Time to Question Mavs?
What a team will be playing for, and their identity is usually determined heading midway into the NBA season. Bill Parcells once said, “You are what your record says you are”.
Today, the Dallas Mavericks are 26-13, glancing at that record you could say that they are in an adequate situation heading into the All Star Break. As a whole, they are second in the Western Conference and first place in the very tough Southwest Division.
However, take a closer look and you will notice that they are only leading the San Antonio Spurs by a game and a half. Unfortunately, the Spurs seem to be rising in stock, while the Mavericks seem to be falling. Take into consideration that the past few games; they haven't reinforced the thought that this franchise is championship ready.
You must be honest and admit that this squad seems to be lacking something during games. It could be a lack of heart, or it could also be the lack of players playing to their full potential.
Perhaps, the Dallas Mavericks are in a perplexed state of mind? The same could be said about Mark Cuban. After dealing Kris Humphries and Shawne Williams and in return getting Eduardo Najera, why wouldn't he question himself?
Have a look at Kris Humphries stats from the past two games:
PTS REB AST STL BLK MIN
Jan. 13 vs. Boston - 9 8 1 17
Jan. 15 vs. Pacers - 15 8 1 2 1 27
Mark Cuban did save almost $5 million, but the most rewarding part of that trade may have been getting rid of Shawne Williams. In case you didn't know, Williams was recently indicted on eight illegal substance counts.
Getting back to the Mavericks now, in January, they are 4-3. That includes an embarrassing loss in L.A., a close win at home against Detroit, a win against the Spurs, and a home loss to the Lakers. At this point, an identity for this team would be tough to find.
This Monday, Dallas will face off against East dominion, Boston Celtics. Tune in Mavs fans, that game will either show the Mavs are capable of winning the big ones, or as Bill Parcells once said, “There will be changes here, there's no doubt about that”.
Note:
Would fans welcome Antawn Jamison back to Dallas? I have been trying this on ESPN's Trade Machine, send Josh Howard and J.J. Barea to Washington. The trade works out great. Roddy Beaubois would also get much more playing time.

Anything that makes the team better
I’m all for it… I wonder if that would make us BETTER tho, I think Roddy over Barea would be up and down, some nights a brilliant move, others, well not so good, then its basically Howard for Jamison

We're gratuitously fucked at this rate.
The less the other guys show, the more difficult it’s going to be for Dirk to even get his normal 25 a night. That’s a downward spiral until everyone else shows they can do shit.
And J-Ho is just shooting blanks right now. I have little hope in them picking up a legit second option behind Dirk.
Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.
