trade to really improve the Mavs
I was thinking how the 76 ers want Mgrady's expiring contract and were willing to give up Andre Iguodala. So I thought why don't the Mavericks try to trade for him.
So I came up with a good trade for the Mavs.
Josh Howard, Damp, and JJ Barea for Andre Iguodala and Samuel Dalembert.
Samuel Dalembert is much better than Eric Dampier. He is a better defender and rebounder. I thought he would be a better fit than Dampier and Philly wants expirings anyway and his contract is enticing.
Josh Howard and Barea both expirie in 2010 and are similar to Iguodala's so the cap works.
Kidd/ Terry/ Rodrigue Beaubois
Andre Iguodala/ Jet Terry/ Rodrigue Beaubois/ Carrol
Marion/ Ross/ Tim Thomas
Dirk/ Najera/ Tim Thomas/ Gooden/ Marion
Dalembert/ Gooden/ Najera
This is a much improved roster with the addition of Iguodala and Dalembert. Iguodala being a huge improvement over Howard and Dalembert is an improvement over Dampier.

It would improve the team this year,
but trading Dampier’s contract is not an option.
They call me the cloud, because I make it rain.
I think it is because with everyone aging this is the year when the Mavs really gotta build up their team
They are a contender now, but adding Dalembert and Iguodala puts them over the top. Per 36 Dalembert has 13 rebounds and 3 blocks, he is the beastly rebounder/defender the team needs. Iguodala and Marion are athletic and Kidd can provide them with passes for easy scoring oppurtunities. Iguoldala is also an excellent passer and this team could use another passer to take pressure off Jason Kidd and lead the team when J-Kidd is out. Josh Howard has not been himself and has not been able to play at a high level all year. Iguodala can. He is a great athletic dunker, great passer, good rebounder, and plays above average defense. You add two better defenders to the Mavericks.

76ers can cut everyone and make a play this summer, Clippers get a good replacement for Caveman in Dalembert, take a chance on Josh and also position themselves to be a player as well.
the beauty is we'd still have Dampier's expiring contract
but I guarantee we will NEVER see a trade like this go through

I also really don't get why cleveland gives up all their backup bigs for Dalembert
also Philly gets like nothing in return for Iggy. They could get a lot more
Philly gets ‘nothing’ in return for Iguodala because ownership (Comcast Corporation) cares more about the luxury tax than putting a quality package on the court right now. The projected 2011 luxury tax is what the sixers are most concerned about right now, and depending on whose numbers you believe they’re over by a little or by a little bit more…but they’re over, even with the most optimistic projections.
Supposedly no one wants sam dalembert (because he has a 15% trade kicker which by now should be close to or below 3 million so comcast could actually pay the entire trade kicker) and elton brand is the most untradeable contract in the NBA, which leaves only one contract of value that the sixers have. Taking Dalembert (or brand) off the sixers hands is seen as a ‘negative’ but what you have to do to get Andre Iguodala.
Trade with the Cavs is easy cause no way the sixers keep Ilgauskis or O’neal – just waive em and let em go back (who is going to claim them) – and pretty much everyone is clear the sixers would do that.
As for the Mavs / Sixers deal, it’s a trade that’s been floating around for a couple weeks on various blog suggestions but as I understand it, Mavs fans have the thought that Dampiers funky contract will be helpful to land someone of significance this off season even though the Mavs have little else to offer ot entice a team into a sign and trade.

I guess you have to give up Roddy
in the DUST chip sign-and-trade, unless people get perky about Howard again, or JJ.
And it was so obvious that Hump would’ve been useful trade bait in such a deal too, but I guess all that business is now water under the bridge…
Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.
Tell me why the hell would the Clips give away Kaman, Camby, and Butler for Dalembert and Josh Howard
and they take on Caroll who has a long contract and is virtually worthless
heard this trade offer on other boards
consensus is that the Mavs dont want to trade Dampier’s huge expiring contract in hopes of acquiring someone better than Iguodala in the offseason.
And I don’t see Damp helping the Mavs get anything cause low first round draft picks don’t entice anyone
