Hornets or Spurs?
As a basketball fan, who are you "rooting" for? To me, the wound from NO is still too fresh, but how could I ever want San Antone to win? I guess because we won that magical seven game series against them once upon a time and they seem beatable. Plus, everyone has fallen in love with Chris Paul, so you kinda gotta like to see him lose and suffer after the devastation he caused to Dallas. And isn't everyone else wishing that Boston will "choke" so they can claim the title of biggest first round upset in NBA history? Just wondering how other MFFLs look at the remaining series...

There is absolutely no question
I would root for Emperor Palpatine before I would root for any team featuring Bruce Bowen.
I would actually love NO to win. They were a better team than us without question (unlike last years series which was just a matchup / coaching nightmare). If not them, I want to see Orlando make a strong push, just for Marie.

I openly root for Bruce Bowen
to die.

Me neither.
Plus, I get a little bit of comfort thinking that the way they handled the Mavs wasn’t just a fluke.

I respect the Spurs enough to "root" for them over 4 foot nine Chris Paul and the Hornets
Brandon Webb, do I need to say more?

I am going for San Antonio (and risking the wrath of everyone here) over NO
Because I have liked Tim Duncan since he was in Wake Forest (though I admit he whines too much and is about as exciting as tapioca pudding) and I have nothing against Mike Finley.
Rooting for Utah over LA because I love Deron Williams.
As for the East, anyone but the Celtics.

Oooooh
Maybe I’ll have to root for the Pistons, instead :P

Not
when it comes to the Spurs…
My wife has been talking about moving to San Antonio, and my immediate answer every time is simply “Spurs fans.” I couldn’t take it. I’d be that lawyer who decorates his office in the complete colors of the rival team. Instead of law books on my wall it’d be a Dirk fathead.
And really, I’m only about 1/4 joking. I really don’t know that I could stand living in San Antonio because of the Spurs. I’m living in DC right now, and the deadskins fans don’t bother me at all- mostly because that’s such an old and comfortable rivalry. Each side just wants a hard played, meaningful game between the two teams.
But yea. I’d like to see Bruce Bowen injure himself in some horrific way on court- rather than trying to injure everyone he plays against.

Well, I hate Bruce Bowen too
So you and I can agree there. And I don’t love the Spurs or anything, if that makes you feel better. Right now I just prefer them over New Orleans.
The Mavs are #1 with me while the Magic are a very close second.

I am so disappointed in you…
It’s one thing to respect a player or two… but you dont have to like the organization that is our number one most hated rival…
Just spend some time over at PTR and look up anything that deals with the mavs… you’ll quickly rethink your view on the Spurs.

I knew you would be :(
And I do value your opinion (and everyone else’s here), but what can I do, you know…I can’t please everybody. I don’t like going over to PTR because they’re total homers. I’m not part of any Spurs online communities. I don’t own any Spurs shirts or jerseys. I don’t read their local news. Again, I don’t love the Spurs…right now I just prefer them over New Orleans.
I’m afraid I don’t quite understand this rivalry…maybe I have to live in Texas or something, or maybe I haven’t been following the Mavericks long enough, not like some of you guys have, or it could be because I’m out here in Orlando and have lived here most of my life, and therefore am not fully embroiled in this rivalry (though that might not be a good reason…Brody’s out in DC and he hates the Spurs), but I personally do not hate them right now (it was different, of course, during the West semis a couple of years ago).
I don’t know…give me some time…just don’t consider me a traitor or anything.

yeah I understand
I guess hearing it from your cousins to your grandmother, flaunting the Spurs and Rockets year after year got a little under my skin growing up… Almost all my extended family lives in Houston or San Antonio, and my sister and I are the only ones who are the die hard Mavs fans… And with no hardware or banners in the rafters at the AAC, it gets a little tiresome defending our team.
And once you attend a Mavs-Spurs game, both in Dallas and down at the “barn” in SA (those who have been there, will understand what I mean by this), the rivalry is really intense.

Hornets
No question. The Spurs are so arrogant and flop a lot, and get rewarded for it. Even though the Hornets stomped the Mavs, Chris Paul is extremely fun to watch. 12 assists to one turnover? That’s ridiculous. I hate Parker and Ginobili so much. Ginobili flails like crazy. The only thing I have against the Hornets is that idiotic woooooo!

I peeked in
on the open game threads on the Pounding the Rock blog and at one point during game 1 they were all blaming loosing on not wearing their favorite spurs shirt and superstitious stuff like that. It was hilarious…And no, C-Money was not laughing, nor did he have anything smart to say. Watching this spurs team get dominated by NO has been therapy for me as a Mavs fan. I initially thought I would feel better if san antone won the series, but watching the spurs loose brings me joy, and nothing would make me happier than an NO sweep so they can lose in the next round.

I had this as a fan post
San Antonio Spurs: Where Cheating Happens
Now I don’t think the team as a whole cheats, but I do believe that Bowen is dirty and Duncan’s the worst whiner in the NBA. I actually like Ginobli, one of the most unique players in the NBA.
