To start things off...

via the weekend dime at ESPN.com

Mavs management, furthermore, sees quite clearly now that a group it felt needed a significant shakeup 10 months ago still needs at least one more quality newcomer via trade — preferably a scoring threat at either shooting guard or center — to nudge Dallas back into the West’s elite.

That’s the move, according to NBA front office sources, that Dallas is chasing hard now.

Really? Just now?

probably would

I dont mind the ridiculous suggestions actually… doing that is what gets Pau Gasol for Kwame freakin brown…

But the rumors about him doing it a ton? I cant imagine that to be true up until recently…

The game is on NBA TV

And Kenny is in the studio, and he no longer thinks Dirk is great…just good.

He said the same about Josh and Kidd

And that the Mavs are no longer within the top eight best teams in the West

We better beat the Wizards by like 50 or something

I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the last game…that was so damn embarrassing! Everyone knew the trade was a bad idea, but to have Devin and the Nets put an exclamation mark on it like that…it was horrible.

but I figured they JUST redid the Macbooks so I was safe… I am holding out though for a newer iphone, and mac accessories

I asked for an iPod touch for Christmas

That was recently upgraded too, so that should also be safe, in my way of thinking

and come out with a 64gb one… you might want to hold off opening it until after jan 6th… if the iphone is upgraded to 32gb, then the touch will more than likely be upgraded to 64gb

Any accessories you buy for it though, make sure and go through the educational discount program, I think you’ll save money going through that over amazon

It was the only recurring theme I repeated in my game preview for the Mavs-Blazers game I sent to Dave today ;-)

At the beginning of the season Wright looked like the Mavs got something nice in addition out of it, but in the last 10 games he was in the doghouse. If you consider they also bought back Diop… Not even speaking of the two picks and that the other guys we traded had no impact in Jersey.

by Norsktroll on Dec 21, 2008 5:07 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Did you see Krstic is coming back to the league and signing with OKC?

That's what puzzles me

Is that they are essentially the same team, with the only big addition being Jermaine O’Neal. Did getting rid of TJ Ford affect them that badly? I always thought Calderon was better. Unless the missing piece was really Rasho!

"We know we're right there, but 'right there' in this league doesn't get you anywhere." -- Dirk Nowitzki

by Marie on Dec 21, 2008 5:42 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Jermaine was not a good deal

While Portland shipped him out too early, he was never that big of a star. Indiana got his best years, and now Ford is winning games for them and Rasho is an interesting expiring contract they can still trade.

Also Toronto’s wing players are horribuuuuuule this year. Kapono is a shooting specialist who doesn’t shoot, and the rest is just mediocre. Bargnani is among the most undefined players in the league in terms of position. C, PF, or SF? And not in a good way like Artest and Marion.

by Norsktroll on Dec 21, 2008 5:47 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, Bargs must be such a disappointment to them

Who besides Dirk gets his number retired with the Mavs?

I’m asking since the Blazers retire a lot of players, and the Mavs not so much. They retired Terry Porter (coach of the Suns now, all-time assist leader) and Bobby Gross (just a role player on the championship team) as #30 last week. Ironically Sheed also wears #30, but it’s doubtful they will do that for his off-court issues.

Another great show is Spaced

I love British shows…I asked for the series DVD for Christmas…it’s excellent, I highly recommend it if you guys like AD and The Office

I love me some Pegg and Frost.

Spaced is awesome

I also like The IT Crowd, though their brand of humor is different; same goes for The Mighty Boosh (both British shows)

Yeah both those shows are good.

Matt Barry is great. That show he was in, Garth Marengi’s Darkplace. The black guy from the IT Crowd was also in it.

Oh my God

I LOVE Darkplace! That show is so intentionally cheesy, I love it. Yeah, that guy in Darkplace and IT Crowd is Richard Ayoade…he’s a pretty good director as well, directing music videos by Arctic Monkeys (one of my favorite bands) and Vampire Weekend

I hate it when we are clearly the favorites

and an announcer picks us too lose before the game starts (like kenny)…. and we make him look so smart by halftime… Barkley has made a living off of doing that to us for years, and kenny seems to have caught on to that trend

How true

I switched it since Kenny is being so negative (or realistic)

I switched to the BOS/NY game to find out how Boston lost their huge lead…but of course these Boston homers choose not to talk about that and just praise their players

A blackhole and a TO machine

Just like The George. If I were Carlisle, I’ve got to live with that. Remember when coach used to have him enter like late 3rd/early 4th, and he instantly scores 4-10 points?

Singleton ...

I think he should be getting more min, everytime he is on the floor he has those numbers. I couldn’t see this game, but the Wizards defense tonight must be like the Celtics. The mavs shoot 5-30 from 3pt? The DMN said that bass was out of the game, because the coach staff wanted to send a message. And you people said that Josh didn’t played the 4th. Is that true?

by hugommorais on Dec 21, 2008 8:38 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, Josh didn't play in the 4th

I think this was also reminiscent of the Toronto game. As for the three point percentage, some of those were wide open looks that just didn’t go in, so I wouldn’t quite say it was good defense from the Wizards. 30 3pt attempts is way too many…they were just hoisting them.

"We know we're right there, but 'right there' in this league doesn't get you anywhere." -- Dirk Nowitzki

by Marie on Dec 21, 2008 9:11 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, I was kidding ...

The wizards are the worst team on the league in defense, the mavs must have been terrible on that game. Anyway, I don’t know what to read on this team. Outside of Dirk, Jet and Kidd, I don’t see anyone playing with heart and all that. Josh sometimes seems lost. I don’t know what it is. But I hope we can find soon. Just the fact that after being destroyed by the nets, you come in the next game and shoot 30 3pt, making just 5 of them, tells a lot. The team need to shoot closer to the rim and singleton has to play more. And I hope Carlisle is taking care of Green, because he can be a very good player, and hopefully he’ll be playing by the end of January. Thanks Marie!!
