Kerr "determined" to move Amare before deadline.

Per Yahoo.

If Kerr and assistant GM David Griffin do trade Stoudemire, a four-time All-Star, they want a combination of expiring contracts, a talented young player – preferably a forward – and draft picks.

Obviously the article goes on to say they'd prefer to deal him to the Eastern conferance. I don't think the Mavs can get him without trading Dirk, but it's fun to think about.

Howard/Bass/Green/Stack for Amare.

Now only if Cuban could get Kerr high.....

Oklahoma City is a REAL intriguing possibility...

They’ve got the expiring contracts to work with in Desmond Mason and Chris Wilcox… Young, talented forward in Jeff Green… And they’ve accumulated loads of picks over the next couple of years…

Durant, Amare, and Westbrook, plus somebody like Blake Griffin, Greg Monroe, Jordan Hill, or Hasheem Thabeet in the draft this season?… Nasty…

by N41D on Feb 5, 2009 8:53 PM CST up reply actions

Same with Memphis

If I were the Suns, I’m calling Memphis and asking for this deal, and swap 1st round picks this year.

Then I'd turn around and offer Nash to New York for David Lee, Gallinari, and Eddy Curry

Conley, JRich, Gay, Lee, and Shaq.

Shaq could be the best thing to ever happen to Curry.

Let's get Amar'e

give Phoenix some draft picks, wait hold on, we don’t have any. Great move Front Office.

We wouldn't have the pieces for Amare anyways...

Regardless of whether we had the picks or not…

by N41D on Feb 6, 2009 12:48 PM CST up reply actions

Picks that aren't in the top 10

Aren’t really all that valuable as commodities.

Sure, you collect them if you can, but I don’t think the one thing blocking a Dallas deal with Phoenix is a ~20 draft pick.

by brettgardner on Feb 6, 2009 12:59 PM CST up reply actions

Amare

We have no shot at him (we don’t have the pieces) . This team can not win with this current roster. I don’t like to rehash old stuff but the Kidd trade damaged this franchise for the next decade.

by Monkey Brain on Feb 6, 2009 12:59 PM CST reply actions

I'm not

Giving up a young All-Star and 2 first round picks for an old J-Kidd. If we kept those 2 picks we could of start the rebuilding process earlier.

by Monkey Brain on Feb 6, 2009 1:12 PM CST up reply actions

OK...

So we’d have two more Mo Agers?

Yeah, without that we’d really be set back a decade.

by brettgardner on Feb 6, 2009 1:56 PM CST up reply actions

No

If we kept our picks we could of traded Dirk this year and get younger faster. Without Dirk we would be at the top of the lottery for next years draft. Imagine a core of Harris-Aldrige(for Dirk)- a top lottery pick and a top 2010 free agent. The Kidd trade set us back for a decade.

by Monkey Brain on Feb 6, 2009 2:05 PM CST up reply actions

Right...

I love having fantasies too, but mine usually involve hotter chicks than Dirk.

by brettgardner on Feb 6, 2009 2:06 PM CST up reply actions

You're right

It’s not a fantasy. It’s dumb. Trading Dirk for Aldridge is the move that would set us back a decade.

But what’s more, you just can’t make a series of snowballing moves and expect to be taken seriously. Draft picks and free agency are largely gambles.

When you have something good, you should hold on to it, and if you’re not going to, only part with it if you’re getting something tangible.

by brettgardner on Feb 6, 2009 2:12 PM CST up reply actions

It will be more than just Aldridge

If you rather have a package centered around Greg Oden than Aldridge I bet the Blazers would have done that also. Dirk is going to turn 31 this June he’s not a pup no more and we should get value while we can. We are not a championship caliber team with this current roster. If you don’t take risks you will never succeed.

by Monkey Brain on Feb 6, 2009 2:22 PM CST up reply actions

Well

2 plus a player option.

It’s a good move for a franchise that has started off with some of the worst moves imaginable.

They really just need to cut the fat around there core, which basically consists of Augustin and Okafor. Felton, May, Wallace (when healthy), Nazr, etc. need to be shipped off, preferably for one or two gigantic expiring deals.

by brettgardner on Feb 7, 2009 6:10 PM CST up reply actions

I think they've done a really good job so far season this season shaping the roster

Shipping one injury prone, overpaid player for 2 solid players, sending 2 useless players for 1 useful player, and again sending 2 useless players for 1 useful player. I’m not sure exactly how it works, but can’t they keep Felton and sign him to a 1 year tender or something.. like Gordon and Iguodala did? Seems like it would be in the best interest of both parties to do that.

Pavlovic is out for a month

The release of those rankings, 10 days before the deadline, showing how valuable Kidd still is. The Cavs have to do everything/anything possible to improve, they have no choice, they will lose Lebron if they don’t. The Cavs are the contender that make the most sense. They were starting Mo and Delonte, right? Kidd and Mo is better. If were not gonna resign him, we have to try and get something back.

Well, I got another trade.

Howard, Stackhouse, and George or Howard, Stackhouse, Singleton, and Green for Caron Butler, Etan Thomas, and Mike James.

The trade makes us better, because in both cases we are really only traded one player that plays an important role on our team for a player that is a hell of a lot better.

Washington makes this trade, because they would have Howard’s salary and Stackhouse’s 2 million on their payroll next year instead of Butler, Thomas, and James. I’m assuming James with take that 6.4 million player option, since he isn’t worth that much.

I have witnessed time and time again.

rotoworld.com per yahoo sports.

The Heat, Grizzlies and Suns are reportedly discussing a three-team trade that would send Amare Stoudemire to Miami, Michael Beasley to Memphis and both Rudy Gay and Shawn Marion to Phoenix.
Other players would likely be involved to satisfy salary-cap rules. It’s far from certain that such a deal would go through but it has definite potential. The Blazers and Bulls are also actively involved in the Stoudemire sweepstakes, though it sounds like Phoenix favors this new proposal. Stay tuned. Feb. 13 – 10:35 am et
