Ray Allen
The Ray Allen to Boston trade is pretty bad for Boston.  It's got to be good to be a Sonics fan right now.

Is it done?
What is it?

I'm still at work, and I'm goign crazy missing the draft!

by Wes Cox on Jun 28, 2007 7:07 PM CDT up reply actions

trade
The Celtics traded the No. 5 pick (which turned out to be Jeff Green), Delonte West and Wally Szczerbiak to the Sonics for Ray Allen.  Ray Allen just isn't the same player any more.

35
They just announced that Boston gets the 35 too.

Really?
I'm not sure I see how this is good for Seattle, unless they plan on trading some of these new pieces very soon.  All these guys play virtually the same position.

by boombacloud on Jun 28, 2007 8:02 PM CDT up reply actions

Seattle
Seattle now has a core of young talented individuals.  They still need a center but Ray Allen is going to start getting worse before too long.  They are still a few years away and when their kids are ready for prime time, Allen will have retired or be a bench player.

agreed, but...
what do the Sonics do now with 4 players that all play the same position, albeit differently? Durant, Green, Wally, and West all play SF.  Something has got to give here.

And what happens to Lewis?

by boombacloud on Jun 28, 2007 8:40 PM CDT up reply actions

Awesome
You think Delonete West plays SF.

Lewis is gone.

Dirk Nowitzki: Softer than a melted frosty.

Hawk
Hawks just drafted their "point" guard of the future, Acie Law IV.  Or as I like to call him Jason Terry II.

Stu
Weird moment when Stu Scott does an impression of Stephen A Smith. Then they cut to Smith who has a very forced grin.  Might be a bit awkward at the ESPN water cooler Friday.

Haha, nice
I hope to hear Stephen A say Stanko Borac tonight.

ray allen
the mavs should've been in on him he would have taken a lot of pressure off dirk. Terry, buckner, and 34 should of got it done.

Rick James

by spriteman on Jun 28, 2007 8:07 PM CDT reply actions

true
but if the mavs want to improve they have to hope he can stay heathly. he's 31, a 31 with a lot of tread on the tires but he's an upgrade over anybody else the mavs want to pair with dirk and. he wouldn't cost as much as it would take to trade for one of the bigger names out in the market.

Rodney Stuckey
The Pistons select this black kid from Eastern Washington who promplty gets up and starts kissing this white family.  I thought I was dreaming until Mike Tirico said that they were his foster parents.  Bizarre sight for a minute there.

Whoa the Knicks might actually do something right
Channing Frye + Steve Francis for Zach Randolph and a few spare parts is a good trade by Zeke.

Randolph
excellent player but glad the mavs didn't get him, knucklehead but good player, Ray Allen = greatness

Nelsons love them some imported...
What are odds that GS nor Dallas take a North American player in the draft at all?

I think the Stephen A / Vitale split-screen just gave me epilepsy.

Dudley
There goes my first pick.  I guess it was hoping for a little much for this guy to fall out of the first round.

Does PHX cash-for-pick...
mean that they have the KG trade all locked up?

by DitchThePlaybook on Jun 28, 2007 9:09 PM CDT reply actions

Personally
I'm more excited about the chance for fazekas or mcroberts.

Nellie made the right pick with belinelli.

by Rigaudeau on Jun 28, 2007 9:26 PM CDT up reply actions

Those would be good picks too.

No McRoberts
Dude, we don't want McRoberts. I've seen every single one of McRobert's games and he has no post presence. He's an excellent Point Forward, and can dribble and pass. He's a big oversized PG, which would be fine if he could shoot.

Glen Davis would be a much better pick.

