by ptrck on May 13, 2009 9:14 PM CDT reply actions

kidd

is a good compliment player but not for 20 million a year at this time in his career………Damp has his moments but few and far between. by daniel1234 on May 13, 2009 9:18 PM CDT up reply actions

I really like Kidd, but...

Just look at the starting lineup. Dirk is an easy 25 pts. Josh when healthy is steady 18-20 pts. Damp, Wright, and Kidd will give 2-5 pts each. Other teams are way ahead of us when it comes to the starting lineup alone.

by ptrck on May 13, 2009 9:19 PM CDT up reply actions

It's worse than anything Cuban said

@sportsguy33: If you were Denver, wouldn’t you have bailed out Nowitzki’s fiancee and sat her courtside behind Dallas’ bench? (Waiting.) What? Too soon?

@sportsguy33: What’s worse: That your fiancee turned out to be a former stripper with 8 aliases who got sent to jail, or that she once dated Tony Banks?

@sportsguy33: Wait, does this mean I have to return the 2007 NBA MVP Trophy that I bought on eBay for 350 bucks last week?

@sportsguy33: Do you think Dirk caught on when they were figuring out their wedding song and she got confused and offered him three dances for $100?

@sportsguy33: “She’s a stripper with 8 aliases and a record, he’s a former NBA MVP from Germany, and I’m Maury Povich. Welcome back.”

Well Norsk

It also means that you have a great chance at getting the best talent in drafts too. The NBA has created a much more palatable product for losing teams and giving those teams, and their fans, a chance to be something worthwhile.

That didn’t happen in the mid 80’s.

This year > Last year, not even close

Last year’s team was full of Denny’s regulars, and coached by an egomaniacal coach who’s outstayed his welcome.

This year we had a so-so team, but nonetheless exceeded expectations. Props to some good coaching and player pride. Mavs did not overachieve. They simply achieved this year.

by ptrck on May 13, 2009 10:52 PM CDT up reply actions

LOL @ that statement

Seems simple enough. Also, I have found it odd that the Mavs picked up the pace with Carlisle as opposed to Avery. It’s not like Carlisle ever coached fast paced teams in Detroit or Indiana.

It was a fun year

I wanna say “great” but that’s not literally true. Lot’s of ups and downs, but we still ended up with 50 wins and got to the 2nd round. This team showed a lot of heart and character, particularly towards the end of the season, carrying it to the playoffs. Looking forward to some positive off-season changes.

GO MAVS!

Lots of ifs this season ...

If we had a healthy and motivated Josh all season … we would be in a totally different position … We can upgrade a lot next year … We have a future

It was a year, with a lot of heart

Especially that when the playoffs started, everyone was saying Dallas would be one-and-done.

Sorry about the loss guys.

Thanks for letting a Blazer fan join you on the ride.

See you next year.

My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

Thanks for keeping me entertained while I'm on the radio guys and gals

I’m sad we lost, but a pretty good year overall (beating the spurs is always a win!)

Let’s regroup for next year and give the NBA hell!

I thought

the mavs played a good game but Denver just had an answer for everything we threw at them. I just cant get over all the hoopla about Denver’s defense that people are talking about…..Dallas avg way over 100 for the series….that is not championship defense.

by daniel1234 on May 13, 2009 10:54 PM CDT reply actions

yeah

The Mavs lost because of TOs and not having enough scoring, not because of this newly found Denver defense. They have improved, sure, but not enough to be called a good defensive team. Those playoff stats are deceiving.

The NBA needs to clean up officiating regarding categories of fouls asap

It’s not the sole reason the Mavs lost that series, but it still has to change. Same in the Bulls-Celtics series. It’s just too damn nontransparent and inconsistent.

Is hard to follow College and all that from here … But I think we can buy a high pick by trading Stack’s contract together with our own pick … Like we did with Harris

Shaq says

I know for a fact that he’s a master of panic, and when it gets time for his team to go in the postseason and do certain things, he will let them down because of his panic.

by ptrck on May 13, 2009 11:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Oh, that...thanks

What bugs me about SVG is why he’s so insistent on using Redick in the 4th when he’s not at all productive. Lee better get his starting spot back tomorrow or I’ll be pissed.

I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.

by Marie on May 13, 2009 11:25 PM CDT up reply actions

The thing with Reddick

is he seems to be better off starting. He sucks more than he’s good, but he’s not one of those guys who can still be good coming off the bench—he’s like a scrub version of A.I., in a way.

SVG should run the ball through Dwight for the 1st 3 and 1/2 quarters. Doesn’t matter if he doesn’t have the moveset. Then let Hedo/Rashard close it at the end.

by ptrck on May 13, 2009 11:29 PM CDT up reply actions

I guess it's not the starting that really bugs me

But the fact that he’s been on the floor in the 4th taking up Lee’s minutes while not being productive. Dwight definitely needs more touches…Hedo hasn’t been himself in this series.

I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.

Its been a weird ride but thus is the case when you're a Mavs fan

It sucks to lose but I don’t know why I have a gut feeling something impactful is going to happen this offseason. Nothing in the area of a Gasol typr trade but something substantial. I don’t know maybe it’s just me being the eternal optimist but change is just around the corner.

I would take Terry too, but his contract and age don't really fit. Bass would be nice, but I want the Mavs to be competitive too

I fear he will sign with San Antonio

And/or they will get Tiago Splitter in 2010. Then their window stays open.

The sponsor of his club is broke :)

So they could be ready to move. I saw Buford, Lindsey, Popovich at the Euroleague Final Four scouting. Wouldn’t be surprised if 1 or 2 Euro vets show up next year to replace Finley & Co.

yeah sure ...

i think it’s almost safe to say that the Spurs will be very competitive next year with a new roster … Or they can shut Parker, Manu and Duncan down for the season and get a number one pick … and start all over again

by hugommorais on May 14, 2009 12:00 AM CDT up reply actions

Maybe the Mavs should tank for a year and draft John Wall as the new star guard

But unlikely, and while he will be great he won’t be instant championship.
