"I have a feeling now they (Magic) are going to match it,'' Gortat said Friday between Summer League Games. "That's what I'm hearing, they will match. We'll have to see, but I'm kind of down right now. Either way, I'll end up on a pretty good team.''

Back UP CENTER/ PF i am sure front office is scrambling for a back up plan
All warfare is based on deception.
what a dick move by the Magic (if they match)
First, they take the entire 7 days to decide and now they will apparently match just after the Mavs got them something for losing Turkoglu?! That’s not cool.
eh
it’s about making your team better. mavs should have told the magic under the table to verbally agree not to match

that's what I was thinking earlier (before this came out)
that the Mavs said “Hey, we make this a 4-way as long as you don’t match. Deal?” Now this comes out. If they indeed match, I hope every other team would refuse to deal with them from now on. Ugh.
I’m still hoping they won’t match. I just changed my avatar!
They're waiting the full week at Gortat's request
He’s hosting a basketball camp for children in Poland next week. If the Magic matched it, say, right now, he’d have to cancel the camp in order to stay stateside for physicals, etc. He asked Otis to delay the announcement as long as possible so he wouldn’t disappoint the campers.
Otis is obliging him.

As Wes put in the FanShots earlier today, Gortat thinks the Magic will match
That was the buzz today at RDV, with some media members believing Otis would take the… interesting…step of matching a rich offer sheet for a player who, although worth the money, won’t see much action behind arguably the league’s best player at his position.
But if you believe Eddie Sefko, then you believe the Magic will not match, and there’s nothing to worry about. Me? I don’t think Otis is silly enough to pay $7 M a year for a guy who’ll max out at 15 minutes per. If he matches, it’s only so he can trade him later.

I can't imagine they'd match it after giving Bass that money...
Just don’t believe it’ll happen…
If they’re willing to pay luxury tax for Bass and Gortat, why wouldn’t they pay it for Hedo?
It would be pretty damn cruel if Otis Smith did that
Gortat wants real minutes and he won’t get that in Orlando behind Dwight.
Yay, Roger!
FUCK ME DEAD FUCK ME DEAD FUCK ME DEAD
They’d be committing, what, nine mil a year for four years for a backup center and a backup power forward.
Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.
that's a bargain
when you look at how much shawn bradley was paid (he was even protected in the expansion draft!)

Eddie Sefko saves the day
Trust that Gortat will be here
Sometimes, you have to trust your sources.
What I’m hearing is that the Mavericks are very likely to end up with Marcin Gortat, despite the 6-11 center’s comments online to the contrary.
The players are not normally the ones that hear first that they are being kept or sent on.
All I can say is that the Mavericks seem pretty darn confident about this thing. I’m not saying there is a deal here. But I think the fact that Donnie Nelson has known Otis Smith since the Golden State days may help the situation here.
They know they are going to have to do business down the road.
Bottom line: Gortat is going to be a Maverick. That’s the betting favorite right now.
If this is true
what a SHITTY move by Orlando. Do not tell me that they want a 12 minute back up center so damn much that they’ll pay him the full MLE. And if they do this after we helped them with Hedo, it’s DOUBLE SHITTY.
We lose by 6, 59-65
It was an ugly, ugly game. Our undoing – turnovers (we had 25).
Nivins was impressive with 19 points and 6 boards. He played good defense on Joe Alexander, as well. Roddy B was sloppy (8 turnovers), but had a nice alley oop and showed his quickness when attacking the basket. Gelabale was good off the bench. Luke Jackson left with a bloody nose when the game was seconds from being over.
Yay, Roger!
