An option not being talked about...
Not as flashy as some ideas, but...
Now, I'm not sure if the Suns are still interested in shedding salary, but Leandro Barbosa's salary closely matches the trade value of Stack's contract. What do you guys think about plugging him in at the SG position?
This, of course, assumes that the Suns are in any way interested in letting him go. What I like about him: He's a very quick guard (can he stay in front of Chris Paul so Kidd doesn't have to try?) who can shoot the 3-ball with good consistency (career 40% with nearly 4 attempts per game). Since the roster is lacking for a consistent back court 3-pt shooting threat, this is something I would think the Mavs would be looking for in their next move.
If "The Stack Chip" is used for Barbosa, then Damp's contract is still around for more tinkering this year or next (in 2010 Damp + J-Ho = >$20 million) . As a side note, I like the Marion trade idea so long as Dallas facilitates his move somewhere else in exchange for a good SG. Sorry, but no matter if J-Ho or Matrix starts at the SG position, neither one of them can shoot the 3-pointer with any consistency. We might have difficulty spreading the floor with such a lack of 3-pt shooting...
What do you guys think? Would Barbosa be a welcome addition to the starting lineup if he could be had for Stack's contract? Whatever happens, I just don't want to see Wright starting again next year...

I think we just drafted a Barbosa starter kit...
and we don’t NEED to live by the 3 pointer. We have Terry and Carroll already on the roster with Dirk, Kidd shoots good 3’s, and add in Shan Foster (or the idea of him), plus Barea, Howard and Marion can all hit the 3.
Would you rather have a 40% three point shooter, or a guy that will finish Kidd’s alley oops?
"Hang-Dai, Wu...Hang-Fu$&ing-Dai"
I agree...
we have guys on the roster who CAN shoot 3’s, but here’s to showing the rest of the NBA didn’t respect it: Dallas averaged the 8th MOST 3-point attempts per game last season, but we were 25th in 3-point shooting percentage. Kidd performs well when his SG and/or SF can consistently knock down the 3 (see Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson), thereby spreading out the opposing defense and opening up passing lanes. Antoine Wright didn’t scare anyone with his shooting, and the defense hardly had to account for him.
Both Josh and Marion CAN shoot the 3, but they don’t exactly do it consistently. I think teams would be more worried about those two driving / slashing to the basket than them making a 3-pointer, and that would do the exact opposite of spread the floor.
I do agree with the Barbosa starter kit, though…I think Beaubois is potentially a great pick for the same reasons why one would want Barbosa on their team. Here’s to hoping that Shan Foster shows up big time in the summer league…
For what it’s worth, I’d still rather have Marion than Barbosa…I just thought it was an interesting angle if there’s nothing better…
I would love that
but I doubt the Suns would let him go for that
That's why they call them business sox
No more undersized guards!
I like JET and JJB plenty, and hope they stay, but Dallas needs to get longer in the backcourt, either by trading for a taller shooting guard, or making a deal (like they’re trying to do with Marion) that allows Josh to move to the 2 position.
I think if you put two of my best seasons together it wouldn't come up with the numbers he's going to have at the end of the season. -Troy Aikman on Tony Romo
Barbosa's ability to penetrate gets me excited...
I’d probably be interested in that guy, though I don’t know that I’d like him more than Marion…
Forget Barea… He’s a spare.
If it would piss off those Suns fans
I’m all for it.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you're a mile away AND you have their shoes.
Beaubois + Barea is better then Barbosa
Please don’t make him our starting 2 guard.
