Alrighty...
so who is gonna show up tonight?
Josh? Kidd? Stack? Bass and Terry (again)?
I hope we approach this game the same we did last game. Attacking early and often. Shallow rotation from the bench.
This game will be dictated by which group of Mavs come out of halftime to start the 3rd… no matter what the score is. IF we play big in the 3rd again like we really haven’t been, except on Friday, I say we pull it out.
Here's one to help ya
Good Game so far. I’m at the first TO, tied 12 – 12.

Love it
I would give anything to see Dirk go off tonight (ala 50 point game). However, I’ll take a strong performance from Dirk, Howard, Terry and Kidd. Asking a lot (I know), but give me that and we’re at 2-2 in this series.
Dilemma
If I had known that this game three was going to be tonight two months ago I wouldn’t have bought seats to the Kanye show (Denver). Can’t believe Im not going to be able to watch this game…
Mavs
Don’t forget. This N.O. team was laughing at you in game 2. Screaming “you can’t guard me!” Don’t forget that…kill them
I would like nothing more
than a solid butt-whooping tonight

remember last game
when damp wasnt even ready for the opening tip?
I thought that was going to be the start of a long game for us…
And he got it now!
Yeah
What was up with that J when Terry passed it to him for that fastbreak…I was expecting him to go baseline for a dunk or layup
Mo-Pete playing full court on Kidd to start?
I don’t see that being particularly effective. Didn’t take long to get a switch and post up Paul to set up that Terry foul
Freaking Josh!
Dribbling and dribbling like his life depends on it and Dirk was open, wanting the ball!
He's OK
Gives a LOT of techs though, so I hated him during the Don Nelson whine era.

We did pretty well with the comments in game 2, I think
And surprisingly, I think we were less than a hundred in game 3
It is the first one I have seen
in the new format.
Outstanding work. I am impressed.

please no..
not yet… I still think he can play a big game for us, but he IS hurt and he is not ready yet to play from what I understand… Count on avery though to give him a burn tonight…
please no...
I dont care if they get a t… I dont want any part of GS to be apart of the hornets right now
Come On, Josh
JET looks like he’s going to have a big game for us. Even if Josh can’t contribute offensively at least help on the defensive boards!
his lay up %
has to be amoung the WORST in the NBA…
As does his percentage of him taking a 3, but it counting as a 2 bc his toe is on the line.
Kidd
might’ve just been switched onto him by accident, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Kidd muscle up Pargo when he’s in. Anything to throw off the little guy’s rhythm early.
i see
well then, at least one of terry and kidd needs to be on the ocurt. can’t give both of them a rest at hte same time
Rare Gnats Sex
yeah defensively he is a liability...
but he has had his moments early on in the year where his speed and shooting was really good…
But avery hasnt played the guy in 4 months… why bring him in now
yep
nothing but a liability this series.
yup
Good D on West and pretty active on the boards

Instead,
Avery takes out George who was actually contributing. Moron,
Good trail by Bass
saved that scoring op

Josh Splits
Pre-All Star Break: 35% from three
Post-All Star Break: 25% from three
Yikes.
by MeanMr.Mustard on Apr 27, 2008 9:32 PM CDT up reply actions
wow
so this game josh can’t shoot a J and stack can’t tought the ball. that doesn’t really bode well for the series
Rare Gnats Sex
its two very simply concepts
yet avery likes to prove us wrong… when in reality WE prove HIM right time and time again with these boneheaded lineups
Its one thing to give guys some rest
but to unloading the bench in stretches just KILLS us time and time again…
Note to Avery: Our bench sucks
brings us back to the point we have been making since 3 min into the game
josh is NOT allowed to touch the ball on the offensive end
I sometimes forget that guy was ever a Mav
However, I always remember that he has a championship ring…I’m still bitter about it
Best pass i've seen Kidd make for ya in the Play Offs
Josh shoulda scored it, darn.
"Lenny Suckerpunch Never bet on me" - Elizabeth "The Lizzard" Lowblow
Let's see.
Josh can’t make a layup or a jump shot. What exactly is he bringing to the table?
I think with Damp, bass, and dirk in,
howard would have a smaller defender on him and be able to post up and get to the rim
Bas, Damp & Kidd are fightin' for it
"Lenny Suckerpunch Never bet on me" - Elizabeth "The Lizzard" Lowblow
Lacksadaisacal
This one word summarizes Howard’s approach perfectly. I have no idea what’s going on with this guy. After his idiotic decision to talk on the radio, he really needs to make it up to the Mavs organization.
I forget that he’s not even a young player anymore—he’ 28. The maturity and poise (throw in heart as well) are severely lacking.
Let's hope
we swapped our typical bad third quarter for a bad second quarter.
I've never had it
I think we only have one Church’s open in Orlando and I don’t even know where it is
Annniiie !!!
Now I gots chicken grease all over ma keys. Seriously!

