Oh be quiet buckets,

you were all being negative for no reason earlier. Ye of little faith.

I hate having Webber at the studio

He’s always biased against the Mavs…and I’m not sure if I agree with Barkley’s comments regarding the Mavs players and complaining about new-found freedom now that Avery’s gone.

Wow

Not a great first possession

by Marie on Oct 30, 2008 7:20 PM CDT reply actions

Stop and pop for Josh

First two points for either team

by Marie on Oct 30, 2008 7:21 PM CDT reply actions

Rockets

Getting to the line early already. And Damp needs to start expecting the passes around the basket.

by Marie on Oct 30, 2008 7:23 PM CDT reply actions

Sloppy start

Fire Todd Dodge. Seriously. 45-17 to Troy. 0-12 is only four games away.

by sprite on Oct 30, 2008 7:23 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah

Houston seems more active…and awake

by Marie on Oct 30, 2008 7:24 PM CDT up reply actions

Geez

Foul while shooting three? That’s one more trip to the line!

by Marie on Oct 30, 2008 7:24 PM CDT reply actions

Josh again

Scoring all of the points so far

by Marie on Oct 30, 2008 7:25 PM CDT reply actions

Kidd

coast to coast. I like that.

Mavs amazingly

playing good interior D

its early

by bbob on Oct 30, 2008 7:27 PM CDT reply actions

Oh man

How can Yao miss when Kidd is guarding him?

by Marie on Oct 30, 2008 7:27 PM CDT reply actions

Howard

Nice

Fire Todd Dodge. Seriously. 45-17 to Troy. 0-12 is only four games away.

by sprite on Oct 30, 2008 7:28 PM CDT reply actions

Damp

Had a good chance right there, but was too slow

by Marie on Oct 30, 2008 7:28 PM CDT reply actions

U can't stop him

Fire Todd Dodge. Seriously. 45-17 to Troy. 0-12 is only four games away.

Josh

Damn, he’s fired up

by Marie on Oct 30, 2008 7:29 PM CDT reply actions

Really on fire. The Rockets just made their FTs.

by Norsktroll on Oct 30, 2008 7:29 PM CDT up reply actions

Wright

His D seems fine to me, just way to jittery on offense.

Fire Todd Dodge. Seriously. 45-17 to Troy. 0-12 is only four games away.

by sprite on Oct 30, 2008 7:29 PM CDT reply actions

Ha, and it was the Rockets that ended up calling a timeout

I thought Carlisle was going to, but he let them play it out, work it out themselves

by Marie on Oct 30, 2008 7:29 PM CDT reply actions

JOSH!!!

Beautiful spin on the ball on that layup.

by ptrck on Oct 30, 2008 7:29 PM CDT reply actions

Was that a lucky three by Artest?

If not, I didn’t realize shooting threes was part of his game

by Marie on Oct 30, 2008 7:33 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah

Damp still sucks. Go Dirk.

Fire Todd Dodge. Seriously. 45-17 to Troy. 0-12 is only four games away.

by sprite on Oct 30, 2008 7:33 PM CDT reply actions

Well

We all remember what happens to J-Ho after the 1st quarter…. He disappears. Hopefully that doesn’t happen this year.

Fire Todd Dodge. Seriously. 45-17 to Troy. 0-12 is only four games away.

by sprite on Oct 30, 2008 7:38 PM CDT reply actions

Anybody else

worried about stack this year?

by bbob on Oct 30, 2008 7:43 PM CDT reply actions

I am, a bit

He’s getting hurt more frequently

by Marie on Oct 30, 2008 7:44 PM CDT up reply actions

Of course

He’s old

by sprite on Oct 30, 2008 7:45 PM CDT reply actions

No foul!

Yao missed by himself

by Marie on Oct 30, 2008 7:45 PM CDT reply actions

Nice 1st quarter

Love the tempo, but will they be able to sustain it? That’s the question.

