Phoenix game
Great game. Gotta feel good about getting 2 of last 3 against winning teams. Dallas held Phoenix to NINE points in the 4th.
Avery made a nice adjustment putting George on Stoudamire.
Still, I don't know why we played so much half court jump-shot ball this game. Where was the fast break aggressiveness that won us the GS game? Even with the 4th quarter Phoenix breakdown, it took DIrk playing the hero to pull this one out. Let's hope Dirk gets to rest a bit against the Seattle. Go Mavs!!

Great win today...
Should have won that game, failed to close it out. Double digit lead in the 4th quarter, there's absolutely no reason to lose that game...
1-1 on Road Trip
IMO, the Mavs played their two best games so far this week against the Warriors and Suns. I'd say it was a very good week overall. Yeah, the Lakers loss hurts because we had a 7 point lead going into the 4th and couldn't protect it. However, the Lakers are tough at home and we just couldn't stop Odom because Dirk was ineffective defensively.
I can't say enough good things about Dirk's play against the Suns -- he showed why he's the reigning MVP with his 12 points in the 4th. He persevered through the ankle pain, and wasn't afraid to attack the rim. Kidd was also huge -- getting timely steals and just playing tough D on Nash. Bass was the 3rd star, in NHL terms. Also, as tough as I am on Avery, the coaching staff made some brilliant adjustments in the 4th and they deserve a lot of credit.
We have a relatively easy remaining schedule with Seattle and Utah (a bad road team) at home and then road games with the Blazers and Sonics over the weekend before finishing with the Hornets, who may have locked up a seed and resting starters.
The Mavs could easily be on a 6 game winning streak heading into the playoffs, and there's no doubt the Mavs are a playoff contender.
I think they showed a lot today
BTW, Dirk is really really giving the giant German finger to critics who say he's a Euro-softie. Good for him. And this team would not be as good with Devin Harris.

We shouldn't take the Sonics lightly!
We still need to work on DEFENSE, it's been porous and inconsistent at best.
