Some reading for today
The Mave are letting the league know about the no-calls. Unfortunately, I do not know if this will even make a difference or if it will change the way calls are made on certain players (Dirk and Josh are noted in the article) in future games.
The team needs to find their focus. Thanks, Captain Obvious. What's really important is why they lose it to begin with, or why it's not there at all. We cannot afford to coast.
Other stuff:
The latest All-Star returns - Dirk doesn't really care if he makes it or not, but for the other Mavs on the ballot, maybe they should start voting for themselves, like Pau Gasol.
Cuban's view on why professional sports need newspapers.
Do foreign players peak more slowly?
Dennis Rodman will be on Celebrity Apprentice.
Just a reminder to non-local fans, even though it's Thursday, the game won't be on TNT (they are not covering any games today).

Wes?
I am really convinced now that you are ducking me on purpose. I refuse to believe you have an actual life that keeps you busy. That can’t be possible. Right?
Anyway – I would LOVE to get someone (anyone!) to chat with me today for about 30 minutes for a pre-game podcast.
Please please please send me someone that can be all mavericky on the phone later today or this evening. I will take care of all the details.
Thanks!

I dropped by there last night
After Indiana burned them on a 3 from Granger with less than a second left. I liked the post about Amare (I refuse to use the apostrophe) and his shoes.

Damn it
I keep waking up in fear of seeing “Toronto acquire Mavs’ All-Star F Howard” on ESPN
by jonthefon on Jan 8, 2009 3:45 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
I read somewhere that Toronto won't trade Bargs
The source is Hoopsworld, though…people seem to be wary of that source. Ingram seems pretty adamant that the Mavs are shopping Josh, saying that “they are more than eager” to move him and “they’ve even gone so far, of late, as to call one team saying they have a deal with another.”

Non-Bargs trade
I posted this in the other thread but how about this trade?
Toronto gets Shawne Williams, Howard, Stack, Diop, Wright
Dallas get Kapono, Parker, and O’Neal.
Dallas will have a ton of cap space after this season when Kidd, Parker and O’Neal come off the books.
Signature! I don't need no stinking signature!!

Probably shouldn't suggest trades between my teams, but would you consider something like this
Josh for Travis, Channing and Sergio. Would give the Blazers the starting SF and perimeter defender they need, and the Mavs a younger replacement on the position, a shooting PF/C backup and a pass-first point guard backup who is a bit bigger than Barea for later. Also not a big financial burden if they wanted the money instead, Travis is unguaranteed, Channing is a RFA, and Sergio has until 2010 left. It would help for the future, though I doubt it would help to contend in the playoffs.
