Mavs Eye Pick No. 5
from ESPN insider...
Mavs eye pick No. 5?
The Mavericks are said to be interested in the fifth pick and the prospect of drafting Jordan Hill.
The teams have made nice in the past, most recently in the swap that secured Antawn Jamison in 2004. The Mavericks also were kind enough to relieve the Wizards of Juwan Howard in 2001.
The Mavericks apparently are willing to part with either Jason Terry or Josh Howard to sweeten a potential deal. The Mavericks would be obligated to accept an expiring contract of the Wizards, the one belonging to either the Etan Thomas or Mike James. -- The Washington Time

Can we get Rubio with this pick?

Nope
If he’s there at 5, which is doubtful, Washington will most likely take him and keep him.

Actually
There was a report yesterday saying that Ricky Rubio’s agent, Dan Fegan, does not want Rubio to play for Washington with Gilbert Arenas. So maybe if Rubio likes Dallas enough than he might be interested in working out for them if this trade were made.

No way Rubio is slipping past the Kings though
The whole city would go streaking if Rubio fell to them.

Maybe we could trade for the forth pick and take Rubio.
S-St. Louis, R-Rams, D-Dallas, M-Mavericks, A-Arizona, D-Diamondbacks.

I feel it's like Kobe's situation then
when he wouldn’t like to play for Charlotte. Maybe Rubio and his guy can force a trade to a marquee city with a marquee team (Dallas!)?

Why doesn't he want to play for the Wizards?
Was Arenas specifically mentioned?
I’d love to have Rubio here, especially with the Jason Kidd uncertainty.

no deal
I like Rubio too, and I don’t think he’ll be there at 5.

The farthest I've seen Rubio fall is 4
Blah.

Cuban
Kings don’t have money, Dallas does. This could convince them to trade Rubio because of his big buyout.

IIRC teams are capped at what they can contribute to a buyout
Rubio would have to figure that one out on his own

The team buyout cap is 500k
Regarding the large buyout, it seems that Rubio’s family has hired a “labor law firm” out of Spain to contest the huge buyout. Apparently, he thinks its unfair to have a buyout in excess of 6.6 mil for someone who made a mere $97,000 this season.
