did you all notice that article "AJ = CYA"
from dallasbasketball.com?
according to fisher, avery seems to think his days with mavs are numbered, and have started "covering his ass" in the media, specifically, through randy galloway, who suggested that:
a) friction between coach and owner could cause a breakup, b) Avery might initiate the breakup by resigning, and c) giving up his $20-mil contract here won’t be an issue because Avery will “get another job right away.’’
there is a perversive part of me that would not mind seeing mavs getting swept this season, so that cuban can start the house cleaning right away, starting from avery. that would be better than this slo-mo trainwreck happening in front of our eyes

I read it
I’m a frequent lurker of those boards, so I had heard about what was said on the Galloway show as well.
Not quite sure how I feel about Avery leaving or getting fired, whatever the case may be. I have no ill will towards him, but lately I have been questioning his coaching decisions and substitution patterns. It is also his job to make the right adjustments during the course of the game and especially after the half (it seems that the Mavericks tend to fold in the third quarter and on), though he can’t shoulder all of the blame for that. The players should be smart enough to make their own small adjustments; after all, they are professionals and are being paid to do this for a living.

I heard Galloway say that as well. I don’t know, it just sounds like a “grassy knoll” to me. If the Mavs win this series that will all be a moot point.
