Nearly Unbelievable Quote Of The Day
From ESPN's coverage of Mike D'Antoni's situation in Phoenix:
Sources close to the situation have maintained for days that D'Antoni does not want to continue coaching in Phoenix if he must implement the changes suggested by his bosses, which include increasing the time spent practicing defense...
Wait, did that just say what I think it said?

from what I have heard
his practice’s are a joke… Some of my friends who are sun’s fans and follow the team fairly closely say that it’s basically just pick up basketball. I think he can get away with this, bc nash just is that good at making things happen on the offensive end.
In fact, I remember reading earlier this year grant hill saying that one of the reasons he had the stamina this year as opposed to previous years was bc practice wasnt nearly as intense as it had been in Orlando and Detroit.
Man,
it sounds like something they would throw in as a punch line over at the Fanouse. Except it’s real. Wow.

I wonder why
He’s so against defense. I mean, if he doesn’t want spend time practicing it, then hand out those Better Basketball DVDs or something.
wow
I’ve heard of players making a coach look good, but this is ridiculous. People who say Nash benefited from the system are right in part, but it’s becoming blatantly obvious that the system (D’Antoni) may have benefited more from Nash.
What team with any talent would actually want this clown as their head coach?
Could you imagine
D’Antoni with the Knicks? That roster would either score 10000 points per game or completely suck … So pretty much the norm.

Haha
It seems to me that D’Antoni would probably like his teams to pass the ball around…the Knicks aren’t great with ball movement and their guards don’t have a “pass first” mentality. Not to mention that they have a certain player there who thought, at least for one possession, that he was a guard and therefore proceeded to dribble and dribble, nearly losing the ball into the backcourt, and chuck an airball three. That was probably one of the funniest and saddest things I’ve seen.
I interpret it more as
he doesn’t like management getting meddlesome with something like specifically allocating times of emphasis during practices.
Or maybe I’m just talking myself into the next Bulls coach :)

To be honest
D’Antoni with the Bulls would be fun to see. My roommate is a huge Bulls fan, and that would be far more entertaining than all the Bulls/Heat games I had to watch on national TV this year. (When will the NBA get flex scheduling after the All-Star Break?)
Will he ever win you a ring? Doubtful. But for a team that missed the playoffs the year before, the worst he can do is bring some excitement to the squad, which is something the Bulls and the fanbase could probably use after last year.

Hey, you're from BlogABull
I go over there from time to time. Sorry about your team this year…I’m still confused as to what is going on with Hinrich and why Deng and Gordon aren’t the borderline All-Stars they used to be. Good luck next season.
