Let him run till he drops. If it doesn’t work, then he has a summer to rest. He takes a lot of pressure off Dirk.

And he still plays at a high level, but this series he is totally out … The problem is not scoring, is that he has few assists
Did you see the way he looked at Wright

kidd
is a good compliment player but not for 20 million a year at this time in his career………Damp has his moments but few and far between. I wish they would play Hollins more…….just like watching the Rangers I would rather watch hustle players with errors than players who dont hustle or never noticed in a gaem
I really like Kidd, but...
Just look at the starting lineup. Dirk is an easy 25 pts. Josh when healthy is steady 18-20 pts. Damp, Wright, and Kidd will give 2-5 pts each. Other teams are way ahead of us when it comes to the starting lineup alone.
Wright
is turning into a better player….remember this is the first year he played alot, so he has a year or two before I write him off
he's a bench guy in my mind
his ceiling is probably a good defender who can score a bit. like Shane Battier, but an obviously worse defender.
If we can upgrade the center position and reduce Kidd's contract to something like
7 – 8 mil a year … that would be fine … Kidd still plays at a high level … It’s just that he is out on those playoffs …
what is damp's trade value?
does he have expiring contract???
The second year is not guaranteed, hence he is the Erick Dampier 2010 Expiring Contract
And Mark Cuban will trade the shit out of him. Same with Stack’s 2 million guaranteed.
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
Though Stack must be traded before August. Dampier could wait until the deadline.
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
that's why this year must be Plan A, not 2010
Kidd, and some of the scrubs are off the books, while Damp, Stack, and Josh are expirers.
yeah, his last year had those conditions about all starts and all that ...
We can get something good in return for that …
You think New Orleans will take Damp and an early draft pick or something for Chris Paul
I think he’d be a good compliment for Dirk.
CP3 will be awesome with pretty much anyone
If you think CP3-West is a good tandem, just imagine CP3-Dirk. Dirk is not exactly a “feed me, please” kind of player who never really gets doubled. 2 of the Top 10 players in the world on one team? Woah.
No way NO does it, though. But you’ll never know.
this season is OVER
we arent making up 14 pts in denver… we arent playing enough D.. we arent getting to the defensive glass… we are playing like losers… and that is what we will be tonight..

"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
wow
I just can’t get use to it and I know the season just started but the Rangers have pitching……starters going far in games……..and o’day has turned out to be a good pickup…..and to think the bats haven’t kicked in like they should so its promising. Lastly they hustle and play hard every night and damnit thats why i watch them lol
Didn't Simmons and his buddy pick them to win their division this year?
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
I am not surebut
most experts picked them to finish last in the division and like always they said another year of suck @$$ picthing

awesome but
you said you were behind the mavs bench yet your looking across at the Denver bench unless they put Dallas across the court from Denver its bogus or you lied about your seating :)
Here we go...
Josh Howard jacking up shot from 20+ ft…thats what he does best…ugh
If Josh Howard wants to develop into an outside bricklayer, it would be better to trade for Michael Redd
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
They should trade him for basketballs or something like that...
like the minor league team that traded the kid for 10 wooden bats
well
make no mistake josh is not healthy and ankles are everything to a bball player so we can give him a little bit of a break
Kidd thinks he's Kapono tonight.

hehe ... Man, you will se a triple double from him with 4 3 pointers made ...
Before you see him smiling
the Mavs are climbing their way out by scoring
not by defending and making stops. I think we need Bass in there instead of Damp.
A mav fan from the stands
is better than Damp on the court
Damp-a-foul
can we foul our own player to get him off the court? just a thought lol
better yet, have him hit Melo with a camera in the face
but knowing Damp, he’ll just fumble the camera
We should trade him for basketballs or something like that...

Dear Cuban,

Why

but I absolutely want him gone this offseason. He’s one of the few rotation players with a negative +/-… no defense or rebounding and really inefficient scoring. He doesn’t have a position. Either he doesn’t score at the 3 or plays 4 and can’t defend.

It's worse than anything Cuban said
@sportsguy33: If you were Denver, wouldn’t you have bailed out Nowitzki’s fiancee and sat her courtside behind Dallas’ bench? (Waiting.) What? Too soon?
@sportsguy33: What’s worse: That your fiancee turned out to be a former stripper with 8 aliases who got sent to jail, or that she once dated Tony Banks?
@sportsguy33: Wait, does this mean I have to return the 2007 NBA MVP Trophy that I bought on eBay for 350 bucks last week?
@sportsguy33: Do you think Dirk caught on when they were figuring out their wedding song and she got confused and offered him three dances for $100?

It also means that you have a great chance at getting the best talent in drafts too. The NBA has created a much more palatable product for losing teams and giving those teams, and their fans, a chance to be something worthwhile.

Better, but I never thought the Kidd trade would put the Mavs over the top anyway

We have a future now ... Last year we were fucked up, but we had Juwan Howard on the roster ...
At least we have a few young guys … And will have a few options to trade on offseason

This year > Last year, not even close
Last year’s team was full of Denny’s regulars, and coached by an egomaniacal coach who’s outstayed his welcome.
This year we had a so-so team, but nonetheless exceeded expectations. Props to some good coaching and player pride. Mavs did not overachieve. They simply achieved this year.
LOL @ that statement
Seems simple enough. Also, I have found it odd that the Mavs picked up the pace with Carlisle as opposed to Avery. It’s not like Carlisle ever coached fast paced teams in Detroit or Indiana.

