Marcin Gortat and More

We basically just landed Gortat (most likely cuz ORL won't match)

Star-divide

Why do people say we are losing Bass cuz we got him? Play diff positions and we can still give Bass 6mil a year.

Here is what I think we should do now:

Trade Stack an Damp for Tayshaun Prince and Richard Hamilton. (salary cap reasons)

resign Kidd and Bass

try to get Daniels for the BAE

PG- Jason Kidd

SG- Richard Hamilton

SF- Josh Howard

PF- Dirk Nowitzki

C- Marcin Gortat

SG- Jason Terry

SF- Tayshaun Prince

PF- Brandon Bass

C- Ryan Hollins

PG- Rodrigue Beaubois

PG- JJ Barea

SG- Antoine Wright

PF- James Singleton

PF- Ahmad Nivins

SG- Matt Carroll or Shan Foster

Detroit

Why in the world would they do that?

No idea

Also, why would Tayshaun want to come here to sit on the bench?

I dont think

that Prince would want to move…but he has 3 years left on a contract. If he gets traded, he doesn’t have a choice where he goes. He’s only 29 years old, making 10 mil a year, and possibly overpaid for the job he performs. If the Pistons are serious about rebuilding their team, then they may be willing to part with him. However, if they are not going terribly deep in the overhaul, then I don’t see why they would let him go.

Rip is a different story. Since agreeing to terms with Ben Gordon, they have two shooting guards making 10 million a year for the next FIVE years! That doesn’t make sense for any team. There’s no way they aren’t trying to move him.

The question is…why would they take Damp and Stack on? The only reason they would do this, is if they wanted to have close to 20 mil in salary come off of their books at this time next year. Does anyone happen to remember what happens this time next year? That’s right…the free agent bonanza! If Detroit wants to be players in next year’s free agency, then Stack and Damp for Rip and Prince make a good deal of business sense for the Pistons, and a great deal of basketball sense for the Mavericks. I suppose we’ll find out if the Pistons are leaning that direction…

These fanposts get worse and worse.

Under this dorks logic, we should trade Miami Damp & Stack for D-Wade. I mean, it’s cap relief, right?!

I hate offseasons. Every dumbass with a keyboard and access to ESPN Trade Machine becomes a fucking GM.

+1

but seems like we will be getting Gortat… for the full MLE… eek!
no comment one the detroit trade… lol… weren’t they offered ray allen and rondo for those two and some more?… of course stack and damp is much better…. HAHAHAHA

Never mind that he failed to add The George to his roster.

I swear, some people don’t know how to distinguish real life team operations from NBA 2K9.

I’m fine with Gortat. He won’t be any worse than Damp, and will come cheaper, and can potentially develop more with some real minutes to show what he can do. I like taking flyers on these types of players. They can reap quite the benefit if it works out.

by Maximilian on Jul 3, 2009 6:51 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

We can package our expiring contracts

but only when the trade deadline comes, so by then the teams that won’t go to the playoffs will want to trade. Also, why would the Pistons do that trade? The got a better deal from Boston and rejected it. The reason he didn’t add The George to his roster because I think the Mavs can waive him.

Come on, take it easy on him

just look at his username

Fuck all of you

Don’t have to be total dicks. I threw out some goddamn ideas. And dumb shit they are trying to save money and Damp has one if not the biggest expiring contract along with Stack’s. Im just throwing out ideas. And Maximillian don’t call me a dumbass motherfucker. There is a reason we have fanposts, to throw out some fuckin ideas. If you don’t like it then at least don’t be a dick about it.

by Homey D. Clown on Jul 3, 2009 11:13 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Get angrier at the internet.

Don’t put out ideas if you’re not willing to take criticisms on them. And you shouldn’t throw out trade proposals that have us getting a perennial All Star and serious perimeter defensive guru for an injured over the hill vet, and an overpaid center. That’s just lazy. We might as well just ask every team for a highly paid player and offer them Stack or Damp’s contract, if we’re going for the “salary cap relief” scenario.

