Ugh

Call me a masochist, but I’m both planning on watching this game, and finishing my paper.

Anyone want to proofread a 25+ page paper on terrorism finance regulation in the U.S. and India?

by BrodyV on Apr 22, 2008 5:10 PM CDT   0 recs

That actually

does sound interesting, but I’ll pass.

It was interesting

About six weeks ago… Since then it’s mostly been a grind. I know more about Title III of the USA PATRIOT Act than I ever wanted to (although it probably is the least objectionable part of the Patriot Act by far).

I’m hoping that a win tonight can provide me some motivation to wrap up my conclusions and fix my bluebooking. I hate citations. There’s a reason that I didn’t want to be on a law journal.

Antonie Wright active

there is no absolutely no justification whatsoever for JuHo to get a single second of playing time.

Somebody other than Dirk has to step up...

Whether it’s Howard, Terry, Stackhouse, or Kidd… Somebody has to step up and keep the Hornets honest on the defensive end… If nobody is hitting shots, they’ll just start swarming Dirk like they did in the second half Saturday and we’ll have no chance…

Oh, and it’d be nice to see Dampier, Bass, or Stackhouse put Paul or West on their back the first time they get to the rim… Take a hard foul, for God’s sake. Nobody else in the league seems to mind doing so this time of year…

by N41D on Apr 22, 2008 5:45 PM CDT   0 recs

Chuck

calls a monster game for JHo. Please god, let that be so.

by BrodyV on Apr 22, 2008 6:03 PM CDT   0 recs

Dunleavy

Showing exactly why he’s no longer coaching-

Howard shooting 18 foot jumpers when there is a lane to drive is NOT “being aggressive.”

by BrodyV on Apr 22, 2008 6:15 PM CDT   0 recs

Ugh

Eddie Jones is on the floor.

Memo to Avery Johnson

The trap is not working. You have tried it. Repeatedly. It has not worked, not one single time.

EVERY FUCKING TIME YOU TRY IT DAVID WEST HAS AN OPEN SHOT. IT HAS NOT CREATED A SINGLE TURN OVER. STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT.

You know what the definition of insanity is? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

by BrodyV on Apr 22, 2008 6:27 PM CDT   0 recs

West

Already has 10 points.

by Marie on Apr 22, 2008 6:29 PM CDT   0 recs

Paul has like 7 assists already...

It’s time to come out of the trap, Avery… He’s clueless…

by N41D on Apr 22, 2008 6:30 PM CDT   0 recs

I think its now fair to say

that we should start planning ahead for the off-season…

Still the jumpers… still cant stop the pick and roll, still cant get anyone else to step up and defend

+1

Back away from the ledge!

by DitchThePlaybook on Apr 22, 2008 6:32 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Sorry

But I’m inclined to agree.

by BrodyV on Apr 22, 2008 6:33 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

1st quarter

and they get 39 points…

Let me repeat that… 39 points. All this talk about how we were supposed to come out and respond to Paul and thats what we give them.

I know I’m on the ledge, but I cant help but feel a sense of a loss of hope not only within myself with this team, but MY TEAM as well.

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:36 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

This NO team

has the same chip on their shoulder that GS did last year… it it looks like we know they do and are intimidated by it

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:32 PM CDT   0 recs

I hope

JET can get it going.

by Lizzy Lowblow on Apr 22, 2008 6:35 PM CDT   0 recs

Is it just me

Or does it seem like the team isn’t as fired up as they should be? They can’t let the crowd get to them…look what happened to Washington last night.

by Marie on Apr 22, 2008 6:36 PM CDT   0 recs

True...

but we shot 58% also… so expect that to come down a little too…

I hope we didnt pull out all our defensive answers in the first quarter to paul, because we are still waiting.

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:37 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I was just saying the same thing...

They are just going through the motions…there is no urgency…nothing…its just weird

by smt83 on Apr 22, 2008 6:37 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

You know what?

These last two games have absolutely convinced me of something that I was thinking all season- The people who say that Dirk is soft and that if only he had more leadership this team would be a winner have it completely backwards.

Dirk is the only thing that is dragging this team up toward respectability. He’s a superstar surrounded by an absolutely putrid supporting cast- and Josh Howard has been leading the charge of putridity this year. Replace Dirk with an “average” power forward (Say, Udonis Haslem or Emeka Okafor) and this team would struggle to win 30 games.

by BrodyV on Apr 22, 2008 6:36 PM CDT   0 recs

Relating to T-Mc ?

