AK-47?
Aaronp brought this up the other day, and I thought I would put it in a fanpost to get everyone else's opinion and thoughts about it.
Based on this article here, looks like AK could be on the trading block, but that he might not be moved til next summer.
My take on it is that at 17 million a year, it would take too much to get too little. The Jazz are looking for cap space, so they would want expiring contracts and picks most likely, something that Mavs dont really have to equal that 17 mil per year. Unless we sign and traded George for about 6 million, which I cant really see happening.
Sending them George, Jones, and Stack (and possibly bass even just to get Utah to do this deal) to a team that's already log jammed with Miles, Brewer, and Krover does not really help them short term either. (even though Jones and maybe stack would most likely get bought out.)
What about trading Howard? Well I guess we could, but that doesnt really help them figure out their cap space for this next summer to resign Boozer, cuz he will have another year left. But it would relieve them of an extra 7 million that would other wise be going to AK.
His contract is similar to that of Marion's, so then you also have to ask yourself if you would rather try to swing a deal for him then over AK.

Howard + expirings
is probably the most enticing offer Dallas can make. Howard isn’t much of a downgrade, fits better as a small-forward, and the Jazz can use that 8 mil a year difference to extend Boozer and Okur (pay Boozer 16 mill rather than 11, Okur 12 rather than 9… which should keep them happy). That works real well for Utah, as they’ll get one sick freaking lineup with D-Will, Howard, Boozer and Okur… matching them even more interestingly with the Hornets.
Now, one would argue that the trade leaves Dallas struggling a little bit, and I sort of agree. Dirk is no longer the perimeter hog he once was, and now bangs down low alot. However, if the comfort of having AK in the wings to weak-side block the shit out of everything makes Dirk more willing to hang on the perimeter and drop bombs (therefore fueling Dirks return to his most ridiculousness), it could be a worthwhile trade for Dallas, provided they don’t lose both Stack and Bass.
If Dallas does this trade, it has to acquire Mike Miller. Has to.
AK is more reachable than Marion, because with AK you don’t have to sacrifice as much talent. If your trading Josh, the expirings can be garbage players (what the hell, pay George the 6 million, just piss on the check before you hand it to him and boot him out the door). Pat Riley will wring Mark Cubans hands tighter than Jersey to give up Marion. That old dude just does not give a fk.
I’m not sure how well a pro-Weed player will fly in SLC, though.
I think this trade deserves some more thought. I recommend posting on SLCDunk and seeing their ideas. If you do, please update with a link to it. I didn’t think much of it the first time Aaronp posted it, but thinking about it more, maybe. Just maybe.

Chemistry
Might seem overated at times but in this case…I think its key I think AK would be a nice fit…as for Mike Miller I think we should try for him any way I mean really.. Mavs could swing some kind of deal to get him.

Bleh
on Mike Miller
It doesn't matter if you win or lose, as long as you come in first.

When I say
some kind of deal I mean excluding Dirk, Kidd, Howard, Diop and Bass.

Jazz fans
dont seem to be too interested in anything Dallas has, nor do they seem to think that AK is on the trading block right now.

Yeah, not sure really
That’s also the first time I’ve heard of AK the insurance policy, but I’m not Mormon so who knows :-)
I was rather surprised at the lack of interest, to tell you the truth, as I really liked that trade for Utah. But you know, fans always unfairly overvalue their own players. Hell, I think Kevin Martin’s one of the the top five SGs in the L.
