Positives of this draft

IMO we did do well in the draft, yes there are some deals we could've had but we can't get them all but with what we had they did a good job today. Here are some reasons why.

Star-divide

The biggest thing for me is we at least got one guy that might help this year, Rodrigue and Nivins are both going to the Summer league so we will get to see them pretty soon.

Another is we drafted the Best Available Athlete, Rodrigue is a freak athlete, not even a blink slower than Devin but with a 6-10 wingspan and a 40 vertical inch jump, from day one he should be able to get to the rim on some teams and he has a nice shot as well.

I do like the Calathes pick for what we gave up, a future pick which we had 3 second rounders next year (Portland's, and 2 Thunders) and a little cash, yea we won't see him this year but from all reports he is good with the ball and can shoot, also is 6-5 so he could play the SG position.

Nivins I see is in case Bass leaves we will have Singleton but will have someone there in case of injuries and might be a gem, he averaged a double-double and does already have some low post moves.

We went from 1 pick to having 3 and potentially 2 contributors this year.

Now its on to FA and more trades.

How would anyone feel if

We get a Center w/ Stackhouse chip if we got for Von Wafer w/ the MLE, he would finally solve our problem at shooting guard and is a pretty good player, also awesome name

Not sold on Wafer

And...

I keep thinking of Kirk Snyder shitting on him in 06, unfortunately.

I think

Beaubois and Nivins could swing between the NBA and the D-League. If the Mavs do resign their main guys, that rotation will be kinda deep for them unless they really do well in preseason. But I hope they do enough learning to warrant moving into the rotation ASAP, maybe the season after.

Calathes is a nice guy to have in development over in Europe, I liked the move.

One more move, Donnie. Go sign Dionte Christmas.

Did we get to keep both Calathes and Nivins?

I am getting conflicting reports.

"Oh, get a job? Just get a job? Why don't I strap on my job helmet, and squeeze down into a job cannon and fire off into job land, where jobs grow on jobbies!"

Calathes only

is what ESPN said. But He’s staying in Greece to play, so we don’t have to sign him now.

DB.com says we have both

Yes...

we have all three. As much everyone complains about Donnie, he was able to parlay the 22 pick into 3 prospects. We all new we weren’t getting a difference maker picking that late. Beabois may be this years sleeper. I think a couple years behind Kidd and he becomes a great player.

I see him as more of a Barbosa

with better defense. I think Calathes is the PG of the future for this team, as of this moment…but the future may not come for 2 or 3 more years for him

free agents and trades

We should try sign josh childress or anderson varejao or antonio mcdyes. in trades we should trade for wilson chandler and jared jeffries and give the knicks jerry stackhouse and antoine wright. Now we can trade josh howard for a big like tyson chandler or chris kaman

roster after moves
kidd-barea- beobiuos
childress-green.calathes
chandler-singleton
dirk-bass
kaman- or chandler-dampier

Y trade Josh

Is Wilson Chandler better than Josh, no, IMO we need to keep our 3 all-stars (Kidd, Dirk, Josh) and try to get another, but I don’t think we will be able to but some second tier guys like Kaman, Camby, T. Chandler, T. Prince, Rip Hamilton, so if we can get 2 ( My case for Prince is that Howard can move to the 2 guard spot) we will be much better off, I do like trying to get Childress (isn’t he overseas though). I’m starting to lean more towards T. Chandler for C since we might get to get him by just relieving some cash from NO and he can catch the ball for dunks, and is a very athletic defender but he would have to be healthy. With Kidd he would probably average 6-8 points but would have less TO than Damp and is a better rebounder than Damp.