So I guess talking about FRIED CHICKEN
is more entertaining than our first half was…
Come on BOYZZZZ!!! DADDA NEEDA BIG 3RD QRT!!!
They'll come through
The big ? marks are Josh and Stack. One of them HAS to pick it up. Forget the injuries – look at Dirk. No excuses this time of year.
I switched over to the Stars - they just tied the game 2-2
This is my favorite time of the year…hope both the Mavs and Stars have looooong playoff runs. The Stars definitely have the better shot after knocking off the defending Stanley Cup champions, and already stealing home-ice from San Jose. See, the Stars have a nice mix of young guys and veterans (hint, Avery).
not going back to hockey
after the crap they pulled a few years ago… I made the same commitment to baseball back in the 90s also. I’ll go to games every now and then, but I dont support/follow them like I do football and basketball locally
difference in tonight vs friday night?
we arent getting the calls. Not that they werent bad on fri, but they are going our way tonight like before
US shooting jumper after jumper might have something to do with that
yeah we were in the bonus with 8 min last game...
but those were some pretty iffy calls we got there to be honest with you…
I heard Ten Ties in the First Half
I think they were all on the Coaches,
Bet Avery and Scooter have theirs off efore the end o’ the game.

Horrible fast break
need to take advantage of these oppts. And then Josh jacks up a horrible J. Ugggh.

It's amazing to me...
They know driving it is a good thing but majority avoid it. Just amazing. Why would you think a jumpshot is the right choice? Damn.
does avery not understand
that he is coaching for his job right now. this is very very bad.
Rare Gnats Sex
Terry, bass, and dirk
have all secured their jobs next year…
Everyone else might wanna put their house up for sale
stack is just unbelievable
and this rests on avery for keeping him in..buddies or not, he shouldnt be in
Dirk is Really putting it ALL on the line
That’s Play Off Ball, Baby1
"Lenny Suckerpunch Never bet on me" - Elizabeth "The Lizzard" Lowblow
mavs need to take advantage
paul isn’t playingn nearly as well right now, they just need to break this NO defense a bit
Rare Gnats Sex
Dirk's Attitude
Hope it carries over to the rest of the team (sans JET – he has it too). He can see the season “swimming away”.
As much as Juwan
sucks now, he seems like one of the best bench teammates—always up cheering.
Howard...
Do you get it now? Do you see what’s going on right now and why you need to drive, drive and drive?
seriously
are these guys just not very intelligent (Stack and Josh)? If the shot’s not falling (and it’s clearly not), drive the damn ball. It’s so simple.

too bad
our purported second best player has contributed essentially nothing.

He'll never get it
He was defending himself on the infamous radio interview by saing how his numbers have improved every regular season. Well, as he should know, we don’t really care that much about the regular season around here.
Tally from the Top

....and yet does anyway. Bad combination. Confidence is everything in shooting

At least I won't have to worry about Mavs-Stars TV conflicts for much longer
Sorry I have zero confidence. It’s their turn to prove me wrong.
Thanks, Dirk, for at least showing up.
Enough with the jumpshots, please!
The lead can be cut by getting to the free throw line…and it also stops the clock!
Sorry if it's so repetitive
It’s just that it’s so obvious and I just want to bang my head on the wall because they’re not getting it
Their reviewing it
Call is a flagrant 2. But they could downgrade after a review

Congratulation, New Orleans
On your first win in Dallas since January 1998. It’s just a technicality now with 7 minutes or so left.
That was a bad call – but it doesn’t matter. We used to lose in heartbreakers during the playoffs—now they’re double-digit routs.
What happened here
I mean, what adjustments did Byron Scott make so that the results from the last game and this game are so drastically different?
Not a scott move,
but we didn’t bring enough Dirk in the fourth.
by rassoodocks on Apr 27, 2008 10:59 PM CDT up reply actions
It's a cliche, but they wanted it more
This Mavs team is talented but lacks heart. Sometimes, I’d rather have those previous versions which weren’t as talented but gave a damn.
Josh Howard is DONE in Dallas...
After choking off this series, and then making those dumb ass comments on the radio right before Game 3, the fan base is going to turn on him QUICK.
Is it Josh's mentality that he should be the star of a team
And not second banana? The last time he played well was when Dirk was hurt/out for those four (or is it three?) games.
He's fallen in love with his jumper...
And unfortunately, it’s just not very good…
That's a scary thought
He’s the second coming of Shawn Marion. He’d rather be the star on a bad team (Miami) then part of a group of stars, as he was in Phoenix.
Who says
we should get Nellie back? Can’t we have some fast-break time next year? I’d think Nellie would bench Howard’s ass for making dumb decisions on the break.
Okay, that won’t happen, but throwing up ideas…
It's Who he said it to that counts

