Seriously, It's Time for JJ Berea to Go
He's just an embarrassment. He's personally contributed all he can to two losses this season, and he did everything in his stumpy-armed power to lose for us against Milwaukee tonight. The only thing Beaubois has proven is the he a) isn't afraid or intimidated by the NBA game, b) has a pretty sweet little jumper, c) is a pretty good defender who's not afraid to hustle, & d) he's not only incredibly quick, but very athletic as well.
I'd rather the first half of the season be spent getting Beaubois some REAL playing time when it counts in games. I understand not trusting a 21 year old kid who played in the JV's of France last year, but he's ready.

Said it in another thread...
Roddy gives us everything we get from Barea plus better defensive ability and more upside…

And he looks very calm out there.
A bit Terminator-ish.

Roddy B. should be playing ahead of Barea,
But what exactly can we get for Barea? Not much so might as well keep him and just not play him that much.
S-St. Louis, R-Rams, D-Dallas, M-Mavericks, A-Arizona, D-Diamondbacks.

If we could get Roy Hibbert
I would say let’s do it. Salaries match perfectly, but it seems pretty close to impossible, given the fact that the guy is the Pacers’ starting center and is putting up some pretty good numbers. So I think there’s no way that’s happening.
I like JJ, though, it’s just he is not playing well right now, and Beaubois is looking great. So trading Barea could add a more needed piece to the rotation (basically a center). I won’t be mad if we don’t trade him, but it will be better for everyone if he plays less crunch time, because he’s not handling the ball the way we need him to when he’s out there, and is not making smart decisions. Maybe he should have the opportunity to turn things around, but if we can get something valuable in return for him, i’d take it.

If we could get a 5 for a Berea
Go for it. a backup center for a 3rd string point guard is something I’d take all day.
He has his ups and downs, and he’s definitely in a down spell right now, but Berea only flourishes when the other team isn’t taking him seriously. When he’s guarded tightly, he gets shut down and turns the ball over.

haha. i like the way you threw something out there, then realized mid thought that it wasn't possible. but yeah, you're right. no way we could get hibbert.

so did Barea turn the corner last night?
he was a pretty big reason we won…even though Dirk was THE biggest reason

You don't turn the corner with one game

well people were citing 2 games where he apparently needed to go
I’m just saying, he may not be a starting guard in this league, but he’s pretty damn nice to have off the bench…

Thanks from the peanut gallery
Good to see one Berea fan. I hope you enjoy seeing him play in Shanghai in 2 years.
Would you, pray tell, care to enlighten me with something more intelligent?

your analysis in isn't exactly compelling
don’t get me wrong, i agree on Roddy B, but I’m not gonna disregard JJ just because you don’t like his arms

I agree with njd
Barea is valuable fire off the bench. How can you betray so quickly a player who helped us through so many lulls and (seriously) won us probably 4 games last season (including a game winning shot).
His game may have issues (confidence), and maybe he isnt as good as robo, but he’s still a valuable hard-working part of the team.

actually, 2.2 games
don’t worry, carlisle likes him, he’ll stay in the rotation.
But he needs to draw charges or the defense suffers too much to overcome with him in. (espec. when he struggles offensively like in some games)

Pretty harsh assessment...
Barea takes care of the ball and competes as hard as anyone on the team. I’d like to keep him around, thanks.

Yeah Berea is awful...
12pts/10asts/4rebs/2stls……why dont we just cut him?
Seriously, he can play basketball. He is a player-not a future all-star, but a solid NBA player who can help the team win. Damp and Berea were the keys last night

No he wasn’t. He makes poor decisions a lot of the time, Rodrigue would be so much more of an offensive threat, and a much better defender. He’s a liability.

berea is terrible with 23 points........cut him now
ofcourse sarcastically speaking here……..I would not cut someone with his heart and talent. Hes a good compliment to this team and a fan favorite.
"When people talk about Super Bowl dynasties they mention the 1970's Steelers, 1980's 49ers, 1990's Cowboys and the current New England Patriots, but nobody has dominated the Super Bowl like Anheuser-Busch. In recent years, Budweiser has been the MVP of Super Bowl advertising -- making another company the favorite to win the Ad Meter poll was never an option."

Barea is a great player to have coming off the bench.
Many Mavericks fans don’t realize how important he is to this team. To have a role player coming off the bench that can shoot, drive and make a plays within the offense is always a huge plus. And he helps Kidd so he can rest for long periods of time and stay fresh when games are on the line. He always plays hard, this guy has shown nothing but heart and passion for this game and i’m sure Carlisle and Cuban have noticed this. I’m pretty sure the Mavs are going to re-sign him. Stop hating and let the kid do his job.
