Bob Ortegel, the colorful, opinionated and sometimes polarizing analyst on Dallas Mavericks broadcasts, will enter his 21st season with the team back in his more familiar seat next to play-by-play man Mark Followill on the television broadcast, multiple sources confirmed Thursday.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban switched the broadcast teams before last season by swapping the club’s two longstanding color commentators. Ortegel, a stalwart on the TV broadcast, moved to radio while Brad Davis took his straightforward approach to television.

THANK GOD

I’m estatic about this. The best move Mavs made so far this offseason. I missed Ortegel last season. I didn’t watch many games last season and a part of it was because of the Mavs got rid of Ortegel.

yeah

I grew up watching him all through out the 90s, and while I like Davis and all, he was just flat out no good last year. He was pretty dry at times, like he was nervous on TV or something. I thought though he was pretty good on the radio at least.

Agreed

It’s sad that the best move the Mavs made in the offseason was the TV broadcaster. I don’t even know why Cuban removed Ortegel. It was a dumb move to begin with. It’s like watching Tom Grieve with the Rangers it’s not the same without him. I’m starting to can’t stand Cuban, I liked him in the beggining but now he doesn’t even seem like the same owner that we had a few years ago. I think he lost a lot of his passion with the Mavs. To cheap to move in the first round of the draft. I remember the first year he bought a pick in the lottery. I bet if he buys the Cubs he will sell the Mavs. The Mavs need to rebuild but we can’t because of the recent transactions we made (Jason Kidd trade).

Cuban

I cant put this all on Cuban, yet anyway. I think its easy for us to demand that he do something, just because he has in times past or he can. If Cuban decides to roll the dice on this roster this year (which mind you, there is a LOT of time between the start of the season and now), and we fail, he will be the idiot owner. Especially if Harris estabilishes himself to become at least an All-Star in the league, which is very probably out east. But if he somehow succeeds or even comes close to winning it all again somehow, by everything coming together like the Mavs FO has been feeding us all summer, then he will reestablish himself with his doubters. (though I dont think he really even cares)
