The Dallas Mavericks and New Jersey Nets have reached a verbal agreement on a trade that will send reserve forward Kris Humphries to the Nets and bring forward Eduardo Najera back to Dallas after the Mavericks acquired him in the 2000 draft.
NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com on Friday night that the Nets have also agreed to use a trade exception to absorb the $2.4 million expiring contract of exiled Mavs swingman Shawn Williams to complete the deal.

I loved him when he was here before, but....
I hope this is about saving money in order to make a bigger/better move in the future. I thought Humphries has played well in his limited playing time. He is a very good at sliding across to help on defense and getting some blocks.
I think it was a big mistake by the Mavs....I still think KHump has a bright future...
Strong, young, hard-working player. I am glad, however, he gets to get some playing time in New Jersey and showcase his talent. Hopefully the Mavs haven’t burned any bridges.
Makes sense
A) we finally get rid of Shawne Williams
B) we save money
C) Singleton will play any minutes Humphries would have
D) Humphries wasn’t going to play much here with healthy Damp, Gooden, Thomas, Dirk

Najera’s Contract is said to be only partially guaranteed for the next 2 years, so that would be either a waiver or a tradeasset. Don’t think he’ll play that much for us.
Hump should get some more time on the Nets roster. Backing up Yi or so.
While most people liked Hump, he didn’t put us over himself (literally).

Exactly, this was a financial deal to save $5 million in salary and luxury tax
It also frees one roster spot for any upcoming deals. But boy Shawne Williams was a bad acquisition. The Mavs paid Eddie Jones (breaking down) and 2 second round picks to get him, and now a pretty good young player to send him away. That and the Diop re-acquisition where really not the best moves Cuban and Donnie ever did.
