Around SBN: Todd Haley Is The Steelers Next Offensive Coordinator

They have us taking "The next Dirk." I have seen too many people called the next Dirk, to even think that this guy will be as good. I will have to see it before I say "Hey this guys as good as Dirk."

I wonder how they came

to the idea to call him “the Next Dirk”? You do not think 6-11 Power forward from Germany had anything to do with it do?

the question is which one?

Ohlbrecht is a completely different player than Dirk, I have watched him in the Olympics and the last EuroBasket

Much less of an outside shooter, but more athletic e.g. as a shot blocker and dunker. Case in point: He takes and makes next to no threes, even from the shorter three point distance.

"The Next Dirk"

That’s not really accurate….

The next big prospect out of Germany after Dirk Nowitzki

That’s the actual quote. They’re not comparing the two at all beyond the fact that they are both from Germany.

comparing the two

and saying he’s the “next” Dirk are two different things IMO.

IMO I don't see the difference.

Donatas Montiejunas

Why am I excessively iffy about European bigs going so early?

Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.

A lot of them don't turn out well.

I just thought this was an interesting tidbit, since our star is Dirk and the player they are comparing him to is projected to be drafted by us.