You’re the guy who laughed at the idea of getting Gortat, and cited him being bad because he avg’d 4 pts and 4 rebounds a game. Never mind that he came off the bench for only 12 minutes a game and backed up Dwight fucking Howard. Give him Damp’s minutes and he’ll at LEAST match Damp’s production, if not exceed it. That’s a viable option for this team that could IMPROVE our roster without severely breaking the bank.

by Maximilian on Jul 3, 2009 2:43 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

dude

I am willing to take criticisms that the ponit of throwing the ideas out. I said don’t be a DICK about it. And we could potentially get Rip for Damp. They need a big man this year and Damp has 16mil coming off next year. So that ist farfetched at all. And if they want to save more money they could pull Prce for Stack. Do you think Gerald Green is bad? because based on his points per minute he would be the scoring champ if he played starters minutes.

by Homey D. Clown on Jul 3, 2009 3:14 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

No, I don't think Gerald Green is bad at all.

But the minutes aren’t comparable. Gortat was a backup C, and still played most every game against NBA regulars.

Green usually played garbage time as a 3rd string SG or SF. I would have liked to see him as the team’s backup SG, but he needs to be on a rebuilding team getting big minutes and learning the game. He has all the athleticism in the world, but his basketball IQ leaves much to be desired.

And really. Don’t take the internet too seriously. It’s just words on a screen.

Getting Rip will only work if JET goes

Can those 2 be swapped? Detroit gets a clutch guy and we get a consistent perimeter scorer and a much better defender. Besides, it looks like Avery will get the Pistons gig, and everybody knows he’s a JET guy. If possible, I’d do this in a heartbeat.

GREAT IDEA

Lets unlike every other team this offseason give up a great player with talent for another player. Spurs ould give up 3 pieces of shit as would the Lakers and Magic and every other team. We gie up one of our star playerss!!!. I wouldnt do that it wouldnt improve us at all. Damp and George for Rip. they save alot of money

by Homey D. Clown on Jul 3, 2009 10:29 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Not to sound like I don't want to win,

but I don’t see how we can beat the Lakers, Spurs, or Trail Blazers. There are not enough players out there that we can get that would at least allow us to compete with these teams.

S-St. Louis, R-Rams, D-Dallas, M-Mavericks, A-Arizona, D-Diamondbacks.

by srdmad on Jul 3, 2009 11:21 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Well, uh...

The eternal optimist will say that Mavs-Spurs will always be split down the middle no matter what moves either side has made. Even getting Manu and Jefferson out of nowhere.

And well, uh, we were 3-0 against Portland last season. Won’t be the same next season, but let’s wait before making any judgments about them. Those kids are going to improve across the board though. Doesn’t look like they’ll get Hedo.

The Rockets? They won’t do as badly as people are predicting, but still.

Hornets and Jazz will both give the Mavs trouble, but I’d be confident in the Mavs taking either out in a playoff series with HC advantage.

I’d be more worried about the Nuggets.

The Lakers? Cleveland? Even Boston? They’re unbeatable to the Mavs. They played the Lakers three times and lost narrowly each time, but they don’t seem to have the defence and the execution down the stretch to hold onto their leads. We can’t defend the Cavs, let’s hope they just die in the playoffs again. Similar with Boston, blowing that lead at home sucked.

Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.

We did lose to the Lakers by narrow margins, but they are better then last year.

At the time that I wrote my comment, I read that Hedo was going to Portland. Since he isn’t, I think we can beat Portland. What I’m saying is, is it worth it to trade all or some of our expiring contracts to get guys with contracts past this season, when those players that we get will probably not make us good enough to win a title?

S-St. Louis, R-Rams, D-Dallas, M-Mavericks, A-Arizona, D-Diamondbacks.

A starting lineup of

Kidd
Hamilton
Howard
Dirk
Gortat

with the bench of JET and otherland us the 4 seed in the west IMO

1. Lakers
2. Nuggets
3. Spurs
4. Mavs
5. Blazers
6. Jazz
7. Rockets
8. Hornets

The farthest we can get is to the WCF.

by Homey D. Clown on Jul 4, 2009 2:13 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

The Blazers will have a bg shot of landing a higher seed but not Utah

They always begin great then go on that 5 game losing streak which kills them. POR will basically have the same team. They might add David Lee or Andre Miller but they will be either 3-4- or 5 seed. 3 4 and 5 goes to SA, DAL, and POR in no order

by Homey D. Clown on Jul 4, 2009 10:34 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Fair enough.

Plus, if I had to pick another Western Conference opponent to root for, it’d be them. Only team I know that can get in the Lakers heads.