Dirk was fantastic ...
That guy carries one of the worst rosters a superstar has to carry right now … Terry is sucking so much … Dampier’s corpses are well, corpses … Josh is playing on a wheel chair … Kidd wasn’t his normal self here …
i'd actually say a big fat YES to that - if it's what Dirk wants - I'd hate to see us lose Dirk, but I really think
that poor guy deserves a ring, and not sure if he’ll get it here in Dallas or not

It was a fun year
I wanna say “great” but that’s not literally true. Lot’s of ups and downs, but we still ended up with 50 wins and got to the 2nd round. This team showed a lot of heart and character, particularly towards the end of the season, carrying it to the playoffs. Looking forward to some positive off-season changes.
GO MAVS!
Lots of ifs this season ...
If we had a healthy and motivated Josh all season … we would be in a totally different position … We can upgrade a lot next year … We have a future

It was a year, with a lot of heart
Especially that when the playoffs started, everyone was saying Dallas would be one-and-done.
Sorry about the loss guys.
Thanks for letting a Blazer fan join you on the ride.
See you next year.
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.
Thanks for keeping me entertained while I'm on the radio guys and gals
I’m sad we lost, but a pretty good year overall (beating the spurs is always a win!)
Let’s regroup for next year and give the NBA hell!

I thought
the mavs played a good game but Denver just had an answer for everything we threw at them. I just cant get over all the hoopla about Denver’s defense that people are talking about…..Dallas avg way over 100 for the series….that is not championship defense.
Dirk was three assists away from a triple double
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.

Lets get it over with
speaking of fish, I have a plate full of catfish, that i’ll be attending to. (sniff)
while winning always sux...
doesn’t feel nearly as bad as the last two years.
I know what you mean
We really competed in this one and showed a lot of heart.
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
The NBA needs to clean up officiating regarding categories of fouls asap
It’s not the sole reason the Mavs lost that series, but it still has to change. Same in the Bulls-Celtics series. It’s just too damn nontransparent and inconsistent.

Must've been tough for Rick tonight
Burying his mentor and then having to fly to Denver and coach a game.

It's amazing how much shipping out Camby and swapping AI for Billups has fired up that franchise
Freed up Nene. And combined with Melo getting more motivated they really took the next step.

gooD CrowD
our Crowd in Denver was Concerned when jAson kidd fall hard on the floor
Please stop acting
as if your crowd is now the best of all time….crowds do that all the time …..and you act as if it was such a big deal ….weird I never heard the standing ovation …….. some fans need to rub it in for attention instead of having some class
All of you keep coming here in the offseason?
It’s my first one following mavsmoneyball
BE is crowded during the offseason. Don't know about this place but will check in from time to time :)
Love the draft. After that it gets a bit quiet.
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
I hope Cuban buys a second draft pick and moves up a bit
But don’t hinder the Blazers plan to draft Blair (or whoever we want)!
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
I don't know much about this draft ...
Is hard to follow College and all that from here … But I think we can buy a high pick by trading Stack’s contract together with our own pick … Like we did with Harris

yeah me too
We can have our own little game threads for the WCF and the Finals, even though we don’t really care that much.
There is a "travelling game thread" on the less frequented blogs
Or pick a side, but it gets increasingly difficult since i don’t like most teams left :)

You guys can care for Orlando
Unless their season ends tomorrow.
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
You screwed up at least as much as the Mavs giving away the last two games
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
Yeah, the past few games (from both teams) have been painful for me
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
The front runner thing?
I’m trying to remember the quote.
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
Shaq says
I know for a fact that he’s a master of panic, and when it gets time for his team to go in the postseason and do certain things, he will let them down because of his panic.
Oh, that...thanks
What bugs me about SVG is why he’s so insistent on using Redick in the 4th when he’s not at all productive. Lee better get his starting spot back tomorrow or I’ll be pissed.
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
The thing with Reddick
is he seems to be better off starting. He sucks more than he’s good, but he’s not one of those guys who can still be good coming off the bench—he’s like a scrub version of A.I., in a way.
SVG should run the ball through Dwight for the 1st 3 and 1/2 quarters. Doesn’t matter if he doesn’t have the moveset. Then let Hedo/Rashard close it at the end.
I guess it's not the starting that really bugs me
But the fact that he’s been on the floor in the 4th taking up Lee’s minutes while not being productive. Dwight definitely needs more touches…Hedo hasn’t been himself in this series.
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
I havent been here long
But I’m glad I was here, you guys are like the family I actually wanted (save for my moms, love her 4 ever), lol. I’ll be there for off-season, next year and beyond. but until then It’s focusing for Cowboys season.

