Game Recap
I see a lack of postgame publishing by the Mavs.com stuff, so we have to find other sources.
"Go get him, 'Nique!" was the call from the Dallas bench as John Wall revved up to make his move against Mavericks' rookie Dominique Jones. A naturally dogged competitor, Jones stayed light on his feet and locked in against Wall. The top overall pick unleashed his crossover, but Jones defended him in both directions. Wall then elevated for a jump shot, but the ball never got past Jones' outstretched arm and was swatted away.
Against the Washington Wizards and John Wall, the No. 1 pick in the 2010 draft, Lin more than held his own with 13 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals. He knocked down a long, high-arcing three-pointer and made drives and passes that energized fans, many who came to see Wall.
"My most obvious goal is to make an NBA roster, along side helping this team win as many games as we can," Lin said. "A lot of people haven't seen me play coming from a smaller conference. … I've known that I can play. I just needed a chance."
Mavericks general manager Donnie Nelson said the team has been tracking Lin since his freshman season at Harvard.
"He's a player. He's smart. He's good court savvy," Nelson said. "He's a combo guard who play a little one or a little two. He's athletic and makes everyone around him better. He's quicker than you think and has the ability to get into the paint and draw contact."
In consecutive Summer League games, Lin has scored 8, 4, 12 and 13 points.
"He's gotten better every game," Nelson said. "He's your typical young player in that he will look good done night and struggle the next like all rookies."
Making Dallas' roster will be tough. The Mavericks already have Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Jose Barea, Rodrigue Beaubois and DeShawn Stevenson, and the acquired guard Dominique Jones the night of the draft.
"I'm just trying to play my game and hopefully get a shot at the NBA," Lin said.
The 22-year-old Beaubois isn't cutting himself any slack. He wasn't happy after Thursday's scoreless outing and 88-82 loss to No. 1 draft pick John Wall and the Washington Wizards. For a guy who says he still struggles with his English, he had no trouble finding words of condemnation for his summer performances.
"Terrible. Terrible," he said in his soft French accent. "I play really bad. But there's one more game. I just need to get focused and play."
Beaubois ultimately played less than 16 minutes because he tweaked his right ankle in the first half, and after limping early in the third quarter, Monte Mathis, the Mavs' summer league coach, decided to pull him. But Beaubois said his frustrations Thursday stemmed from his sluggish start in an anticipated matchup against Wall.
"I'm frustrated a little bit because I would think I could play better," Beaubois said. "I have made a lot of tough mistakes. For sure, that is bad, but it's good because I am learning from that. I turn the ball over too much.
"It is two very different responsibilities," he said of playing shooting guard and point guard. "Last year when I was going in, I was called on to be aggressive. Now it is to run the team, so it is different. I am working on it."

Thanks!
For the post game quotes and videos. Maybe this is a sign coming from Roddy himself he should stay at the 2. Well, as long as he’s in the game I’m happy. I’ll let you guys discuss the famous debate.
~Karim!
I don't think he is ready to throw the towel himself just yet.
We’ll know more after the World Cup in Turkey.
"Mais put… Il est fou ce gars!"
Sounds good
But i want to see Roddy in the role of, “Im here to score the basketball.” If he gets assists i want him to get them because the defense over-commits to him and leaves a teammate wide open. He can run the point in the fast break and the semi-transition plays. But when the game is slow, and we need a guard to walk/jog it up the court and run a setplay, that needs to be Kidd or Barea.

There’s no debate, he shouldn’t play the 2 and play big minutes. Good luck playing a guy who’s 6`2 at the 2 for big minutes against a quality team.
It’s fine for short bursts, but shouldn’t be his defined position.
Personally,
I dont think there should be/take part of the “Debate” but there clearly is one on this site at least. I agree with you. Check out Jon the Fon’s minute distribution. He gives Roddy 12 minutes a game at the 2. Its smart. I don’t know if I’d start him, but I’d put him in late in quarters, 3 or 4 minutes towards the end of the 1st-3rd.
That way, the starting SG of the team will probably be somewhat tired, thus not able to exploit Roddy THAT much. And if the backup is in, Hopefully Roddy can at least slightly hold his own against a 2nd string SG. Not shut him down, just not get embarrassed.
