Josh is 3 outta top 10 to be traded
Hmmmm... this is intersting. Based upon what we have heard from the Mavs FO the past few months, I dont see how this is possible.
"You have to wonder if there are any other revelations that will come from Josh Howard in the wake of his mystifying confessions about smoking marijuana last year during the playoffs. If he's got a problem with it, then odds are he'd already have been suspended by the NBA. Instead, he created his own nightmare filled with team, fan and media backlash, with a terrible playoff performance to boot. Nonetheless, he is a very talented All-Star swingman. The Mavs won't get value in return, so maybe Rick Carlisle can help."

He's basically on there by default...
No biggie, though… If you’re Cuban or Donnie (whichever makes the calls on personnel moves), do you offer up Josh Howard for Artest and some filler? If he becomes an issue for Sacramento, it could be the best opportunity Dallas gets to get some real value for a guy whose said to be at a low, and shake up the core of the roster without losing out on the talent end of the deal…
Say something like Artest and Sheldan Williams for Howard?
But, that assumes they wouldn’t want to trade with the Lakers… There’s always the possibility they’d rather take back Lamar Odom if the Lakers were willing to eat Kenny Thomas’ contract…

Or...
Just for discussion’s sake, maybe they take back Jerry Stackhouse and his essentially expiring contract? (Isn’t next season only partially guaranteed?) Maybe Dallas sends Stackhouse and cash to cover they buyout?

I would prefer this
but I would imagine that if they could get odem in return, or someone else worth while even, I think they would rather go that route. I dont think they are just looking to dump salary, but who knows.

I think
that Sacto is definitely trying to dump salary. They want Artest out, but they don’t NEED him out, I think. His salary isn’t too much and it comes off the books in a couple years. I think Sacto’s feeling is that he’s got issues, but remains their most valuable commodity in a trade, so they are tempted to unload a player like Rahim if the right partner comes along.
