Shaq sat out last night's game
I am guessing that he’ll play tonight. Nash had flu-like symptoms and didn’t play against the Hornets; not sure what his status is.

Haven't found out anything about Josh yet
Game-time decision, maybe?

Ric Bucher thinks Dallas will miss the playoffs
Though he admits that this year the playoff odds in the West can change at a moments notice, and for Dallas in particular he doesn’t give a compelling reason for it other than that he thinks 8 other teams will be better.

I read that as well
And thought, “Isn’t it too early to be making playoff predictions?” I guess they’re out of things to write about.

Agreed...
…I wish the MVP predictions would stop too. And Rookie of the Year. There are so many things that can still happen. Injuries, Winning/losing streaks, breakout players. I don’t like early predictions, but, in keeping with the conversation, I think the Mavs and all 3 Texas teams will sneak in. My hometown Bulls will be a lottery team again, and I won’t get to go to a playoff game.

Who’s new coach were you asking about? Chicago’s or Dallas’? :)

Chicago's
Sorry, I should have clarified. I used to like watching the Bulls a few years ago. Right now it seems like they have no identity and Hinrich is a shell of his former self.

No problem...
… Vinny Del Negro? Eh, it’s a change. I’m not for hiring a coach with zero coaching experience, though. Atleast the Bulls ARE doing better right now, then they were at this point last year.
Last year, under Coach Scott Skiles (who, imho should STILL be coaching the team), they struggled until he got the axe on Christmas Eve. For the season, they had a reversal of record in 07-08 (33-49), as opposed to 06-07 (49-33, eliminated defending champion Miami Heat in first round of playoffs, and I was actually excited! The Bulls were back!) I should’ve known better.
The players that they have, with the exception of Derrick Rose, would be scrubs on any other team contender. Hinrich (a rip-off @ $10mill a year), would ride the pine on the Lakers. Joakim Noah? Ha. (Anyone catch Tim Duncan school him down low the night before Thanksgiving?) Ben Gordon is inconsistent and not worth the money he was asking for.
Back to the issue of coaching, though (sorry, I can ramble for awhile on the wreck the Bulls have become, again.). I do not think Skiles should have been fired. The players quit on him, not vice versa. Interm coach Jim Boylan should still be an assistant. Vinny Del Negro should still be in Phoenix. They are, however, atleast .500.

D'antoni...
…might’ve been ok. It’s one of those ‘I guess we’ll never know’ kind of things. I supoosed one way of looking at it is that he could never get the Suns anywhere, so why would he be able to get the Bulls, who probably have about one-tenth of the talent that the Suns do, anywhere.
Doug Colins was rumored, too. So was Marc Jackson, wasn’t he? I think he and D’Antoni both interviewed for the Knicks job. I think Rick Carlisle might’ve interviewed for the Bulls job too. Avery Johnson, I think was rumored, too. With the exception on Marc Jackson, most of the coaches we bypassed for Del Negro have some coaching experience!

Tripe.
He almost completely dismisses the entire article in first paragraph, but hey – he’s gotta get a paycheck so he might as well drum something up…
I can’t stand Bucher because it seems like crap like this is always coming out of his mouth. Me yelling ‘Shut up, Ric Bucher’ [press next channel button] is common occurrence in this house.

I've got to admit
I love Ric Bucher for what he is…a douchebag. That All-Star bit was awesome…with the greased back hair, walking around douching it up…
but yes, his opinions and real commentary make me want to go find a toilet to hug

Hey Wes
I was wondering if you guys here at mavsmoneyball have a mavsmoneyball party, where you invite everyone here to a mavs home game. I know azsnakepit does it for a Arizona Diamondbacks’ game, they call it "snakepit fest’ or something like that.
I have witnessed time and time again.

It sounds like fun
I don’t know, I think a lot of people would go. It’d be hard for me, unless it’s planned way in advance.

So... Yall are upset because Bucher thinks this isn't a playoff team?
LOL…
What have they done to prove they are a playoff team? They’ve beaten absolutely nobody aside from the Rockets…
To me, it’s the same crap we’ve seen for years now… They’ll hang tough with just about anybody in the league, but when crunch time rolls around they bend over and let teams punish them… See: Both Lakers games, the first Rockets game, Orlando, the first Clippers game, Cleveland running away in the 4th quarter…
With or without Josh (who chokes off 4th quarters regularly anyways), it’s the same crap, different year with this team…

I'm not upset at all
I think this team missing the playoffs could very well happen. I just found it odd that predictions are already being made. I think ESPN did the Eastern Conference version yesterday.

Oh I agree it's WAY too early to predict seedings...
But I don’t think it’s too early to say this doesn’t look or feel like a playoff team…
