Dallas is over the salary cap so they can only get free agents through sign and trade deal. The Dallas Mavericks need to get rid of Eric Dampier's expensive $13 million contract while also finding a way to get a good center in case Brendan Heywood doesn't come back. David Lee is a perfect fit for Dallas situation. David Lee is an all-star center which are almost extinct. If Dallas does a deal with New York they have to give up probably Caron Butler and Eric Dampier. Here is the great thing though New York is busy in free agency tring to get 2 of ethier LeBron, Bosh, Boozer, Stodimire, etc, etc that they really aren't looking at keeping David Lee. Plus the Knicks are in a re-building phase andnext year if the Knicks do this trade they get $13 million from Dampier $10 million from Caron and even the Knicks own Eddy Curry $11 million dollar contract which adds up to 34 million dollars plus what they have this year they will be animals in free agency even with getting players like Bosh, Boozer, and LeBron. So if Dallas would give up Caron Butler and Eric Dampier they would recieve David Lee which will cause big results and finally give Dallas somthing they despriatly need a multi dimentional center.
