Mavs Roster

I am working on the assumption that the Mavs get the Shawn Marion deal done, that the Magic don't match the Gortat offer, and that Dallas re-signs each of their fringe/spare parts from last year along with the proposed Q. Ross. But it looks like our roster will end up just like this in 09-10:

Kidd - Barea

Q. Ross - Terry - Wright

Howard - Marion

Dirk - Bass - Singleton

Gortat - Dampier - Hollins

Just know that the Mavs are going to keep Dampier, and should. Also, throw in one of the scrubs from last year to finish off the roster. Crap, run down the freaking 2nd team and you'll see a 5-man team better than what we frequently ran last season. One can argue whether Howard would start at 2 and Marion at 3 , but I think it's irrellevant to argue at this point. We'll cross that bridge when/if we get there. But, consider all the versatility. Howard and Ross can play 2 and 3. Marion can play 3 and 4. Dirk can play 3-5. Bass can play 4-5.

Then, what makes it really exciting is the possibility for 2011 (see the linked article above). That team above would be tough, but 2011 could be a powerhouse.

I dont think Bass will be a Maverick next season.

Also, Ross would come off the bench and battle Wright for playing time.

Rumor is we take on Marcus Banks and send them Wright

not sure if he stays on the roster or moves onto somebody else, but if he stays:

another rumor is we have Bass for $3.5 mil

PG Kidd, Barea, Banks, Beaubois
SG Howard, Terry, Ross
SF Marion, George
PF Dirk, Bass, Nivins
C Dampier, Gortat, Hollins

I would assume 2 of Nivins, George, Ross or Banks end up moving on (Nivins overseas or to NBDL?) to start the season

Can't Toronto take George, and waive him, and thats the end of him?

PF Devean George

Not to mention any number of others such as Shan Foster, etc. Now, I would love to dump three of the above. I’ll let you guess which three, but I’m not certain of their contract situations.

One way or another, we do have too many people and we will have to unload several. However, we will have an upgrade in talent from roster spot 4-15. That certainly can’t hurt.
