Mavs should go for Okafor

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/rumors/post/New-Orleans-Hornets-dealing-Okafor-others-;_ylt=AnJKU1XFwQ0lDj6CtizlGHG8vLYF?urn=nba,204253

I know its just a rumor, but Okafor would fit well with the Mavs. Not sure who we could offer, but maybe Howard and Gooden (if Howard can ever get healthy). I'd say keep Damp's contract for something better though. I'm still holding out for Joe Johnson with that contract. Getting him would def make Howard expendable.

Why would the Hawks trade Johnson?

They’re sitting atop the Eastern Conference and they’re not going anywhere…

Given what we’ve gotten from the Gooden/Dampier combination so far, I’m not parting with Howard to get Okafor… It’s not that much an upgrade and it’s only a matter of time before he’s hurt anyways…

Johnson

has said he wants to test the free agent waters this summer. If he decides he is going to leave anyway, we can work out a s&t with the DUST chip

Okafor isn't worth Gooden/Howard

he’s a nice player, but he’s not a dominant post – and Gooden’s essentially giving us “Okafor best-case scenario” numbers right now anyways. I hate any trade that gives up on Howard, though…so I’m biased.

Thank god someone around here is sane

Drew Gooden is 28 to Okafor’s 27, they provide (or are at the moment) providing similar production, and Okafor is highly overpaid.

This won’t happen.

On the same page here

with Howard. Any and all trade scenarios go out the window for me when his name is mentioned.

I love the guy

even messed up and got a J-Ho official jersey instead of a Dirk one cause I liked him so much…that’s gonna hurt for years.

But I’d let him go for the right price. Problem is, with the injuries and his mental messup a few years ago, nobody will EVER offer the right price I don’t think…

Agreed.

We may overvalue him slightly, but he’ll probably ever get the return trade-wise he should.

You want us to offer Josh Howard and Drew Gooden for let me emphasize this, OKAFOR?

Are you joking? Both of those players are both better than Okafor…
