Mavs Have Interest in Wizards 5th Pick?
Chad Ford had this little blurb in an ESPN chat yesterday.
Can the Wizards get Ricky Rubio or Blake Griffin? : What would a deal look like?
Chad Ford: I don't think they can get Griffin, but Rubio maybe. it would likely cost them Javale McGee. If the Wizards can't get either guy, I expect them to trade the pick. A few teams like the Knicks, Rockets, and Mavericks have real interest.
Hmm, the Mavs making a trade for the Wizards fifth pick.... Haven't we seen that before?
Who would you take at 5?
UPDATE: Jonathan Givony of Draft Express has more details and says Dallas is eyeing Jordan Hill.

Probably Josh Howard ...
Unless they want to dump salary and get Dampier. I don’t know … They said that trading that pick they would like someone to help win now …

Yeah, it's hard to say.
Bullets Forever pointed this out from Draft Express yesterday.
They really don’t have a terrible contract (besides Gilbert) that they need to get rid of. Mike James and Etan Thomas only have a year left, so they would basically be selling their 5th pick for 5 million in savings if it was Stackhouse — no way that would happen.
Josh Howard would seem a likely target. Maybe something like Howard and the 22nd for the 5th, Etan Thomas, and Andrway Blatche. WAS would not want to include Blatche, but Dallas would ask for him. Then the Wiz would probably come back with like Javaris Crittenton.

JET is more likely than Howard
The wizards are full at SF, they are looking for a SG to pair with Arenas. Terry is much more likely to be traded to the Wizards than Howard, although that’s not saying much.

This jumped out at me from their Jordan Hill profile:
Best Case: Better Rebounding Chris Wilcox
Worst Case: Ronny Turiaf
There’s no way that the best case for a top 5 NBA draft pick is Chris Wilcox Plus.

Take the 5 pick and trade it with Bass for the second pick and take Rubio.

We can't trade..
our pick either but that hasn’t stopped anyone from tossing it out there repeatedly.

We can't trade it before we pick
but we could arrange the trade and make our pick for someone.

Can we trade the pick to move up?
Like, if we’re staying in the draft? Or do they just have to have it arranged and we won’t know until after #22 whether we traded up or not?

Dallas has to make the 22nd pick
but if a trade is made we’ll find out before they make it.

If that's the case
I’d like to see us get Brandon Jennings at #5. Not too big on Hill, and I think Rubio’s gone by then, unless we deal that #5 to get #2.
What about James Harden? Everyone compares him to a left-handed Brandon Roy, but he isn’t really super-athletic.
Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.

“No projected lottery player was more surprising at the combine than James Harden. Many scouting reports on Harden say that he’s not athletic, but his results say otherwise. First, he recorded a 37" vertical and reached the same maximum height (11’8.5") as Blake Griffin. Second, he ran a 3.13 sprint, which was only one hundredth behind speedster Ty Lawson, and repped 17 on the bench press. It’s been reported that the Thunder are considering him at #3. With no more reservations about his athleticism, is this enough for Harden to leapfrog Rubio? "

I gotta go DeRozan
the more I read about him, the more he fits with this team AND could be a potential superstar. A Vince Carter starter package with upside? Sign me up.

Trades
They need to send Kidd to Boston for Rondo and Allen. Then sign and trade Boozer for Howard and Stack. The new starting line up….Rondo, Allen, Wright, Dirk & Boozer…..then….JJ, Terry, Singleton, Bass, and Damp.