Texas Teams
I like how both San Antonio and Houston have drafted players that won't be huge factors for a couple of seasons.  Our window is still open.

no
Mcroberts has the look of a major bust i would go the route of fazekas/big baby/green or even alando tucker rather than mcroberts

scratch that
suns take Tucker

Dallas should pick McRoberts
if he is still there.

by Longhorn @ Mavs Moneyball on Jun 28, 2007 9:50 PM CDT reply actions

mavs pick
gotta be byars doesn't it
Rick James

by spriteman on Jun 28, 2007 9:52 PM CDT reply actions

Better than McRoberts
But I was hoping for Tauren Green.

by BrodyV on Jun 28, 2007 9:57 PM CDT up reply actions

boring
but solid. It's a really good pick at 34. He'll make the roster and can contribute.

by Rigaudeau on Jun 28, 2007 9:59 PM CDT up reply actions

Fazekas! I like it!

Hollinger
Hollinger rated Nick as the 7th best college player in the draft using his new fangled formula.

Fazekas
I'm pretty down with that.

Glen Davis at #35?  I like him, but that's 10 picks too early.

by BrodyV on Jun 28, 2007 9:56 PM CDT reply actions

This is an outstanding pick
Fazekas was insanely productive in college.  At worst, he's better than Croshere.

by Mike Prada on Jun 28, 2007 9:56 PM CDT reply actions

At worst
I'd be better than Croshere, because I wouldn't create a salary cap hit.

You think Donnie would pay me the rookie minimum to be a 6'3" PF?

by BrodyV on Jun 28, 2007 9:58 PM CDT up reply actions

Hah
It's easy to say that, but be aware that Croshere was the #12 pick in the 1997 draft.

The only big man that's been any productive that's was drafted in 2nd round in the last 5 years has been Boozer.

by unexpected on Jun 28, 2007 9:59 PM CDT up reply actions

bad pick
another tall white guy who can't defend and is considered to be soft shoud've of picked byars or big baby.
Rick James

by spriteman on Jun 28, 2007 9:57 PM CDT reply actions

Davis isn't that good a defender
Signature! I don't need no stinking signature!!

by DerekSTheRed on Jun 28, 2007 9:59 PM CDT up reply actions

big baby
maybe not but the mavs don't need another guy like fazekas  with baby at least you'd have some sort of low post presence. fazekas doesn't make the mavs better. baby or byars can

Portland
Portland is having themselves one heck of a draft.  I've been impressed with all the moves.  Of course it doesn't hurt that Allen keeps buying draft picks in a deep draft.

why isn't cuban opening his checkbook?
The blazer now have oden, aldridge, frye, and mcroberts. I have to say.... that's pretty nice depth in the post.

by Rigaudeau on Jun 28, 2007 10:08 PM CDT up reply actions

OK Wes
Is Fazekas any good? Gimme details. ;)

by ptrck on Jun 28, 2007 10:09 PM CDT reply actions

You know what?
IT'S STANKO TIME!

Come on.  Number 50.  Give me Stanko.

by BrodyV on Jun 28, 2007 10:09 PM CDT reply actions

Barac and Yue back to back!
Donnie Nelson just punched a whole in the wall.

by Wes Cox on Jun 28, 2007 10:14 PM CDT reply actions

would the mavs trade up
to get byars
Rick James

by spriteman on Jun 28, 2007 10:16 PM CDT reply actions

Probably not
Since Gray or Green will probably be there at #50 if Byars isn't.  Any one of those 3 would be a quality pick for them.

by BrodyV on Jun 28, 2007 10:17 PM CDT up reply actions

mustafa shakur
excellent defender any chance dallas takes a flier on him with 50
Rick James

by spriteman on Jun 28, 2007 10:24 PM CDT reply actions

More likely
at #60, if at all.  Better chance he ends up an undrafted free agent.

by BrodyV on Jun 28, 2007 10:27 PM CDT up reply actions

seibutus
basically the same as fazekas but i think he has more potential
Rick James

by spriteman on Jun 28, 2007 10:42 PM CDT reply actions

Utah
Utah picked Herbert Hill which is someone I wish Dallas would have taken.  They can still get Kyle Visser which would make me extremely happy.

by DerekSTheRed on Jun 28, 2007 10:54 PM CDT reply actions

Center
Well they picked a center but it wasn't Visser.  Because Rakovic is raw and European we won't see this guy for a while which is probably a good thing given the depth of the team.
