Beaubois a beast in 2nd Summer League Game
Just thought I'd bring it up after his first poor game. Here's the box score. We lost to Houston by 3pts.

7/12 from downtown reinforces some of the sharp-shooting we saw in the clip posted here at MavsMoneyBall earlier. Personal fouls seems to still be an issue since the first game.
Here's what Rick Carlise had to say.
"He brings us a different dimension. We don't have this kind of angular speed, or supreme-type athlete at the point guard position right now. So he gives us a different look."
Video Highlights can be found here.

He dropped some very long threes on Houston. Looked much better in game 2. I liked him going into the draft and have good hopes for him even though he will need some time to develop.
If you want to trade our spare parts for Devin Harris, I have three quarters I would like to trade for your dollar

He'll need to know how to draw fouls, not make them.

On a day when the Mavs inked future Hall of Famer Jason Kidd to a three-year deal, the best point guard in Las Vegas was Dallas rookie Roddy Beaubois. He dazzled, scoring 34 points on 12-of-21 shooting from the field (7-of-12 from 3-point range), recorded eight assists against only two turnovers. “He brings us a different dimension,” Dallas head coach Rick Carlisle said. “We don’t have this kind of angular speed, or supreme-type athlete at the point guard position right now. So he gives us a different look.” Carlisle was cautious in his praise. It’s only Beaubois’ second NBA game, and he still has to learn how to play an NBA brand of defense. “When you come from a mid-league in Europe to the NBA, you have to ratchet up your level of awareness,” Carlisle said.

david thorpe live tweeting from the summer league
david b. thorpe Beaubois has been the best pure pg I’ve seen this summer. Until George Hill. Westbrook is the most explosive game changer.

I like Roddy,
think he could be our Barbosa-clone eventually. He looks to be a better distributor though. I don’t expect much from him this year, but he should get great tutelage from Kidd and probably some from JJ, which should develop his game for future successes.

My first impression is a more athletic Rafer Alston.

Not a bad comp.
Although he has a better shot than Rafer and looks to score more. Definitely looks to have the physical tools to be that kind of a defender.

8 to 2
4:1 assist to turnover ratio is pretty damn nice, as are the 5 rebounds…the 9 personal fouls aren’t too discouraging, he’s still got a lot to learn, and I like that he’s aggressive. Wow. 34 points. WOW. I don’t care if it’s summer league, these guys are all pretty good athletes.
That was a pretty sweet crossover on the highlight – and you saw those long arms with the fake before he passed it down low for Nivins.

Impressive. I think one of the most impressive things to see is he can bounce back from a terrible performance and put up a spectacular one.
