Pick-up basketball
I know this seems kind of random, but please just humor me. I live in Collin County and it the only good games I can find are at places like LA fitness or Lifetime fitness. Occasionally there is some good competition at random recreation centers but nothing reliable, especially on weekends. I don't know if this is because I am a loser or just because pick-up ball seems to be dying. Anyways, if anyone knows of some great games around here, feel free to post them in the comments.

North dallas club
I am not in dallas right now, but I might be able to point you in the right direction with some places, just email me. I know the north dallas club (? I think thats what its called, its right off the north tollway and 635 on the northwest side) has REALLY good pick up games that I used to play at all the time. I know you have to be a member there (my father was when I went there in the 90s), but Kurt Thomas used to play there, Leon Lett (when he was suspended) Kid Kratic (sp?) etc. Those guys gave me the best run for my money… by far the best pickup ball I have personally played indoors, in the DFW area. I am sure there are others, but thats where I always went.
Also depends on the time of day. Most guys will either play REALLY early in the morning (early bird-gladiators mostly), like at 5, or on their lunch breaks (which are usually 2 hrs long, and are much more competitive). Its hard to find competitive ball though later in the evening I’ve found, but Im sure there are places.

Nothing quite like church ball, haha...
It doesn't matter if you win or lose, as long as you come in first.

Lifetime on Preston and Legacy
is where I find all my games, but I’ve been out most of it the past year due to plantar fascitis and two bulging discs in my back.
I hear at like 8 am on Saturday morning is the best time to go, but I won’t get up that early. Also, lunch time during the week…I’d get up there around 11:00 if you can. Evenings on Mondays used to be really good, although during the summer there were far too many kids there.
You always have your Michael Irvin sightings, at either that one or the Trinity Mills location, and I’ve played with Marion Barber, Tony Romo, Deion Sanders and a few former NBA guys and plenty of former/current European players over there. Lots of young high schoolers play up there that end up playing college ball, too…so the kids aren’t always a bad thing
