off-court psychologist/diplomat who keeps the Suns together. And his play has picked up over these final two months, particularly in head-to-heads against Dirk and in a recent win over Kobe and the Lakers.
Marty Burns:
It's difficult to pass up the best player on the best team (Nowitzki), but I'm going with Nash because he means more to his club. Nash just makes everyone around him so much better. Nowitzki is a double-double machine and a go-to guy, but he doesn't propel the Mavs like Nash does the Suns. Also, Nash schooled Dirk in their most recent head-to-head meetings. That's good enough for me.
I cannot stand that argument anymore.

I'm not going to say Nash isn't extremely important to Phoenix. The offense is designed around him, and it wouldn't work without him. And the same goes for Dirk in Dallas. Just because he doesn't bring the ball up the floor doesn't mean he isn't the most important player on the offensive end of the floor. Just look at the numbers. (via 82games.com)

Let's break that down.
  • Dirk plays more minutes per game than Nash. Being able to keep your teams best player on the court as much as possible is a good thing.
  • Dirk helps the Dallas offense more than Nash helps the Suns offense.

MVP vote
Why don't any of these 'experts' even mention Tim Duncan for MVP? He's simply the best player in the NBA at both ends of the court. He's also got the best +/- in the league by far [123 points more than Dirk].

i still
fully expect nash to win the mvp.. for some reason the mavs cant get respect, though they have accomplished more than nash and the suns... people willalways say the mavs cant get it done in the playoffs, but then fail to mention what the suns have done in the playoffs... i hate the suns

duncan is without a doubt 2nd on my mvp list...

IF
the clippers beat portland... and GSW beats sad sac... and the lakers lose to the greatest player in the history of the universe with the greatest coach wih the greatest mustache....

that would mean the lakers would only have a 1/2 game lead on the clippers and warriors for the 8th seed...

the hornets play the nuggets tonight... they currently stand1 game behind the warriors and clips, and 2.5 behind the lakers

i'd really
dont wanna see the lakers... i know they are not hitting right now... but all it takes is a relaxing dallas team to come in a piss off kobe to take the series to 7 games.  I know we can handle the nellies, and would rather see the hornets or clips, but never the lakers.

totally agree
would much rather see the warriors then the lakers.. dont care how much the lakers are stug-uh-ling... kobe still went for 50...

ok the more i think about this, the more furious
i get...

obviously i think that a person who spends an entire season with a team to write a book on them and then votes for that teams PG for MVP is fishy...

secondly, this idiot marty burns says..."Nash schooled Dirk in their most recent head-to-head meetings. That's good enough for me."... wtf marty... isnt this an award for the whole season... why the hell play the first 41 games of the year... maybe we should just get playstation to simlulate the first half and pick our all stars since those games obviously dont mean anything... that dirk game winner? meant nothing....

my god, if you are going to pick nash come up with a good reason and dont spend an entire season with them
