Mavs team Role Importance Break-Down! Agree or Disagree? Comment!

Sensational!  We've Won 7 of our last 9. (should be 8-9...dang OKC game) in a pinical playoff push time.

Our Poise, experience, and the Vets leadership is really starting to bloom. I understand this team isn't like the last several years that we have been so spoiled with.  Greatness everytime we turn the TV on. We've made a few bad business decisions here and there. But there was a specific reason why we made the trades we did. Because we needed some Veteranism. And we have it! (sometimes i think a little too much...haha).. BUT, its there, and now is the time of season where we are going to start seeing it pay off.

I love how the team goes out and fights together, always has eachothers back. Always looking at ways to improve. I wanted to write this out and see what everybody thinks out there about our team. 2nd playoff seed. HERE WE COME!

OK...i'm sometimes a bit more optimistic than i should be. but why not!!?!? ya know!?!... it can happen for sure. Something can just CLICK.....and when things CLICK, you'll know it. Because everybody will be doing their own role that they need to. To constribute their little bit that they bring to make the team WHOLE.

This team never been completely healthy with eachother....Either Kidd's out in the begining of the season, or terry is out with his hand, or howard has a hurt ankle. Or Stackhouse is down, or george, or shawne williams. they all contribute something. Plus, Kidd has a whole year of team chemistry building and this team as been to several wars in the past together as it is. So....like i said, if they just all do their part. Which are these.....

Star-divide

Jason Kidd - Hes a big bodied PG that has the advantage on littler ones and can post them up easier. Get more rebounds. And can contribute a bit easier because he looks up and sees the court. ALTHOUGH, hes not fast enough at times to keep up with the little studs such as parker, harris, and paul. Then again, WHO CAN!?!.. so don't be so tuff on Kidd. These guys have half his size/age/ and bball IQ. So he can take care of his own business. Plus, he navigates this team. Watch his tonight, he tells people where to pass it. Who to pass it to. He sees the mismatches and has  been hitting key shots!

Josh Howard - By far our stupidest athlete off the court on the team. But he ignites this team in the beginning of games. When Dirk and the crew are starting to warm up and work themselves into the game. Josh Pops off for 14, 16 points. Also, even though hes not the best of the best of defenders. Hes considered our lock down guy. (Watch who he guards when we play the cavs and lakers.)

Jose Juan Barea - What a great call starting him against pheonix huh? His style of play matched the Suns style of play. The mavs Can play with any style of play. they can Run and gun with kidd and JJ. Or they can slow it down and muscle up against the spurs. JJ steped up BIG time and pretty much took up J-Ho's role. JJ is a great boost of energy off the bench and can really ware down the other teams guards energy. Its a plus hes offensive minded (more so then kidd)... because it kind of balances out the PG play for the mavericks.

Jerry Stackhouse - This is the only player i'm having an issue with on this team. When he was first drafted into the NBA out of UNC he was being coined the "next michael Jordan" Because he was taken out of UNC at the same over all pick as MJ. Not only that but a PF from UNC was drafted right after Stackhouse just like Sam Perkins was taken right after MJ from UNC right after MJ. I'm no so convinced that he completely wants to accept his role and a backup role player. Hes been the MAN before. we will see how he reacts when he becomes healthy again.

The JET - how important is this guy?!?! One of the only other guys that can creat their own shot and blow up for 30 on any given night. and what a spark plug off the bench! When Dirk was out Wednesday night against the Trailblazers, Terry carried the team for a while to give Dirk a breather before the final 5 min. push of the game.

DIRK - Don't need to say much. Hall of famer. does his business. Has his off games here and there. BEAST

bad bASS brandon - Plays PF and comes in for dirk, but MOSTLY comes in for dampier. Again, a player that just puts his head down and plays. Listens to what is told to him and doesn't try to do too much. Hard playing guy that is a fit for scorers and rebound getters. he works hard to do all the fundamentals. which is exactly what the mavs need  their role players to do.

Ryan Hollins - We wanted this guy because he 7 feet tall. yes. but thats not all. Hes quick, agile, young. Hes something the Mavs have never had. A quick chris bosh like center. yeah, hes young, kinda goofy, probably won't be an all star ever. But if he keep workin hard. hes a boost of energy off the  bench and again, does the FUNDAMENTALS!!!....he did  great against shaq and putin up 6 pounts.

Antoine Wright - The starting shooting guard for this star studded team. He is the a fundamental, great percentage shooting, energy boosting player for the beginning of the game. He doesn't turn over the ball and he knows his place. And heck, he has the ability to blow up on any given night as well if he wants to. He starts, but only plays 22 min. a game. He plays as much as the bench guy does but picks up when others are slackin and start the  game great for us.

Erick Dampier - He certainly has his flaws. BUT, hes a big big body down low. And Terry is right, when Dampier is playin great and puting up points and rippin down  boards. the team plays better. hes a big center piece to this team. He doesn't show up much on stats. But hes there as a presence on the court.

Gerald Green - WOW...what an athlete....we all know about him in the slam dunk contest. Quick, good defender, needs more time. ALSO, needs to get a little bit more developed.

James Singleton -  Hes been around for a while. played all over seas. can come in with a spark of energy and points......has size and can play against either bigger slower pf or quicker ones...even a few larger sg's

Matt Carroll - The sharp shooter of the team. Very smart, not as atheltic as most. But can shoot lights out when he gets going. hes been hurt lately. Before he did get hurt he was getting quite a bit of playing time though. i think when hes up and healthy he can play real well for us.

Devin George - Has won a championship before with the lakers. He played ALOT with the lakers. WHY? because hes athletic, plays GREAT defense. And for our team, he gives us some solid D along with some veterinism. hes been there and done that. He needs to produce a bit more than he is though!...plus, him getting hurt against portland doesn't help either.

last but not least....shawne williams - young young athletic guy. We are stacked at the 2 and 3 spot. been hurt for a while...doesn't play much..needs to get some more experience and learn from the talented crew around him.

You see what i'm saying about them working together and having their own individual roles to bring this team together as one whole!?!....I'm not giving up on this team!!

Wow

It says something that you can find positives in TDG and Carroll…great read especially for our eternal optimists here (off the top of my head, I’m thinking of bruce182 and hugommorais).

ha

is someone trying to convince himself that this season isn’t a lost one and this team isn’ t a finished one??? just promise you won’t kill yourself when we get swept by the Lakers and Cuban promptly removes half of the guys you think have a “role” here.

We are stacked at the 2 and 3 spot?
