Glad Landry is out of Houston

Now Dirk won’t have to worry about his elbow getting bit

i don't know how kevin martin will do in houston. they seem to have a whole-team thing going, and martin is mostly about shooting.

i haven’t read too many details on the trade, but it looks like a salary dump for the kings. landry and dorsey are a couple of interesting players, so i guess they got their big men that they wanted. all this amare talk for nothing, though, it would seem.

if they cover his ass on defense, martin will be good.

kinda like hamilton in detroit in the early years. efficient scorer, good shooter, weird form, great at drawing fts.

better than our terry, for sure.

dorsey was too far away from a talent standpoint, landry is a team option for 3 mil, i think (or better, shamsports thinks), so that’s a bargain.

could be better for rockets(picks), but it’s not a bad trade. GJ Morey.

Here's what I originally had in my fan post

A bunch of trades going down today. It looks like Houston is shipping McGrady to the Knicks and getting Kevin Martin from Sacramento. The reported trade doesn’t to work as reported. It looks like the Knicks will have to add some filler to make it look like this. Nate Robinson is apparently heading to Boston but I can’t seem to make the trade work in the Trade Machine. I’m not really sure how the Knicks are going to make those two trades work. Then again, maybe the waiving of Cardinal will alleviate the two discrepancies.

The Bucks and Sixers have a minor trade agreement. Rumors of Salmons and Stoudamire movement appear to be dying down. The McGrady/Martin deal is going to be the only other big deal to go down besides the ones Cleveland and Dallas made. The always unreliable projected PER of the trade machine put the Kings as winners on that one. The Kings could be an interesting team next year with Landry, Casspi and Evans.

Salmons trade went through, no? For Joe Alexander and Hakeem Warrick?

I think overall the Knicks made some good moves to position themselves for next summer. I was actually impressed w/ Donnie W this deadline.

I’m not sure how Jennings and Salmons are going to play together. They both seem to need a lot of touches to be effective. I could be wrong though. Maybe this is what Jennings needs to rediscover the 55 point magic.

Nix the idea of Drew Gooden coming back.

Thursday, 4:34 p.m. — Gooden likely to stay in L.A.

Recently acquired Clippers forward Drew Gooden is likely to remain a Clipper, an NBA source told SI.com. Gooden, who has bounced from Dallas to Washington to L.A. in separate deals this week, won’t seek a buyout from Los Angeles. According to a source, Gooden, who had sought a buyout from Washington, has had productive conversations with Clippers management — including GM Mike Dunleavy - that have convinced him that finishing the season in L.A. is in his best interest.

Agreed

especially with Tim Thomas unavailable. I liked how Najera looked on D yesterday but we’re way to thin. Time to go buy out Nivins from Europe? Or get Voshkul? What about Travis Knight(sarcasm)?

awkward

I guess since Griffin’s gone for the season, it’s no biggie – but Gooden, Kaman, Jordan, Skinner, Outlaw, Novak, Craig Smith, Rasual Butler seems like a lot of names to fit into 3 positions…

I now this isn't the place, but i had to say ...

Man, Lebron is not human … This guy is a freak. I’m watching Denver x Cavs and he is playing right now with Daniel boobie Gibson, Parker, Varejao and Shaq’s corpse … He scored basically all the points since 3 min left on the game and now has 40 points, 13 boards, 15 assists, 2 steals and 4 blocks … this is sick …
Imagine him playing with the mavs …

by hugommorais on Feb 18, 2010 9:46 PM CST reply actions

We’ll never have the room to sign him. He’ll probably just stick in Cleveland. Not too optimistic about this season, our trade was good, but we’re still not championship worthy. Our depth is concerning to me compared to other teams. Jet seems to be the only scorer off the bench, and he’s not consistent at all. Off-season we need to look for role players that can be actively part of the rotation.

Or give Roddy actual consistent playing time.

by Why on Feb 18, 2010 10:02 PM CST reply actions

keep in mind Tim Thomas could probably play right now

if it were the playoffs…my guess is they’re going to bring him on slowly for the last few weeks of the season to be ready.

I don’t think a roster starting Kidd, Butler, Marion, Dirk, Haywood with Beaubois, Barea, Terry, Tim Thomas and Dampier (assuming the last two are healthy) is anything to laugh at. And while a normal playoff rotation may usually be 8 to 9 deep, it helps to have so many options depending on our matchup.

Other than the fact that we disagree on Barea, that roster leaves us two deep at C, brings in a very capable scorer at PF when Dirk’s not in the game, is versatile enough to go small and athletic with Marion at PF and Butler at SF, has enough shooting threats and we now have a post presence that can catch and finish AND a SG/SF that drives to the rim a few times a game.

Drew Gooden was "convinced" to

stay in LA because that mighty fine class act (PLEASE note the sarcasm) Donald Sterling is NOT gonna buy Drew out of his contract without Drew losing a substantial amount of money. THAT’S why it’s in “his best interest”….because Donald Sterling is a cheap ass white trash piece of shit that even billions of dollars cannot cover up.

by Cynthia56 on Feb 19, 2010 12:40 PM CST reply actions

If it were the playoffs right now, Tim Thomas would

not be playing. There is no “bringing him along slowly” business going on because he isn’t with the team. Hasn’t been for at least a month. Apparently his wife is really ill and it’s possible he won’t be back at all this season.

by Cynthia56 on Feb 19, 2010 12:43 PM CST reply actions

maybe not

I figured it was to keep him healthy, but read the reports that he’s been away for personal reasons afterwards – I had forgotten that…I hope things work out for he and his wife
