Chris Paul to Dallas..... the Scenarioes
In the past few days many people have chimed in on how Dallas should go after Chris Paul. Many have been good , some not so good. so i am going to take some take and break down a few scenarios by which we could get Paul and still work around the Salary cap. Each scenario assumes that we would have to take on the Okafor and Posey contracts to get Paul.
First scenario--- Hornets want just cap relief, cash and picks-----
We trade Butler Stevenson Terry and Berea Cash plus up to all three first round picks to hornets
this i feel is the best trade the mavericks could do as it does three things A. Roddy , DoJo and Mahinmi stay here in Dallas along with most of the trade assets that we have accured it would also help our depth except for posey who would probably be the 12th man
Second scenario---Hornets want Cap relief plus young stars, cash and picks---- this would require a little patience on the Mavericks part
To do it Now would require Two differant trades Trade One Chandler for Paul Straight up then Trade two Okafor and Posey for Roddy Butler and Stevenson or If the Hornets wait long enough then you can Package Chandler and Ancini in with Paul Okafor and Posey this is addition to up to All three !st rounders
While this this is Strictly a worse trade it would still be ok because we would be basically trading Roddy for Paul and Chandler for Okafor and the rest are just filler material. While this deal hurts the Depth Chart you still get CHRIS PAUL!!!!!
Third Scenario----We trade Kidd, Roddy, Butler,Chandler, cash and picks at the trade deadline for Paul Okafor and Posey. I really dont like this deal on so many levels first i dont like Deadline Deals to begin with and Second you are changing PG at mid season for the second time. we saw how that turned out.
The Nightmare Scenario---- The Spurs suddenly Swoop in and Steal Chris Paul Away with Tim duncan Ginobli, and Parker as trade Assets, reworkes Okafors deal and Proceed to beat us into the ground.......(shudders violently)
(well that is my nightmare at least)
If you feel that i have left out any Potential deals please feel free to let me know in the Comments
I also welcome any and all Consructive Critiques

haha
i’m pretty sure the spurs won’t trade tim duncan away after everything he has done and continues to provide for the franchise. Plus, the Spurs wouldn’t be too much trouble if they traded parker and ginobli.
Keith Null won't accept my friend requests.
true but......
that is just a recurring nightmare for me

the nice thing about chandler.......
Hopefully he can spell dirk in addition to being the backup Center, and if we get Paul/Okafor with out Chandler…….

Does Chandler offer any O at all?
15-foot jumpshot? Turn-around jumper? Fadeway? Hookshot? I think Thomas might be a better backup because he offers those things (he played a lot of SF/SG with PHI way back when).

what he lacks on offense he makes up for on ""D" which i feel is key for a bench player

Well, I suppose bringing Paul to Dallas can get thrown out of the window
He’s staying in NO.
Chris Andersen could be in a porno with his 'stache. Too bad he still wouldn't know how to box out.
Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy.

I'm not convinced Paul is the answer
He’s an amazing player, but if you remember a certain (and current… hint) Mavericks PG, triple-doubles on a nightly basis can only get you so far. The only upgrade that would’ve catapulted the Mavs into title contention is an explosive SG (i.e. Wade).
re:
Jason Kidd, for all his talent, has never been even close to as skilled a scorer as Paul. He basically is an explosive SG, who just happens to also be an elite passer.
And, the argument that Kidd only got the Mavericks so far is pretty flawed. They got the very beginning and the very end of his career. They missed all his best years. Swap Nash and Kidd from that ‘02-’03 team that went to the conference finals, and who knows.

true
however Chris Paul would be the Slasher to the basket that Wade is along with being a much better passer…. now if you had Dirk+Paul+Kidd? that would be scary. Plus Paul is considered one of the better defenders in the league. that in of its self makes it intriguing

also
Paul would be the CONSISTANT threat opposite Dirk

For some reason
I’m still leaning towards Orlando as the favorite. They probably have the best pieces to move (along with Portland) and it’d probably put them ahead of the rest of the East.
Either that, or he stays in New Orleans imo. I just don’t really see any avenue to Dallas unless they become really desperate. But hey, we can all hope!

Four scenario,............
He stays in NO and gives it a go with a new coach and a new GM.

we need an FAQ page or something for this site
Let’s just say it again:
Terry and Kidd will almost certainly not be in any deal for Chris Paul, or any sort of trade that has Dallas getting significant talent in return. They will be 33 and 37 at the start of the season, their skills have players have visibly diminished and are not likely to return, and they are owed a lot of money over the next two years. At the 2012 trade deadline, when they are expiring contracts, then you might see some interest in them. Until that point their trade value is virtually nil.
So if you’re playing the armchair GM game and you conjure up some trade for Paul or Granger or whoever, and you include Kidd or Terry going the other way…just stop yourself right there. Cuban locked these guys up longterm for a lot of money, as is his custom. They are not leaving anytime soon. The same goes for Marion, Dirk, and Haywood.
i include Terry for Two reasons....
A> his Salary is 9.8 million over two years, not exactly a back breaker deal, and Two he is still a decent Role Player, over paid, a little yes, but if you are looking for Cap relief plus still being able to keep Fans in the Stadium Terry is a good Player to Have the Same With Kidd his Deal is 8.5 for two years and is still one of the premier PGs in the game Top 10 at least
Marion, Heywood i wouldnt want to Trade anyway as they Are Key Componets and Dirk is well Dirk

I agree,.....
NO needs a wily veteran in the back-court to help steer the young guys.