"Lenny Suckerpunch Never bet on me" - Elizabeth "The Lizzard" Lowblow

by Lizzy Lowblow on Apr 22, 2008 6:38 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

not at all

dirk can make it out of the first round… T-mac cant

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:40 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

yep

the only knock on dirk is is consistency in making those around him BETTER… he definitely performs at a superstar level and leads by example though, and cant be called for being soft after his comeback and level of play since then this year

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:39 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

My momma always said

That you can’t polish a turd. He does make those around him better- but lately they haven’t been making anything of it.

by BrodyV on Apr 22, 2008 6:40 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

haha

true… so do we trade josh then while he still has value and before he turns into finely?

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:42 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

To be honest...

Yes. And you do it for nothing but draft picks to get some flexibility and restock all the pics we’ve given away.

by BrodyV on Apr 22, 2008 6:43 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

that kinda throws away

what dirk is doing for us now then… right? And the kidd trade is down the drain, cuz we are rebuilding, so we gotta move him on out then right?

I think trading josh for someone who can come in a do something for us RIGHT NOW, would be nice…

Also I think revisiting the JET for Maggette trade again would be nice…

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:46 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Kidd's contract and J5

could get you anything you want. Just sayin’...

www.mavsmoneyball.com

by Wes Cox on Apr 22, 2008 6:46 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I was against the Kidd trade

But I don’t really mind having him around, not if it’ll get Dirk easier shots.

by Marie on Apr 22, 2008 6:47 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah but...

I’d argue his shots havent come any easier since then… all the trade did IMO is energize Dirk to a higher level…

But we still run the same offense we did before the kidd trade. Dont confuse Dirks play since the trade with that being because he is getting easier shots… Dirk just wants it more than he did pre-kidd trade

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:56 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

That's a great point

Maybe Dirk was just looking for some kind of change, like I’m sure we all are right now. If the management makes some positive off season moves, maybe that will energize him even more.

So are you pro-Harris, then?

by Marie on Apr 22, 2008 9:15 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I just hate seeing

a caliber player in Dirk playing for us right now and we not being able to capitalize on it while he is in his prime…

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:43 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Because

We’re doing, what, exactly, to capitalize on his level of play at the moment? Sure, we could continue to ride this scenario out for the next 5-6 years and get into the playoffs every year, only to lose in round 1. I’d rather blow it up next year, learn what w’ere doing the year after that, and start competing again in 2011.

by BrodyV on Apr 22, 2008 6:50 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Im starting to actually think like that...

but I also thought that when Manu hit the 3 in game 7 a few years ago also… I was screaming for a KG for Dirk trade….

Hopefully he proves me/us wrong again….

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:52 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

They also..

Need to get rid of some dead weight (ex: Juwan Howard, George, and Jones)

by Marie on Apr 22, 2008 6:46 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah

Agreed 100%. I find myself thinking, who else on this team can score? Terry OBVIOUSLY hasn’t been himself all season long, and Howard… well, we all know.

This is the first time I’m actually hoping Avery gets fired and we get a real coach.

by Carlo on Apr 22, 2008 6:52 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Can we please draw some fouls

Please? Pretty please? How about some vintage Josh?

by Marie on Apr 22, 2008 6:40 PM CDT   0 recs

foul calls

9 vs 3 in favor of NO… mostly because they attack the rim… but stack did that and didnt get a call on a few of those, so I can see why he thinks “whats the point?”

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:47 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I just now noticed

That we have this weird lineup on the floor…where is the offense going to come from?

by Marie on Apr 22, 2008 6:41 PM CDT   0 recs

Howard's bringing it!

"Lenny Suckerpunch Never bet on me" - Elizabeth "The Lizzard" Lowblow

by Lizzy Lowblow on Apr 22, 2008 6:46 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I love stack

but he looks old and rusty coming off the injury. I don’t think this is the time to be giving him a lot of burn.

by bbob on Apr 22, 2008 6:45 PM CDT   0 recs

it'd be nice though...

if the REAL stack could come out of this funk…

Thats the thing, we know what he is capable of… its just a matter of do we have the patience to let him work his way back into it…

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:49 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Its amazing...

All that crazy Serb does is shoot 3’s…and we decide to let him hang around sitting wide open on the 3 point line

by smt83 on Apr 22, 2008 6:50 PM CDT   0 recs

Except on that layup

Defense guys… DEFENSE!!!

