Break up the Mavs
It is time in my opinion to break up the Mavs!
1st Tier Players (Nowitzki)
Dirk is the only player who could demand a young up and coming starter and 2 first rounders.
2nd Tier Players (Howard, Terry and Kidd)
Howard is damaged goods (we would be lucky to get a 1st round pick for him) Terry stock is at a high we should dump him now. Kidd is hard to trade because of his pay scale (are you going to trade him for Marbury)?
3rd Tier Players (Bass, Carroll, Barea, George, Dampier, Green, Hollins, Singleton, Stackhouse, Williams and Wright)
We have to many players in the 3rd tier. My opinion is that teams would'nt be very interested in this tier of players.
We will be lucky to make the playoffs this year, and if so will be bounced out in the first round. We have no picks in this or next years draft. So why wait for the inevitable?

dude, SERIOUSLY?
COME ON!

seriously (yes)
There you go… trade away Terry is the first step. This team is just hanging on until. I say let’s trade at the deadline for some picks and open up in free agency 2010… We might even be able to keep Dirk…

The last time this team tried to rebuild
we fucked it up multiple times and it took about ten years.
The rebuild has already started.
The Jason Kidd trade was the first step.

Wouldn't keeping Devin Harris have been the first step in rebuilding?
I have witnessed time and time again.
No
Kidd gives us complete flexibility. Only Carroll and Terry are guaranteed to be here past 2010, and Terry may be traded very soon. The Diop trade saved us roughly 2 million a year going forward. Flexibility is the key.

trade for Marbury?
That was not suggested. I dont think you can honestly trade Kidd unless you get a expiring contract and a first rounder (which would end up being at the end of the 1st) because the only teams that would trade for Kidd is a team that thinks it can win a Championship!

I wouldn't mind a late first rounder
This may be a pretty deep draft. It’s can asset. We could use it to move further up in the draft, if need be.

21 million
You have to find about 21 million bucks worth of contracts that you would like to take back.

pointless
to bring back that type of money unless it is attached to a player like Kobe or Lebron and we know that is not happening.

Cleveland is about the only team that could do it
They have Snow and Wally that equal out to roughly 20 million expiring, then they could give us Daniel Gibson, JJ Hickson, or a 1st round pick, maybe even 2 of the 3.

Wes,
Could we please request a ban for this guy? Nothing but negativity coming from him.. look at his last 2 fanposts for instance..
Ban me?
because I have a different opinion than you, how absurd!

Rebuild.
This team is not going anywhere. For whatever reason, this team cannot seam to get it done in the playoffs. All the talent in the world, and 4 straight losses in the finals, followed by two first round exits. I love Jason Kidd, I really do (Hall of Famer, no question), but the man is past his prime. Dirk, instant offense, when necessary, but lacks toughness and killer instinct. Josh Howard? Trade this cancer. I want to see the Mavs do well. Marbury is not the answer. Start with Barea.

Quick fact check: The Mavs have a pick in 2009, and they can't trade it away again due to the 2008 and 2010 picks living in NJ after the Kidd trade
Ted Stepien rule. Won’t be a great pick if the team finishes e.g. from 9 to 7 in the West, but still a pick at least in the low 20s up to potentially anywhere in the lottery if the playoffs are missed. I don’t think this will happen, and one more deal with a larger impact than the Diop trade (and that was a step in the right direction both in terms of finances and talent) will likely come before the deadline. Yet not a deal to break up the team completely, but to close an area of weakness and build around who is there. Will that be enough to win it all? Probably not in a loaded West, but the safest way to not succeed is not to try at all.
Cuban has stated that he hates a team to finish in the 40s in no mans land. If that happens, he will decide on harder changes. Also this time, he could buy a (low) first round pick this year for cash like a lot of teams have done in recent years. Should be easier in 2009 and 2010 with a lot of teams looking for cash to keep things profitable. Then they will take a hard look at Kidd and decide if they want to offer him a new contract (for far less money). Then everything else follows.
OK Dude
you’re in serious troll territory. Try to contribute something besides MAVERICKS SUCK
www.mavsmoneyball.com
Whatever...
I guess you think this team has a legit shot at a Championship! Speaking of Troll. My Mavericks (who at times this year) have indeed sucked! Have lost to the following teams; LA Clippers, Chicago, New Jersey (24 points), Memphis (by 20 points) and Sacramento. All of those teams in my opinion are not playoff caliber teams.
Sorry if I offended you. I am just a little bummed by watching the Mavs lose.