Fire Todd Dodge. Seriously. 45-17 to Troy. 0-12 is only four games away.

by sprite on Oct 30, 2008 7:47 PM CDT reply actions

If Bass and maybe Green play well the second unit should be able to sustain this pace. Stack was the only one looking really cold.

by Norsktroll on Oct 30, 2008 7:49 PM CDT up reply actions

Adelman has not aged well :)

Yeah, I was gonna say

There always seems to be a drop off when the bench comes in

Team suffers

when JET is handling the ball.

by ptrck on Oct 30, 2008 7:53 PM CDT reply actions

I think

it’s Stack sucking the life out of the team. With his sucktitude.

Fire Todd Dodge. Seriously. 45-17 to Troy. 0-12 is only four games away.

Looks a bit like it. And how is Diop worth the MLE? Show some more big guy.

by Norsktroll on Oct 30, 2008 7:57 PM CDT up reply actions

you want JJ in?

Can’t pass or can’t shoot, take your pick.

by bbob on Oct 30, 2008 7:56 PM CDT up reply actions

Carlisle

needs to take a TO, or put Dirk and Kidd in. It’s the 1st game, they don’t need that much rest.

Fire Todd Dodge. Seriously. 45-17 to Troy. 0-12 is only four games away.

by sprite on Oct 30, 2008 7:59 PM CDT reply actions

And, i wish Kidd would shoot when he’s open…don’t be scared Jason!

ugh.

after watching the first and only half for me, i’ve concluded that every coach that comes in here will have an unhealthy obsession with jerry stackhouse. there’s no reason why he should get off the bench before gerald green at this point. nothing will persuade me otherwise.

Wright

Needs to be able to finish that. And I can’t believe Dirk fouled Scola there.

by Marie on Oct 30, 2008 8:47 PM CDT reply actions

Wright mises an easy layup

He continues to not shine, then I’m afraid we’re in for more Stack…

by ptrck on Oct 30, 2008 8:47 PM CDT reply actions

Wright sucks. He looks totally out matched.

Although I don’t know if he sucks (or if it’s possible to) worse than Stackhouse.

In fairness

Stack made a shot I assumed (by default) he was gonna miss

by ptrck on Oct 30, 2008 9:23 PM CDT reply actions

Not tonight....

at least not yet. i seem to recall someone saying he’s turnover-prone. i didn’t see any preseason, but that’s not the sort of thing that earns you PT.

by DitchThePlaybook on Oct 30, 2008 9:32 PM CDT up reply actions

I guess Carlisle doesn't see it that way.

http://www.nba.com/mavericks/stats/

.5 APG, 1.88 TOG in the preseason

He’ll see some time. Stack is old and won’t play a full season, but he’s probably a better option at this point.

by DitchThePlaybook on Oct 30, 2008 9:40 PM CDT up reply actions

why would he play?

we got to let stack and wright get that valuable PT.

well, i don’t think he’s worth howard. he’s a risk obviously and he has a expiring contract. judging by what the kings got for artest though, we could’ve probably moved bass and something for him though.

by Beasticon on Oct 30, 2008 9:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Because

they didn’t want to trade Howard. His D would help a lot here.

I'm not panicking.

I like how the Offense went today and the D should be fixable. What killed us was way too much Stack and the 2nd Q when Kidd played for like 30 seconds.

Jason Terry is still terrible and Jerry Stackhouse has actually gotten worse.

But Dirk is still Dirk and Josh looked good from what I saw.

Why did Gerald Green not get any run? I was looking forward to seeing a little athleticism out there.

Oh well.

It’s not like Stern would ever let us win a title anyhow.

But, hey! He gave us the All-Star game!!! That’s almost as good! Yay!

Some thoughts

Dirk is back to being a scoring machine once again, but only ONE point in the entire 4th? He disappeared there, no excuses.

J-Kidd is also back to filling the stat line: 7 pts, 7 rebs, 12 dimes, and 4 steal (only 1 turnover).

No easy baskets when the 2nd unit is on. And Stack needs to be shipped, ASAP.

We have time to fix things. It’s just one game. I trust Coach Carlisle.

I’m done. Good night everyone.

by ptrck on Oct 30, 2008 10:16 PM CDT reply actions

Dirk

Got fouled at least once and didn’t get the call, but you’re right, he needs to score more down the stretch. His leg was all wrapped up there, which I think happened when Yao popped him, but I could be wrong.
