Dallas, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down
There is, at least, one more game to play, and the Mavs will play it.
Apathy is a feeling we all know too well, and it is a feeling that creeps in when things like this have happened. It is a familiar feeling. Down 3-1 to a team that has won three straight games, and that seem to have our number, the situation with the Mavs seems hopeless to the casual fan, and to the die-hard fan alike, but it is not. We have hope as fans of the Mavericks, and they have the ability to realize that hope as players.
As fans of the team, what can we do to silence the noise that accompanies the words of Spurs’ fans or critics or analysts who gloat and smile while saying, “I told you so?” We can choose not to give up, and take their hate tactfully.
We can choose to deal with the pain that comes from a team of basketball players disappointing us when it matters most, and we can appreciate the team for who they are – guys who might not be able to get over the hump from 4 years ago, but who also leave a little part of their souls on the court after every playoff loss.
Do not lose hope in a team that you have put your passion, curses, time into watching eighty-two nights a year. Deciding to give up when the future looks bleak does not solve anything. I suggest you look at this team, right now, and you decide whether they are a set of players whom you can stand behind, and whose effort left on the court you can appreciate even if the scoreboard does not positively reflect it.
They may owe us nothing, but if we are true fans, then we owe them our loyalty. If you do not agree, then feel free to become a fan of this year’s NBA champion, and do not come back when it looks better for my Dallas Mavericks.
We all know that the state that our team is in looks bad, but if we can approach this game with objectivity, and gratitude for another year away from the lottery, regardless of the outcome, then we should. Apathy is for lottery teams; and no matter how this series turns out, this team is not worth giving up on.

1 game at a time
I still believe.

Yes, intimidation is the key to domination.
I'm so sad I'm a Mavericks fan
Before you ask why I'm a fan of both the Cowboys and Jets, I'll just say the answer is complicated and that it just turned out that way.
Blow the Mavs up, please, Mark Cuban!
The only reason for losing hope
Is that the Spurs and Lakers are David Sterns favorite teams. I love this team, but their underachieving frustrates me a great deal. I think their coach should be fired after this season.
That being said, I believe we can win this. They just need to put on their big boy pants and play hard. Not settle for 18 foot jumpers and drive to the rim. And for f-ck sake play Roddy!!
Greetings from the Humungus, the Ruler of the Wasteland, the Ayatollah of Rock and Roll-A. I laugh at your puny plans.
I dont know why..
people think Stern is trying to help the Spurs. NO WAY IN HELL does he want a small market team in the Finals or WC finals for that matter. With that being said…
GO SPURS!!!
Heaven forbid
We should go a day without hearing from stevie.

Thatll be the day
THE MAVERICKS WIN A GAME lol
This is a pride game, and more than a pride game
Every Playoffs game matters, and doubly so in a Spurs/Mavs series. After the way things have played out so far in the series, tonight’s game matters in a way that’s separate from who ends up advancing. This game will be a window into who these teams are.
Who the Spurs are personality-wise is mostly a known quantity (and in many cases a punchline). They’ll be methodical, emphasize tough defense and minimizing mistakes, and look to help whoever’s hot carry the load. The question is, how good are they? If they can win tonight, everybody starts calling them the favorites to take the Conference if not the whole thing. If they lose, things could get pretty murky.
For the Mavs, I see tonight’s game as a referendum on this newly-constructed team. It looks fantastic on paper, but what’s the reality? After three close losses, these Mavericks are either a winning formula looking for an extra gear or else the basketball equivalent of a Chris Rock movie – ingredients for greatness that just don’t come together.
When we look back at tonight in a few months time, we might see this game as the Sorting Hat that designated one team a real-deal contender and sent the other into rebuilding mode.
No pressure, y’all.
Sick
I now want the Mavs to lose just because I witnessed this exchange

How am I supposed to watch the game when it isn't on TNT or ESPN?
Not every Maverick’s fan lives in Texas.
Only four players have averaged 25 and 10 in their playoff careers. One of them, Dirk Nowitzki.
I know you like to talk smack against Spurs fans, buckets, but I respect your loyalty and how you expressed it in this post. Kudos.

I have been a Mavs fan for a long time. I’m usu a homer but the teams we’ve had in the past 5 years seem to doubt themselves more than they believe in themselves. And it all starts with Dirk. Dirk is an incredible player but does he have the leadership like Kobe and Lebron have to take this team to the finals? I’m not sure. Come time for a gut check, they fall apart. The 2006 finals is the best example. Losing in the 1st round of the playoffs 2 or 3 times lately to inferior teams is another. I sure as hell hope they pull it together and show the Spurs tonight that they are the better team. If they do pull it off, it’ll be the game that turns their entire postseason around. And get Najera out there….he really gets under the Spurs’ skin! Just don’t let him take any shots! ;) GO MAVS!!!!!!
Sorry guys
I really wanted a Dallas Laker series. It’s a bummer that they (the Spurs) got it all going at the end. I like your team and I hope it doesn’t get torn apart trying to get the perfect team. Anyway, congrats on a good season that doesn’t seem that way right now but it was a really good season.
Agreed...condolences
The seeding just didn’t work out well this year for the Mavs. I honestly think that any other team in the West (besides Lakers, maybe) would have likely lost to the Mavs; just had to draw the damn stubborn Spurs.
About ready for a new coach yet?

I'm ready for a new Mavs team altogether
