JET Injury..

Ben and Skin just said that JET texted them and said he's going to need surgery after the face injury last night.  They were pretty vague about it, so not much detail.  Hopefully, it was a joke, but if it wasn't hopefully he won't miss a lot of time.  There is one good thing that could come from it, more playing time for Roddy B.  But, knowing the Robot, he'll plant him into the bench and replace JET wil 5 dolla bill Stevenson.

At least

we have some depth at guard. Looks like Von Wafer will get locked up for the rest of the season now.

lol

thank goodness for the “depth” that von wafer brings to the team.

this just means more time for r-bo and stevenson

if terry misses significant time.

So

you aren’t intrigued at all by what he could bring to our team?

by JayKim41 on Mar 4, 2010 6:33 PM CST up reply actions

nope, not at all.

he won’t see the court.

SEFKO broke that it is going to keep him 7-10 weeks at the end of GAC today...

If you go by that it would put him back by Round 1 best case, Conference Finals worst case.

He’s always healed quickly, I hope it’s not as bad as they are predicting.

by bbob on Mar 4, 2010 6:44 PM CST reply actions

That really sucks.

1-2 weeks we could have handled but 7-10 is crazy. Hopefully JET has some fantastic face exercises to get back quick.

Terry got hurt last year,

even though they were different injuries did he recover sooner then later on that injury?

Only five players have averaged 25 and 10 in their playoff careers. One of them, Dirk Nowitzki.

Just had orbital fracture surgery 2/9

No athletics for two months for me.

Keith Null won't accept my friend requests.

by loyal2therams on Mar 4, 2010 9:58 PM CST reply actions

The word is one week to two months! So probably around a month at least.

by Why on Mar 4, 2010 10:02 PM CST reply actions

although im not an nba player and dont have the treatment,

one month later, i still get tired very quickly and any athletic movement causes discomfort under the eye. and my surgery went perfectly.

There are several versions

7-10 days, 7-10 weeks and 3 weeks. We won’t know for sure until after the surgery though.

By the way, FUCK COREY BREWER. DESHAWN IS GONNA CHOP YOUR HEAD OFF YOU MOTHERFUCKER.

something more equivalent to what would occur on a basketball court.

Corey doesn't need any help embarrassing himself

Minnesota fan. Corey Brewer’s not under enough control to injure someone deliberately. The guy gets referred to as “Gumby” by some Wolves fans, for the fact that his entire super-thin body seems to be double-jointed. The kid’s basically a keystone cop movie on the court.

I saw the play. I know the Mavs board would see it differently, but Terry got called for the foul for the sake of goodness. It was one of those things that happen when you’re playing pressure defense too tight.

Yeah sorry about that

That’s what happens when someone makes you 15 goals in 3 PES2009 games and then you log in to find out a key player might be out for a couple weeks becuse some scrub broke his face.

by mg4tx on Mar 5, 2010 10:30 PM CST up reply actions

So basically

JET is now out 7-10 weeks because he fouled Corey Brewer with his face.

by seanathan on Mar 5, 2010 12:12 AM CST reply actions

but what a foul it was!

by buckets on Mar 5, 2010 1:34 AM CST up reply actions

Watch the replay

he fouled Corey when he put both hands on him. The face was incidental contact caused by both players (Terry moving forward, in the replay it shows him thinking better of it as he sees Brewer making a move and he can’t quite get his face out of the way in time. Brewer because he made a smart move, but isn’t quite coordinated enough to avoid the contact – though he shouldn’t have had to).

To anyone who thinks it was done on purpose; put yourself in that situation. If you are going to hit someone on purpose, you use the elbow that is closer. You don’t swing one elbow over his face only to hit him with the next elbow. If Corey did it on purpose, he would have to be the quickest thinker in the game… and I’m a Wolves fan who watches Corey on the regular… not so.

Also, Terry gets away with too much hand contact. In the game recap on NBA.com it shows Terry copping a feel on Brewer as he drains a 3 (pass from Kevin Love coming off a screen around the 1:45 mark). Tough to tell from that angle, but there also looks like contact on the shooting hand as Terry moves forward into him. In the replay of Terry’s steal and dunk on the other end, watch the second replay and it shows Terry swatting Brewer’s forearm and missing the ball almost completely. I thought only Kobe could get away with that…

by Mplax on Mar 5, 2010 11:31 AM CST up reply actions

of course this is going to sound biased,

but i don’t think terry gets away with any more or less that what everyone else gets away with. i don’t care enough about the wolves to do the research necessary, such as watching one of their snoozefests aka games, but everyone is always quick to point out what’s wrong with another team’s players before their own.

for the record, it didn’t look like a vindictive elbow, but only corey brewer knows for sure.

Sexual harassment is no joke, sweet-cans.

Nobody wants to be part of this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cv1cBN8M-9I

As far as the foul calls, put it this way: During the preseason with the replacement refs (no superstar agenda), the Wolves were even and ahead of most teams in terms of free throw attempts. The second the season started and the real refs came back, our free throw attempts dropped by quite a significant amount. If I even remotely enjoyed doing statistical tests, I would do one to figure out with what confidence I can say that there was a statistical difference. Last night was the first night in a really long time that I have seen Corey get the calls that he did. The man draws contact like a madman (and to be fair, how can people not foul him when he moves the way he does) and never gets a call.

Believe me, there are plenty of things wrong with our own players. Take a trip over to Canis Hoopus sometime and within 3 topics you will find a discussion of one person defending Flynn, Corey, and Al and about 10 people just ripping them apart. In this case though, video evidence clearly shows 2 noncalls and 1 correct call between Brewer and Terry. Also, I’m usually one of the people who points out missed calls on both sides just because I hate the refs more than I want to see the Timberwolves lose by a few less points. And make no mistake, the refs made plenty of bad calls both ways. I just felt the need to point this one out in particular because Corey Brewer is a terrific person and comments such as mg4tx’s above are just plain stupid. No matter who it is about.

by Mplax on Mar 5, 2010 3:42 PM CST up reply actions

okay, in order

1. reggie evans gets away with a lot, and terry is no reggie evans because the one time he did reach for another man’s fruit bowl, he got suspended.

2. everyone knows this league is built around superstars, and they get preferential treatment as a result. you’re preaching to the choir when it comes to that subject. the only problem with that is there are several guys who are high on the list in attempts per game (maggette, martin, even a rookie like evans) who aren’t considered stars. it’s brewer’s job to establish a reputation in the league as a guy who keeps driving to the basket regardless of if he gets all the calls that he feels he deserves, then the calls will come.

3. everyone here hates refs. of course, most of that stems from the fact our team isn’t as aggressive as we want them to be, but that’s how we’re built. refs have a thankless job, and an even worse job when it’s in a league as unbalanced as this one.

4. i’m not sure what kind of person brewer is; i’d like to believe that he’s a good person, but without knowing him personally, i guess i’ll have to take your word for it.

5. i agree that the comment above was uncalled for, and if i could moderate this site, then it wouldn’t still be up there, but for the most part we try and police ourselves, and occasionally it doesn’t work out. we sometimes get caught up in the moment, and say things that we don’t mean, and i’m sure that’s one of the comments that mg4tx would like to take back.

thanks for coming by and taking part in the discussion, and good luck to the t-wolves on the rest of the season

Yeah, what buckets said.

Also, I didn’t think brewer did it intentionally but it always sucks when a player gets hurt, especially one of our own.
