The Mavs may have gotten a steal in Rodrigue Beaubois
"The Mavs may have gotten a steal in Rodrigue Beaubois."
This is part of a mock ranking of the draft per the summer league. They ranked Roddy Buckets 9th.
9. Rodrigue Beaubois, point guard, France (Reality is No. 25 by the Oklahoma City Thunder and traded to the Dallas Mavericks): Panel members were wowed by his speed and deep range, collectively bumping him up 16 spots.
"Really makes the Mavericks locking up Jason Kidd for three years, at big money, a master stroke," said one panel member, tongue firmly in cheek. "And don't tell me he's the second coming of Leandro Barbosa ... although there may not be anything wrong with that."

Finally a true first round pick
Acctually, in compared to recent Mav’s draft picks post-Devin Harris, any player who can stay in the NBA past their rookie contract would be considered a “steal”. But I do agree that getting such a good point guard at 24 was a nice move by the Mavs. A quick pg with decent and range and can play defense getting drafted late is always good. Hopefully, Roddy can have a rookie year like other recent rookie pgs in a similar situation he was (Mario Chalmers and George Hill)
I'm pretty pumped to see the guy in real NBA games
not sure how much PT he’ll get but if he comes in for 5 to 10 mpg and changes the game defensively with an ability to score, I’d be pretty happy.
The future is where this guy’s most exciting. He could be a better point guard than every PG drafted this year (since Rubio isn’t going to be here most likely) if his ceiling works out. I knew NOTHING about him until we drafted him. Now it seems the more I know, the more I like. And learning from Kidd will be HUGE.

That’s just a stupid thing to say. Is Roddy ready to start right now? No. Will he be ready to take over at the start of next year? Not likely. If he does turn out to be a player, then 3 years from now, he will be primed to take over the starting job when Kidd has a 1-year contract, we all know how valuable those are.
I think they gave Kidd a 3 year contract
to help out Beaubois so he could be our PG 2-3 years from now.

I haven't been reading up on him lately
How is the injury?

I'm sure you and I are talking about the same one
The left knee or whatever it was that happened in the final minute of a game. That’s great news if it was only temporary.

He was hurt against PHX I believe
Then played two games after the injury, and really shined in the outing against OKC.

He is doin fine.....
The only reason why he fell to the ground during the game because he said that he has had a knee injry before in the same knee, so he is really cautious to not hurt it. and he is goin to be great. I just hope we dont end up trading him away like we did with d-harris
