Marbury to the Mavs?

Um... hell no.

New York Daily seems to think differnt though...

The Heat seems to have the most interest, although Dwyane Wade needs to dominate the ball as much as Marbury does. The Spurs might not see Manu Ginobili until late December as he recovers from foot surgery, so if Tim Duncan and Gregg Popovich think they can get Marbury to buy into their system, San Antonio is a possible destination.

Then there's Dallas, which is already worried about when Jason Kidd is going to wear down.

The Warriors might be another fit since Monta Ellis was stupid enough to ride and crash his moped, meaning the team is stuck with Nets reject Marcus Williams as a starter.

I'm not even gonna say anything, but just the thought of this has made me upset.

Talent yes..

everything else no. His attitude is horrible and he’s never been in a winning environment so he’s all about himself. I want no part of him.

I am sure...

the media would have a field day if Marbury came to the Mavs…especially with all the Josh Howard stuff going on…that would be the worst idea in the world.

I voted no...

but immediately regretted it. I’d take him on as an experiment for sure…

Experiment?

This team isn’t that good, where you can experiment with a big name player. This isn’t Green, this is Marbury or Starbury as he likes to call himself sometimes.

well on second thought

I’m thinking as more of a future PG once Kidd leaves IF this is his final year with us. and thinking more and more about it, you’re right…because Marbury is on the wrong side of his career, sloping downwards in terms of age and possible production. I think he could buy us 2 more years after this year, but I’d rather look elsewhere and save the potential heartache from trying this out

how about

stop sucking at all aspects of life, that’s what he has to do.

If mark thought he got bad emails about josh’s youtube thing, I can only imagine the emails he would get for picking up marbury.

I voted yes

just to be different.

Maybe this will be the MBT’s big splash to appease the fans that they made a move to “shake things up!” Mark Cuban did say that he admired Star-bury’s cheap sneaker marketing.

Worst Move Ever

Marbury is an absolute lunatic. I’m a long time Knicks fan and have followed Marbury’s antics up in NYC. There’s a reason he hasn’t been traded yet and it’s because there isn’t a team out there who is stupid enough to bring him and his horrible contract (close to $22 mil) in. Plus he has his Starbury logo tatooed to side of his head…horrible.

I wouldn't put them in the same category..

Iverson is a top steals guy and we know what he can do on the offensive end. He would just have to match up with these point guards and have JKidd slide down and guard the 2 guard. Not like this is going to happen but Marybury and Iverson are 2 completely different people.

I normally wouldn't argue about something like this...

but I am gonna have to respectfully disagree with you on that one. Are they “2 completely different people”? Not really. Both are selfish players that put themselves before the team. I wouldn’t necessarily want either one in my locker room. Sure, either of them can put up 20 points on any given night, but at what costs?

You're serious?

Besides the whole practice incident he has never put himself before the team. To put these two guys in the same sentence is just crazy in my opinion. Marbury has never been out of the 1st round of the playoffs and every team he’s been on has wanted to get rid of him. On the other hand Iverson is a former MVP and has been to the NBA finals. Sure Iverson has put up a lot of shots but who exactly has he had on his team? The guy is averaging about 6 to 7 assists on top of that and usually leads the league in steals. I could go on and on with this..

That practice thing was really more about him and Larry Brown having issues.

Not his teammates not being good players.

the maverick way

everytime i hear a proposed “shake up move” i roll my eyes. If everyone recalls all of our succcess in this era of maverick basketball has just been a rock solid team concept led by Dirk. Now im not saying we didnt have great players all the way from beating Utah all those years ago, 60 win seasons, The Finals appearance. All have never been a result of some lame trade for a “bigger name” acquisition. This year i’ve actually been very excited, i think were being overlooked and being underrated. This team with the enthusiasm that the players have with Carlisle, on top of just all around more youthful and better personel has me thinking a serious title run is very possible, all the while NOT having a loser like Marbury or some stupid attempt at other bigger name guys.

You can't blame the NYC press for positively visualizing Life After Isaiah...

…………………………. I mean, Cuban grossly overpaid for a washed-up Kidd, it’s not beyond the pale that he’d pull the trigger for the cancerous Starbury…

im on board with bringing Iverson here...

and considering we’d have to give up Stack in the trade, sign Bonzi if he’ll sign for the vet min. so we can have a vet on the bench who can score…

but I’d trade Terry/Stack for Iverson….I like Terry but AI is the same 2 guard type and JET has a bad contract and we can sign Wells to replace Stack… plus if it fails you get about 45 million coming off the books this year and you still have the 3-4-5 positions locked up….and if you’d still want Kidd and AI you could resign them for less than 20 mil a year and still get money off the books…..but Kidd, AI, Howard, Dirk, Damp/Diop… with a very solid bench, that team (w/chemistry) could go far with a good coach like Carlisle… I’d definatly do it, I think we have to make a move like that if we want to contend… I actually think it’s the perfect move bc if it fails 45 mil comes off the book and we can start over with a good nucleus and potential(bass, green, wright, barea)