yeah, but I havent posted lately due to school and Mavs.
and now my personal swan song for this season.
Its been a weird ride but thus is the case when you're a Mavs fan
It sucks to lose but I don’t know why I have a gut feeling something impactful is going to happen this offseason. Nothing in the area of a Gasol typr trade but something substantial. I don’t know maybe it’s just me being the eternal optimist but change is just around the corner.
You mean we're not going to wait and hope to attract a free agent with our spacious locker room and private jet?
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
Coz its Dallas?
Yea we are! hahaha nah I don’t know I just really think that something beneficial will come from this offseason. We can all hope
Dirk gives Denver credit and wishes them luck
Oh no, the TNT crew is probably going to get on him for being too nice and honest!
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
Not just you
They went to Jones for an arena interview
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
Did anybody else secretly hope Dirk would punch somebody in the face for always grabbing him on defense in the final minutes?
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
speaking of final minutes
I switched channels before it ended. Was there any congratulating after the game? If so, which players?
They made a point of showing Dirk and K-Mart hugging
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
I think K-Mart made fun of Dirk after that wacky shot of his
In Game 1, maybe?
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
I saw Kidd hugging a lot of guys. And I think Howard

by hugommorais on May 13, 2009 11:37 PM CDT up reply actions
I am so glad we have him but we need to get him a ring. Soon.
If anybody deserves a championship it’s Dirk, no questions about it.
Now that his involvement with dubious characters has been revealed we can't use him on the Blazers anymore
Just kidding
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
I would take Terry too, but his contract and age don't really fit. Bass would be nice, but I want the Mavs to be competitive too
I really wanted them to win before the Blazers window opens. Dirk needs that ring.
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
maybe Dirk can do it in Portland...
last time they were champs, a lanky white dude was leading them. lol
I love Dirk, but from a franchise perspective the Blazers need to keep Aldridge
Maybe Dirk could go the Knicks with LeBron if things in Dallas don’t work out for two seasons :)
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
I love Dirk, but if he goes to Miami I don't know how I can root for that team
I just hate them so much
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
lol - that's what had me laughing - picturing him with up in the air in the middle of a crowd...with that intent
look on his face, and those pigtails poking out either side….priceless mental image

Kirk Hinrich
Marcin Gortat
David Lee
Sorry, not sure how realistic those are!
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
David Lee wants starter money. Not sure if the Knicks would be interested in sign and trade
Maybe if we would take on Jeffries contract.
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
Oh, and stay away from Kirk. I need him for my Blazers unless something miraculous happens
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
You can have him if we get Rubio/Arenas/Sessions/something amazing
Since that is unlikely, I want Blake 2.0 = Kirk
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
Chris Paul (not realistic at all) ...
Josh Smith …
We need a center … what is the best center we can get? Joel from the blazers?
by hugommorais on May 13, 2009 11:45 PM CDT up reply actions
Shaq
Free agent centers: Zaza Pachulia, maybe Z if he opts out, Sheed
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
Sheed, when he actually wants to play
uses the same spots as Dirk. I don’t think he’s a good fit here.
I fear he will sign with San Antonio
And/or they will get Tiago Splitter in 2010. Then their window stays open.
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
splitter is good!! one more brazilian on nba ...
but his contract is way bigger on europe …
by hugommorais on May 13, 2009 11:52 PM CDT up reply actions
In 2010 they can sign him to a contract outside the rookie scale. Small CBA loophole
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
Maybe he comes for next season ... a few months ago he said something like that
by hugommorais on May 13, 2009 11:55 PM CDT up reply actions
The sponsor of his club is broke :)
So they could be ready to move. I saw Buford, Lindsey, Popovich at the Euroleague Final Four scouting. Wouldn’t be surprised if 1 or 2 Euro vets show up next year to replace Finley & Co.
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
yeah sure ...
i think it’s almost safe to say that the Spurs will be very competitive next year with a new roster … Or they can shut Parker, Manu and Duncan down for the season and get a number one pick … and start all over again
by hugommorais on May 14, 2009 12:00 AM CDT up reply actions
Maybe the Mavs should tank for a year and draft John Wall as the new star guard
But unlikely, and while he will be great he won’t be instant championship.
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
sheed is soooo overrated ...
the thing with him is that he is good when he wants to play. But that never happens
by hugommorais on May 13, 2009 11:51 PM CDT up reply actions
go for shaq ... I don't know if he has another year left ... but half shaq is better than damp

proud of our mavs…next season starts today
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle

and start with the exact roster… hahaha!
I'm not listening
Do you mean women in general or this woman specifically
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
well
When I’m listening and women call in, they don’t usually offer good input. This particular woman had a point, but was very “Around the Horn” about it, if you know what I mean. She mentioned the team was soft (mentioned Dirk) and needed some thugs.
Wow
How people can still call Dirk soft, especially after this series, is beyond me.
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
this one woman was particularly annoying about it
I hate when women talk like they’re not women. Keep the poise, sisters.
Maybe she was drunk
No excuse, but still…
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
I can't listen to the Dallas sports call in shows
because the biggest hicks in the world are always on. It’s weird.
www.mavsmoneyball.com
No way. The biggest hicks call into sports shows in Portland. Or they moderate shows like Cowherd
