I want Artest.
Too long between playoff games. Unfortunate story about Dirk. Nothing to do on a Thursday night. How about some off the wall ideas?
Ron Artest. Bring him on board. Trade Howard and Terry for Bosh and Kapono. Role with Dirk/Bosh/Artest as your core.
The Bosh trade might be a pipe dream. My thinking is that Toronto knows he's leaving in 2010 why not try to get something for him? Dallas would obviously lock him up and they were already trying to land someone from the 2010 class, so there you go.
I'm serious about Artest. The only problem I see is how.... He's probably going to want some security and more than the MLE. But it would definitely shake things up.
Thoughts?

I don't see how they're
going to get Artest with the cap space they have. Unfortunately, that Bosh trade, even if they toss in the rights to their first-round draftee (which figures to be a decent role player), is also a pipe-dream as you’d be asking them to take Terry’s giant contract.
But hey, nice post, we’ve got to consider all options if the Mavs are going to pull a championship out from between the closing window. I’m still a big fan of going for Joe Johnson: he’s the guard able to create his own shot that I think will pair up well with even an aging Dirk.

Terry's contract is just long,
he’s actually making less than Howard this season.

That's the deal-breaker
it’s a long contract paying plenty of moolah, for an aging guard who’s really only good as a scorer.

but I bet some team out there would still take him
having just won the 6MOTY award and all. I think if the Mavs want to move him, then this off-season is the right time (to try it, at least).

Seems to be a popular player again these days :)
Mavs, Rockets, Blazers, Bulls, … fans are all discussing if he is worth the risk.

Hell yes he's worth the risk.
No troubles this season, I can’t see why anything will happen if he isn’t provoked…

It's because Daryl Morey
apparently was a genius about it.
According to a friend who’s a Rockets fan, Morey told Houston Summer League coaches to run plays for Donte Greene through Summer League, thus upping his trade value to use as a chip in the Artest deal.

ron artest is insane
and houstons offer to sac sucked
"Daryl (Morey, the Rockets general manager) and I were talking this morning. We both discussed how great Tracy is in the playoffs. There's very few people who have the ability to step up their games in the playoffs and he does. So we're not looking to run away from Tracy." - Houston Rockets Owner, Leslie Alexander
muhahahaha WTF?!?!

Trade Proposal
Mavs:Terry
Portland:blake and outlaw
both blake and outlaw are excellent 3pt shooters and would spread the floor for dirk.

I like the idea off getting rid of Terry's contract,
but I think we could get more in return for Terry