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:51 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Holy crap

How could they turn that ball over?! It was a 3 on 1!

by Marie on Apr 22, 2008 6:50 PM CDT   0 recs

The Mavericks are more willing

to give up contested layups than any other team in the playoffs…

It’s pathetic how afraid this team is to commit a hard foul…

by N41D on Apr 22, 2008 6:52 PM CDT   0 recs

Dirk got suspended for a hard foul

Maybe that’s why…? Though actually, the team as a whole has been hesitant to do that even before the AK incident.

by Marie on Apr 22, 2008 6:53 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I'd say Damp

does a decent job of throwing some hard fouls when he wants… I remember the 3 laker game we played in this year he was punishing Kobe when he game down the lane with hard fouls…

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:54 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

But every team has had suspensions for that reason...

At some point in this series, someone is going to have to send a message by giving up a hard foul.

Or we’ll be watching Paul shoot floaters in the paint and Tyson Chandler cram it down our throats for 4 games and we’ll be going home.

by N41D on Apr 22, 2008 6:56 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

7-11 from the free throw line

At least we’re getting to the line, but we can’t miss these easy ones…I’m surprised Dirk has missed a couple already.

by Marie on Apr 22, 2008 6:55 PM CDT   0 recs

I don't understand...

Kidd goes for a lay up when he should pass…and passes when he should shoot…

by smt83 on Apr 22, 2008 6:58 PM CDT   0 recs

confidence issues...

he has missed more layups this year it seems like…

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:59 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

dang

when NO spreads the floor like that… our age really shows in being able to chase down those shooters.

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 6:58 PM CDT   0 recs

F-ing Pargo

Don’t tell me he’ll be the X factor tonight.

by Marie on Apr 22, 2008 6:59 PM CDT   0 recs

Two Scores in a row...

...at the rim. Damp & Dirk !!

"Lenny Suckerpunch Never bet on me" - Elizabeth "The Lizzard" Lowblow

by Lizzy Lowblow on Apr 22, 2008 6:59 PM CDT   0 recs

The Ric Flair thing

Is getting annoying. What is the significance of that again? I know that used to be Baron Davis’ thing when he was in NO.

by Marie on Apr 22, 2008 7:00 PM CDT   0 recs

Second...

I can’t imagine a grown man keeping a straight face making that noise at a public event.

by bbob on Apr 22, 2008 7:03 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

My favorite lineup

is on the floor…most athletic one we have..i think w/ Chandler having to guard Bass we could give him some more fouls

by bbob on Apr 22, 2008 7:00 PM CDT   0 recs

yeah but chandler then owns us

on the rebounds…

I like damp out there whenever he can be… Point being damp has only played 10 min, and chandler has 3 offensive rebounds… and thats with his team shooting 60% right now… so there is not a lot of defensive rebounds for the mavs to go after as it is…

Remember when we tried to go athletic against the Warriors last year vs when we won 67 with dampier at the starting center?

This line up is MORE exciting to watch, but not as effective.

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 7:04 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Bass can blow by Chandler

Like he did as I wrote that out. And dirk can post up West. On D, Avery has Damp helping trap and hes too slow to get back and cover or get position for a rebound.

by bbob on Apr 22, 2008 7:09 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Waiting for Bass

To have a game like he did against NO in the last game of the season

by Marie on Apr 22, 2008 7:10 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Peja

Now I remember why I hate that guy. Flashbacks to damn Kings days..

by Avery210 on Apr 22, 2008 7:01 PM CDT   0 recs

West

is abusing Dirk right now… that guy is picking him apart all over the floor… with no FT’s

Dirk is living at the line right now.

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 7:06 PM CDT   0 recs

Yeah

He’s easily just shooting over him

by Marie on Apr 22, 2008 7:07 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Dirk

Trying to singlehandedly keep us in this thing

by BrodyV on Apr 22, 2008 7:06 PM CDT   0 recs

Jho...

another miss…nice

by smt83 on Apr 22, 2008 7:07 PM CDT   0 recs

why he cant

finish at the rim just amazes me… he choses to shot a floater 5 feet before the rim

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 7:08 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

jones??

was that the hard foul we were looking for? A hug?

by Toddy on Apr 22, 2008 7:08 PM CDT   0 recs

Get Eddie Jones off the damn floor...

What does Avery honestly think Jones is going to do for this team?
