To start things off...
via the weekend dime at ESPN.com
Mavs management, furthermore, sees quite clearly now that a group it felt needed a significant shakeup 10 months ago still needs at least one more quality newcomer via trade — preferably a scoring threat at either shooting guard or center — to nudge Dallas back into the West’s elite.
That’s the move, according to NBA front office sources, that Dallas is chasing hard now.
Really? Just now?

Donnie is rumored to call a ton of teams with ridiculous suggestions and multi-team deals
Maybe today he suggests this to the Wizards GM ;-)

I dont mind the ridiculous suggestions actually… doing that is what gets Pau Gasol for Kwame freakin brown…
But the rumors about him doing it a ton? I cant imagine that to be true up until recently…

The game is on NBA TV
And Kenny is in the studio, and he no longer thinks Dirk is great…just good.

We better beat the Wizards by like 50 or something
I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the last game…that was so damn embarrassing! Everyone knew the trade was a bad idea, but to have Devin and the Nets put an exclamation mark on it like that…it was horrible.

It was the only recurring theme I repeated in my game preview for the Mavs-Blazers game I sent to Dave today ;-)
At the beginning of the season Wright looked like the Mavs got something nice in addition out of it, but in the last 10 games he was in the doghouse. If you consider they also bought back Diop… Not even speaking of the two picks and that the other guys we traded had no impact in Jersey.

That's what puzzles me
Is that they are essentially the same team, with the only big addition being Jermaine O’Neal. Did getting rid of TJ Ford affect them that badly? I always thought Calderon was better. Unless the missing piece was really Rasho!

Jermaine was not a good deal
While Portland shipped him out too early, he was never that big of a star. Indiana got his best years, and now Ford is winning games for them and Rasho is an interesting expiring contract they can still trade.
Also Toronto’s wing players are horribuuuuuule this year. Kapono is a shooting specialist who doesn’t shoot, and the rest is just mediocre. Bargnani is among the most undefined players in the league in terms of position. C, PF, or SF? And not in a good way like Artest and Marion.

Who besides Dirk gets his number retired with the Mavs?
I’m asking since the Blazers retire a lot of players, and the Mavs not so much. They retired Terry Porter (coach of the Suns now, all-time assist leader) and Bobby Gross (just a role player on the championship team) as #30 last week. Ironically Sheed also wears #30, but it’s doubtful they will do that for his off-court issues.

Happy holidays
I probably won’t have an Internet connection over Christmas and for the Mavs@Blazers game :-(
Have a good time with family and friends.

Singleton ...
I think he should be getting more min, everytime he is on the floor he has those numbers. I couldn’t see this game, but the Wizards defense tonight must be like the Celtics. The mavs shoot 5-30 from 3pt? The DMN said that bass was out of the game, because the coach staff wanted to send a message. And you people said that Josh didn’t played the 4th. Is that true?

Yeah, Josh didn't play in the 4th
I think this was also reminiscent of the Toronto game. As for the three point percentage, some of those were wide open looks that just didn’t go in, so I wouldn’t quite say it was good defense from the Wizards. 30 3pt attempts is way too many…they were just hoisting them.

Yeah, I was kidding ...
The wizards are the worst team on the league in defense, the mavs must have been terrible on that game. Anyway, I don’t know what to read on this team. Outside of Dirk, Jet and Kidd, I don’t see anyone playing with heart and all that. Josh sometimes seems lost. I don’t know what it is. But I hope we can find soon. Just the fact that after being destroyed by the nets, you come in the next game and shoot 30 3pt, making just 5 of them, tells a lot. The team need to shoot closer to the rim and singleton has to play more. And I hope Carlisle is taking care of Green, because he can be a very good player, and hopefully he’ll be playing by the end of January. Thanks Marie!!
