New Improved Plan
Here is a better more possible plan for the Mavs starting Thursday Night
The Mavs need changes, big changes so we need to start this offseason with some key changes.
Resign Jason Kidd, Brandon Bass, Ryan Hollins, and maybe James Singleton
Draft Ty Lawson or move up at 22.
Buy a 1st rd pick from one of the teams who is selling and draft Terrence Williams
Sign Marquis Daniels
Trade Jerry Stackhouse, JJ Barea and Erick Dampier for Marcus Camby and Chris Kaman
Get Shan FOster on the team then switch him in and out of the D League
PG- Jason Kidd
SG- Marquis Daniels
SF- Josh Howard
PF- DIrk Nowitzki
C- Marcus Camby
SG- Jason Terry
PF- Brandon Bass
C- Chris Kaman
SF- Terrence Williams
PG- Ty Lawson
SF- Antoine Wright
C- Ryan Hollins
SG/SF- Shan Foster

Better, but...
I still don’t think any one of those ideas is realistic.
The Clippers are going to keep one of those two centers. They are really hoping to get rid of Zach Randolf, but he’s got more baggage ($$$, bad attitude, underachiever) than just about anyone in the league. The most you’ll get from LAC is one Center
Daniels is still under the control of the Pacers. He’s not a FA and he’s not a starter.
Finally, no one is “selling” their pick.
Daniels
has a team option. I agree the Clippers will not give up both centers.
Not sure it would work
Good theory, but i think the clippers will give up camby OR kaman, not both, and who’s to say they would want barea. On the draft picks, if we were to buy one, i think it should be on a player like jeff teague. But all in all good ideas, i like the idea of gett marquis back here
I like where your head is at regarding the PG/Terrence Williams idea
if we can get Lawson and Williams in this draft, HUGE.
But once again, as already stated, we won’t get Camby AND Kaman. I think it’s Kaman or bust honestly. And we might have to take Randolph with him. Which is OK, if we can get rid of Dampier and Terry’s contracts this year, and then trade him before 2010 to a team that wants his cap relief the following year, where that contract will be more valuable…but we might have to pay a portion of his contract before trading it.
I would love to walk away at the end of this offseason subtracting Terry, Stackhouse, Dampier and Singleton from the current roster and adding Lawson, Williams, a SG/SF free agent for the MLE, Zach Randolph and Chris Kaman to this team. With a healthy Josh Howard, this team could compete.

If we get Randolph
I wonder if we keep Bass

I like Singleton
He is a good 10th guy, a guy that you can put in there and will defend and might score a few points along the way, basically he is a much better version of Devean George

I love Singleton
but there’s a pretty good chance that we’ll have to let one of Singleton, Hollins or Bass walk during the offseason – and I think he’s the one I’d like to keep least

Would you take Darren Collison over Ty Lawson
at a slightly lower draft position?
Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.
If I could get an extra pick...
be it late lottery/late teens, and take Terrence Williams with that pick, and Lawson was off the board at that point, I’d be all over Collison. I really think Lawson and Collison can end up being the best PGs out of this draft…at least for the 3 years it will take Rubio to start contributing as a starter
