I need a favor.

Followill said he’d try and use the word ‘blunderbuss’ in the next broadcast. I have to watch the Jazz announcers (LeagePass) so I won’t hear. Can someone tell me if he says it?!

The whole Mavericks organization is treating him like shit

He’s surrounded by underachievers. He must be thinking about leaving and I don’t blame him.

by mg4tx on Feb 1, 2010 10:16 PM CST up reply actions

on paper, a team with Kidd, Josh, Marion, Dirk and Damp / Gooden is really good ...

but with josh on a point where he does shit everytime he touches the ball, where terry only looks for offense … i don’t know

by hugommorais on Feb 1, 2010 10:20 PM CST up reply actions

exactly ...

we reverted to the point we were last season when we only try to play D, when our offense is not doing well … but not even that is working now

by hugommorais on Feb 1, 2010 10:22 PM CST up reply actions

Whatever

We have no chance to make noise in the playoffs. And Cuban is hesitating when it comes to improve this roster, I guess he thinks 10×50 is enough.

by mg4tx on Feb 1, 2010 10:24 PM CST up reply actions

i think he wants to go for a big trade next season ...

the problem is that we can miss some good trades now, and don’t get any big impact FA

by hugommorais on Feb 1, 2010 10:30 PM CST up reply actions

I call smokescreen

If he refuses to do Howard for Iggy, even if we had to take Dalembert and give them Damp, and says the Mavs are going for a big FA this offseason, it’s because he doesn’t want to spend more money on the team. That trade would be a huge upgrade at both C and SG, but he doesn’t seem to like it, I don’t know why.

by mg4tx on Feb 1, 2010 10:36 PM CST up reply actions

Wow

Whatever, I can’t watch him to see if he does anything because my link just died.

by mg4tx on Feb 1, 2010 10:18 PM CST up reply actions

my dream is to wake up tomorrow, look at espn and see:

Mavericks trade Howard and Barea for 2 Gatorades and a towell

by hugommorais on Feb 1, 2010 10:21 PM CST reply actions

:P ... seriously, i can only think of him as being the reason ...

other thing to me is the rotation … tim thomas should be playing more, najera, ross, roddy, all those guys … dirk is playing too much, kidd too …

by hugommorais on Feb 1, 2010 10:24 PM CST up reply actions

exactly!! it seems like, at the beginning of the season,

we were super deep and rotated a lot, and had different line-ups for different situations.

by LJRotter on Feb 1, 2010 10:28 PM CST up reply actions

exactly, now we play Kidd, Terry, Marion, Dirk and Damp ...

Josh, Barea and Gooden, sometimes roddy off the bench … and that’s all … we have depth, but trading Hump is still a mistake to me

by hugommorais on Feb 1, 2010 10:31 PM CST up reply actions

Dirk is alone

Damp’s body is collapsing. Howard has his head in his ass. Terry is streaky. Barea is good, but he’s too damn small to play any D. Roddy is raw. The only bright spots (apart from Dirk, of course) are Kidd and Marion.

And last but not least, Cuban, for the first time, is not willing to spend money to improve the team.

by mg4tx on Feb 1, 2010 10:31 PM CST up reply actions

by mg4tx on Feb 1, 2010 10:36 PM CST up reply actions

It's frustrating

The trade would cost Cuban tons of money, but he has to do it if he cares about winning a championship. Forget about the summer of 2010, it’d be nice to have LeBron, but I don’t see it happening. I’ve said it a million times: Iggy > Howard and Dalembert > Dampier. If a big trade doesn’t happen before the deadline, Cuban needs to sell. The spirit of the team is broken and a change is much needed.

by mg4tx on Feb 1, 2010 10:59 PM CST up reply actions

right now, i can't see a way to get out of this

if it’s not by a trade on those terms. I’m almost sure Philly would trade both of them … If Cuban wanted to wait for the next season with Damp, he could try something like Josh, Gooden and Carrol for Iggy and Dalembert, Josh and Gooden would expire at the end of the season, and matt has a salary that goes down each year …

by hugommorais on Feb 1, 2010 11:11 PM CST up reply actions

I was big on the iggy trade but...

I am unsure if it is the right move now. If you like it both of the contracts we would have to assume, that is a lot of money that we are going to have to take on for a bunch of years (more than 12 mill a year for 5 years in iggys case). I like Iggy as a player but his defense is really suspect. I don’t want to turn into the Golden State Warriors where we try to shoot the opponent out of the gym.

by zdgmans on Feb 1, 2010 11:12 PM CST up reply actions

yeah ... it's a lot of money, really ...

But most of the stats I see from him, like + -, that one here http://www.wagesofwins.com/AllTeamMid0910.html and all that take account of defense as well as offense and he looks pretty good, he is still 25 not injury prone, I would take his contract right now. The problem is that Cuban doesn’t think that way

by hugommorais on Feb 1, 2010 11:18 PM CST up reply actions

You really think he's not a good defender?

He’s a franchise player. He put a crappy team in the playoffs several times. His numbers are great. He goes to the basket and is a good passer, he can find the open man. Then Dalembert, he’s a faster, longer, more athletic and much healthier version of Damp. Yeah, his offensive game is near nonexistent, but so is Damp’s.

I’m telling you, if we get embarrased again in the playoffs, Dirk’s gonna opt out.

by mg4tx on Feb 1, 2010 11:20 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah.

Not trying to argue but just looking at the numbers, it’s pretty clear (I can’t actually say how much of it is philly versus iggy):

Wow that's a looot of stats

And I’m unable to get a conclusion out of them. I’m going to sleep. See you next game.

by mg4tx on Feb 1, 2010 11:47 PM CST up reply actions

Definitely

May have been a bit too many stats. If you go down to the bottom of the page, there is a table that gives you a pretty good sense of how good each player is playing.

The good thing about the Mavericks losing, it will push Cuban into doing something about it (he doesn’t like to lose). I expect to see something happen sooner or later for the Mavericks.
