Good joke.

Mavs vs Bobcats | March 1, 2010

Mavericks Head Coach Rick Carlisle

These win streaks are fun!

(On tonight’s game)
"I think enthusiasm and heart is underrated with this team. All this stuff about a short turnaround wasn’t anything that discouraged our guys. We knew it was going to be a tough game; we knew it was going to be a 48-minute game. The latter part of the second quarter was a little disappointing, but at halftime, everyone said that we are going to keep battling. I did not expect us to put up a 31-point defensive half, but that is what it took. We were able to get it done, and it was a great win."

(On the team’s defense in the second half)
"We had an idea of where they wanted to go, but they are an athletic, attacking team and it is tough to stay in front of them. It was a good mixture of covering well at the point of attack and helping. Anything less would not have gotten it done tonight."

Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki

(On tonight’s game)
"We really had to fight for this one. It wasn’t pretty and I think we looked a little slow at the start of the game. We have a bunch of veteran guys and we know how to stick around and keep it close on the road and I think that is what we did for the first three quarters. We were right there in the fourth (quarter) and made enough plays, got some good stops, and held them to 31 points in the second half. That really was the key to our success."

(On the team’s defense in the second half)
"I thought we were great defensively in the second half. We were really scrambling, rotating for each other and trying to get the ball out of Stephen Jackson’s hands, and that was fun to watch. We picked the energy up a little bit. (In the first half,) we were a step slow to everything, especially in the first quarter."

Mavericks guard Jason Terry

It's still mine, bitches!

(On tonight’s game)
"Tonight, we had a tough Charlotte Bobcats team that is fighting for their playoff lives and we came out on a back-to-back and got the win. It says about this team mentally."

(On the team’s defense in the second half)
"It was phenomenal. For us to be rotating and helping each other out the way we did, it looked good. It is going to take a minute, but the chemistry is starting to get there on both ends of the floor. It is a process and we know that, because we have new guys that we are trying to integrate into what we are doing."

(On their current eight-game winning streak)
"Our schedule has been pretty good to us. We have had a couple of back-to-backs here and there but for the most part, we have already faced the teams we are playing. We are following the game plan, and guys are getting it done."

What? The Mavs lead the league in comeback wins after trailing by double digits? Uh oh.

Bobcats Head Coach Larry Brown

35 years ago, i ordered 6 beers...

(On tonight’s game)
"It didn’t look like we had any organization at all. I know (Dirk) Nowitzki and (Jason) Terry can score the ball, but we held them to 89 points. I know they made shots, but at the end of the day, we didn’t put them at a disadvantage at all."

(On the team’s struggles against the Mavericks)
"They’re a good team. You see what (Caron) Butler and (Brendan) Haywood have done for them, that’s a pretty impressive rotation. They have a lot of guys that know their roles. Jason (Kidd) gets them in everything, and it looked like Nowitzki made every shot. He got 27 points after taking 23 shots, and at the end of the day they scored 89 points and we gave up 20 points on turnovers. They are a team to be reckoned with."

We get it, you held them to 89 Points....

Bobcats guard Stephen Jackson

Capt

Hmpff...i don't even like kids....why do i have to deal with 'em?

(On tonight’s game)
"We got beat by a better team. They played better. They looked like they were having fun, we looked like we weren’t having fun and enjoying the game. They ran the plays that they needed to run. Caron (Butler) and Dirk (Nowitzki) carried the team like stars are supposed to. They did everything right."

(On the addition of Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood to Dallas)
"It’s changed them a lot because it takes a lot of the pressure off Dirk and (Jason) Kidd. Now he can be the great Hall of Fame point guard that he is by just getting guys the ball that need the ball. Rick Carlisle has a lot of trust in him to get that done. With Caron and Brendan, they are a better team and it’s been showing. They’ve won eight in a row and they’re playing real good right now."

I, Robot, had no fun (dealing with those kids)...

Bobcats guard Raymond Felton

Capt

Oh noes, the pressure....

(On losing five of the last seven games)
"We’ve got to get past it somehow. We don’t want this to be another season where we could have and we should have. One way or another we’ve got to work through the kinks and work through the problems that we’re having right now and get back to the things that we were doing when we were on the winning streak. We’ve got to figure it out."

(On Wednesday’s game in Boston)
"It’s a big game. It’s going to be a tough one against a good team in their building. At the same time, we’ve won there before, so we’ve got to go and get another one. This is a big week for us – it’s a very big week – so we’ve got to make things happen."

Couldaa, shouldaa...

Nightly notable appearance.

How often can you say Nowitzki?

That Dirk and Tyrus Thomas pic is hilarious

Seems like Dirk is pulling out some Kung Fu move and Tyrus is backing-off. Nice find. LOL.

On a more serious note.

Defense. The second half defense was good. Our offense is already good even before the All-star break and the trade, but I had never seen the Mavs play sound consistent defense through a half after the 5-day break. I think it is what is fueling this win streak, beside the rejuvenation of J-Kidd. I also think JET coming back to the bench as our sixth man benefits him, I noticed that when he is starting, he is just not a ~38 minute guy. He seems like floating through possessions at time. Coming off the bench, he is fresh and often, if not always, comes through for us during the crucial moments of the game. Dirk, as always, was his great self.
