Mark Cuban the Cub's Onwer

How do you guys feel about Mark Cuban looking to buy the cubs? I am a Chicagoan and Mark Cuban fan, so I would love to see him here. I recently launched a blog to support the venture and would love to get some feedback.

Do you feel Cuban has been a great addition to Dallas? Do you think the MLB can handle is antics? Do you have any reservations? Do you feel him owning the Cubs would take away from his duties in Dallas?

Cuban...

Mark is everything you want in an owner…

Sure, his antics get a little obnoxious and annoying at times, but the man is clearly willing to do whatever it takes to win, and you can tell he genuinely cares about his team and his players…

As a fan, I’d love for Cuban to be the owner of any of my favorite teams…

Being a Mavs and Cowboys fan

has really spoiled me. After hearing my friends that are from the Midwest complain about their favorite teams’ owners really makes me glad that Jerry Jones and Cuban own my two favorite teams.

I don’t know if you could ask for any more than a guy who truly wants to win. I’ll take the antics over a guy looking to turn a profit, winning be damned.

As for him owning the Cubs, I haven’t given it much thought. I kind of doubt it would detract that much from his Mavericks duties. If anything, it would make him a little less hands on and give the coaches some breathing room. Avery and Nellie’s stints here are pretty clear evidence that Cuban is ready and willing to disagree loudly with the coach, for better or for worse.

If I were you, I’d be ecstatic if Cuban bought the team.

I would be

I think Cuban is perfect for the Cubs and Chicago. Check out those links above. The are some Cubs fans that are too fond of Cuban and I think it would be great if you and a couple of other Mav fans shed some light from the inside!

If Cuban owned the Cubs,

wouldn’t that distract him from the Mavericks?

I do what I can, sometimes more, depends on the situation.

Likely

As a Mavs fan, I wouldn’t root for it as this venture would definitely divert his interests.
I don’t see it happening, though. MLB ownership has set itself solidly against guys like Cuban, people who are innovators and look to redefine things even if they work simply for the sake of continued improvement.

Why would that matter?

He’s got basketball guys are in place to make basketball decisions… Mark being a little less involved in the every day activities of the organization might be a good thing.

And, FWIW, Cuban doesn’t seem like the type guy that will allow himself to give anything less than 100% to anything he does… Him owning the Cubs doesn’t seem like something that would become a conflict of interests, or take away from the passion he’s got for his baby here in Dallas…

I’d love for Cuban to buy the Rangers. Mark Cuban in an un-capped system? Disgusting. Especially with a major cash cow like the Chicago Cubs…

He should buy the D'Backs.