they also beat
utah, phoenix, san antonio, houston, portland, and such. face it: every team is going to go through tough stretches. w ehad ours at the beginning and now we had a little skid. better to have it earlier than later. also, the loss aginst the clips and bulls came in tht horrible 2-7 start.ever team is gonna lose to these kind of teams sumtimes. I mean just recently, philly blew aout the spurs, OKC stopmed the jazz and OKC beat detroit by i think 11 points. Boston lost to the bobcats. Laekrs and celtics lost to the pacers. so how bout this? mavs beat philly,OKC,charlotteand pacers, all of the teams tht beat the good teams. does tht make the mavs better than all of the good teams? we lost to chicago and chicago just b eat cleveland. it doesent matter. plus, right now we have a better record than we did last year at this time.
Didn't Boston start out 27-2 and lose a bunch of games?
All teams go through little slides.
I have witnessed time and time again.
fair enough
In all fairness to this years squad, I actually see progess.
Last years team was painful to watch!
I like the optimism. I also think that it is possible after thought that we are actually already in re-building mode.

ok..
so your point is? That I am not a fan of the Mavericks and I like to go to other teams fansights and make Mavericks SUCK! Celtics SUCK! Lakers SUCK! posts?
I dont think I am full of shit. I do in deed think that this and last years teams suck in comparsion to the previous 6 or 7 years.
I stated that I felt this years team is playing better then last years. Which is my opinion and obviously not yours. As far as telling me I am full of shit, you wouldnt say that to my face. I can promise you that!

if you were a true Mavericks fan
you don’t go and spout rows of just “MAVERICKS SUCK” as the make-up of an entire fanpost. It’s perfectly fine (in my personally retarded opinion) to vent your anger once in a while by saying something like “I wish this team would stop sucking”. Y’know, once a game, once a quarter, once every minute or whenever Josh takes a jumpshot.
Anyway, there’s no way you can really say the Mavs suck. Yeah sure, they might be underachieving but they still won 50 games last season and with some luck they’ll win 50 games again. That isn’t a team that sucks. Then you go and say “This team is playing better”, yet are you still implying that this team sucks at the same time?
Stick to one opinion please. It can either be “this team is mediocre and not going anywhere” or “this team has underachieved but I’m optimistic because they’ve been playing better”. I won’t argue your opinion about how this team is better than last season’s team because as you said, it’s your opinion and I won’t change it.
i am allowed to have whatever opinion I want
that is what is great about this Nation. I am also allowed to change my mind in the middle of a thought. I appreciate your break down of the Mavericks mediocrity, and if you take into consideration the teams of the 90’s yes you are correct that we dont suck! I however feel this team is a long way away from competing for a Championship! I will probably change my mind tomorrow and say that we have a shot, and you will post that I am full of shit! I will mention that I have followed the Mavericks since there inception in the league and I am without a doubt a huge fan. Your taking my post way to personal.
I never said “Jonthefon” sucks! Think about that.
You however didnt mention my comment about calling someone full of shit on the internet, I bet you wouldnt say that to me in person! GUARANTEED!
Look, I'm sorry about that
but I was extremely riled about the fanpost you made. It was terrible.
And probably make one opinion per post. It looks contradictory if you change ideas up midway through.
no problem
i apologize for the post too..i never intended to offend anyone.