JET
this has been a frustrating season as ever…. I just had a flashback to when JET came to the team…. I remember begin pissed nash was gone, being pissed that we werent developing our new young point guard… hoping we would sit this guy on the bench until the end of the season where we could trade him. I appreciate the effort and emotion JET has put in since hes been here. He’s been the spark plug and given about as much heart as we could ask in critical times. If this turns out like it is looking and this team is torn apart I really am at 180 and hope we keep in in the core.
I hate to say this
But maybe it would have been a blessing if we hadn’t made the playoffs…probably better than getting our hearts crushed like this. Unless it would have made us more pathetic.
Believe Me, Ya want to be in The Play Offs
I’m missing My Boys for weeks it seems, already.

Anyone looking forward to Game 5?
At least last year we were going home down 1-3. I can’t believe the TEAM actually regressed (Dirk was his All-Star self, though). With our sorry road record, it’s going to take a miracle – and frankly we don’t deserve it.
We traded away all of our barganing chips.
Josh’s contract has him overvalued (especially now). JET’s contract is big, too, and since he showed up when it mattered, I want to keep him.
Josh, I still think he has some value.
And Kidd’s expiring contract is certainly valuable.
www.mavsmoneyball.com
It's very valuable.
And I’m very interested in what they do with him. I really don’t want to start thinking about it now, because the hopeful fan in me knows there’s a game left, but realistically…...
Picking Kidd up was a gamble from the get-go, and the front office lost on it. It’s pretty obvious that Kidd isn’t the grizzled veteran leader they thought they were getting. Might as well try to re-tool without him.
The front office and coaching staff shouldn’t be safe from this meltdown either.

Chris Paul
I’m sorry. But, I can’t root for this guy. He’s in the Baron Davis category. He’s great. Love his skills, etc. But, he’s a pest. I’m sure I’m not appreciating the skills enough but ESPN will do it for me. He just f’n bugs me.
I liked him
Until he started doing the whole “you can’t guard me” thing and talking trash. I’ve always liked Deron Williams better, anyway.
Who are these Three Point Shooters
Ya been hiding ‘em?
"Lenny Suckerpunch Never bet on me" - Elizabeth "The Lizzard" Lowblow
So, will Kidd
get suspended? Do we care? We don’t really have a backup point guard.
At least with Devin, we could change things up
since he looked to get to the basket.
This team is just so flat.
Any offseason predictions?
There’s the obvious ones like Avery out…
What do you think player-wise? I’m not sure Kidd doesn’t want to go to a LA or one of the young up and comings to give it one more shot? I know the Mavs would love to get rid of JHo after this nonsense, but not sure we’re really ready to take peanuts for him. Our next valuable piece IMO other than Dirk is Bass. I know if you don’t offer a new contract w/ a lot more money he will take off when he gets the chance…Who do you rebuild around? Does Cuban take the status quo and try one more time before selling out? Going to be interesting. The Mavs could easily be out of the Dallas spotlight with the Cowboys gaining media and the Stars proving that they shouldn’t be forgotten.
One bright spot...
Reyshawn Terry – I’m excited about him. He and Bass were awesome in the Summer League. Bring him back from Greece.
The Mavs lost
The Mavs need to ditch Avery, even though he’s not a bad coach. He’s just a young coach, not ready to take a team to the next level. He can’t get this team to focus and play methodically.
They play so uptight and they chase the jump-shot way too much. They also need to get rid of Damp. Decent center who has his moments, but that’s not the proper criteria for a team that wants to go deep in the playoffs. The guy can’t finish at the rim to save his life. I say the Mavs get Eddy Curry and hope that a new coach can turn it around for both Curry and Josh. They are both young and talented, but lack focus. God knows we aren’t gonna get much for Josh if we trade him. I don’t think we should trade Kidd, though I’m not enamored with him.
