Dirk not playing at EuroBasket this year

Dirk has announced that he won't play for the German national team this summer. After Bejing he already said that he will take a break playing for the national team, but there were talks in the last couple of weeks that he might help the young, rebuilding squad. But Dirk said he will stand by the word given to Cuban that he won't play. No hard feelings on either side, Germany is happy that the Mavs have always supported Dirk's desire to play for his country in the past and accept that he won't be available this year. It's still unclear whether Chris Kaman will play for Germany this summer.

Here is the link to the (german) article in sports magazine Kicker:http://www.kicker.de/news/basketball/startseite/513173/artikel_Endgueltig_Nowitzki-sagt-ab.html

"There were arms coming from everywhere, and I knew they weren’t going for the ball," Miller said. "I was just trying to get [the shot] up before they called some crap like ‘on the ground.’ "

"What do you want me to do?" Wright asked. "Do you want me to Derek Fisher him?"

"Give them some fucking credit, i mean for real." Jackson said.

"I just fell on my face for no reason," Bryant deadpanned. "I'm a klutz."

"Fucking right i'm preachin' it!" Carlisle replied.

"Rough life, isn't it. It's tough all over, isn't it." Smith chuckled.

The real question is...

Will Chris Kaman be there? He’s now the new savior :)

Wilbon (PTI) is an idiot

He thinks Dirk Nowitzki is soft because the Mavs don’t give him free for the EuroBasket, when two sentences earlier he remarked that Cuban was never happy with international tournament stress for his players, rambling about players of the past that wouldn’t have allowed their owners or coaches to make that decision.

a) He would violate his contract and possibly not have insurance if he played anyway
b) He has played internationally for the past 10+ years every summer. Has he suddenly turned soft?

I hate that "soft" image European players get. Dirk is among the players missing the least games among

Dirk is among the players missing the least games among big men, playing injured and returning when not completely healthy more often than once. He is not a good defender but an underrated rebounder banging against smaller players undercutting him and big guys fighting for position every night. And internationally he gets double and triple teamed. Idiot.

Wilbon also said eariler in the baseball season

that he would take Joe Mauer over Albert Pujols, because his “hatred for the Cardinals runs too deep.”
